I Ditched Atheism for Faith and Here's What Happened

Michael McJilton recounts his transition from a worldview shaped by atheism and the secular art world to one centered on his faith in Jesus Christ. During his time in art school and early career, many of his friendships were with atheists, and his environment was often hostile to Christianity. Post-salvation, his openness about his faith varied depending on the authenticity of his pre-existing relationships. He notes that genuine friendships made it easier to share the gospel, while surface-level or competitive ones made it more challenging.
As he grew in faith, Michael experienced both the loss of friendships and a complete transformation of his priorities. He no longer pursues the values of the secular art world, choosing instead to align his ambitions with serving God. Despite feelings of loneliness and rejection, he views this as part of his spiritual walk and suffering for Christ. He emphasizes the importance of listening, prayer, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit in addressing others’ doubts or misconceptions about faith, avoiding argumentative responses, and waiting for the right moments to share truth.
