I have seen football matches while travelling, in London (Chelsea - 2004), Glasgow (Celtic - 2006), Prague ( AC Sparta - 2023), and Lisbon ( Benfica - 2024). My favourite match was Sparta. I loved the Stadium. The food and beer was very affordable. The crowd was awesome, and the match was very exciting. Great experience!
How is it possible to get tickets for the bigger games .I will be over for the game with slavia but it seems like there are no guarantee to get tickets
We actually literally got back from Prague with friends. Used your videos for a lot of tips, but also went to the ice hockey game. Despite it not featuring in your videos. And now you did one about it, days after we got back. Meant to be. We absolutely loved it!
Went to O2 Arena last year for one of the Sharks-Preds games. Nice place. I also got to check out the lower level team, HC Slavia Praha. Good to go to if you like the smaller, more intimate arenas. Also, if you wanna make a trip to Kladno to see the Knights, the train can take you in walking distance. It'll even drop right in front of a Billa so you can pre-game. Make sure to get off at Kladno Mesto not Kladno.
@@frostsson 3 eur for a beer is really cheap? That's like 75 CZK, but normal price of beer in pub was like 40 few years ago. And it's even worse with food. Fastfoods were really expensive for us, but now, classic restaurants are going up with the price that fast that fastfoods became actually cheaper, so it's the same as in west now.
I'm not big on sports but, at least from a cultural standpoint, it was interesting to know that soccer/football and hockey seem to be the most popular ones in the country. Where I'm from people just breathe soccer/football (completely ignoring every other sport), which I think is a shame (my PE classes back at school were a nightmare because of that, since I was terrible at it, but it was the only sport we ever played).
As someone who roots for a different team within the country - Sparta games are worth being seen. They have the highest budget in the league, therefore the presentation is on another level and it's the biggest arena in the country. However go see them during the regular season as in the playoffs, despite the high budget they invest into the best players out there, they have a reputation of choking in the post season. It's like the Leafs or Bruins... Highest expectations, usually end up not going that far or if they do, they still blow it. Then again, personally, I'm not complaining. :D
Love this episode! I watched HC Sparta Praha twice when I visited in October, it was amazing! I have already booked my plane ticket to return to Prague for a 3rd time and the best part will be the hockey 😁🏒🥅
yeah, except for at just a couple of clubs, it's so much cheaper to watch even top tier football in europe than american football, baseball, basketball. shit, top flight football in europe is usually cheaper to watch and experience (transit cost, ticket cost, concession cost) vs even football at crappy mls in the us & a. no joke. saw a champions league in western europe for 40 euro. beers and food for under 10 euro total. and 3 euro for transit. could never do that in the us & a.
I'm curious if there is a law in CZ that says restaurants must accept card as payment. Many times we have been told cash only because "machine not working".. Then go on a atm hunt whole leaving my family sitting at the table waiting. We figured this is to avoid taxes but is there anything we can do at the time because I feel it's bs.
Prag also has an American Football Team playing in Europes NFl (ELF) Their Games also arent very expensive. And especially for Americans it can be great to watch some Football on ur vacation cause the ELF mainly plays during the off season of the NFL so you wont miss any NFL games during ur vacation.
Love your channel and followed it for years but you went to Letna when you could have gone to Ďolíček and enjoyed an even better atmosphere - You are forgiven........just this once! 😂
Daaaamn 59kc for a starapomen!?....says me from the Bay area that would have to pay $12 for a pint of crap beer at a Niner game. But still, I lived there 10 years ago and even in a strip club on vaclavske namesti was probably 15 kc less. Inflations a bitch!
It's actually correct in the UK, stupid football should not be granted, I have to pay like 80+ eur when I want to see some music band, why shold be stupid nonsense football by that cheap? It doesn't make sense, they should pay more and I don't want to pay single cent for their fun from my taxes. It's not sport anymore, they just to mess in the streets, football "fans" are the worst trash ever. I grew up next to Bohemians Prague statium, I would use flamethrower against football "fans" if it was legal. How is it possible that 60 000 people from trash metal concert just disapear 1 hour after it ends and nothing is destroyed and these football fuckers destroy half of the city even when there is barely few thousands of them? And another thing I really hate is when people constantly talk only about football and hockey even when our country is well known for example for climbing, rowing and other sports we are known for. But in all videos about sport, it's like "you have to visit this (stupid) football stadium......"

Didnt you know Fieldhockey ore is your mission to piss of all Fealdhockey Fans like me? (also played for my school team in elementary and in vocational school i think its the right word für Hauptschule as we say it in germany)
Well, field hockey and ice hockey are both hockey, so you can shorten both sports just into saying hockey. Hockey is a common word for group of sports and cos icehockey is the most popular variant in Czechia, we use it as default word for icehockey. Even tho its not completely right, its not wrong either and it saves time to say 1 word instead of 2. Dont think that anyone would want to piss off field hockey players and fans. I bet you could think of other things, that everyone uses as shortened version, even tho it aint the completely correct one. :)

Well Sparta has three Canadians on the roster so you would fit quite nicely. Even without that nobody would care, NHL or national team jersey basically means "hockey fan" , I would say even more for Canadian one. You would have to pick a jersey of some local competition to raise any eyebrows :-)

Tomas Rosicky is crying somewhere rn😂😂😂😂
I've been waiting for you to mention hockey for YEARS! With the long and strong history of Czech hockey, im surprised it took this long!
Been to an HC Praha game, and the atmosphere was very good and the city is just breathtakingly beautiful. Thank you for shining a light on hockey.
In the meantime, half of Prague is hating on Janek and Honza because of Slavia Praha 😂
Yes because hate is for stupid people and there are many

I remember when I went to Prague as a kid and the hotel we were staying at was literally part of the stadium
I’m super jealous of the food and beer prices in Prague.. the US has dropped the ball on that big time.
Same here in Finland, everything is incredibly expensive.
But it's like double or triple price of what was normal here few years ago, it's expensive with our salaries.
No 3€ is really cheap even with czech salary
The US dropped the ball in beer itself, that thing is just water.
