Lekden, thank you so much for this wonderful video. I so appreciate all of the kind things that you’ve said about me. I love your choices for these prompts. I am finding great comfort in reading Becky Chambers’ novels right now. Thank you, my friend, for this delightful video.

I only speak the truth! Thank you!
II agree, right now is a great time for some of the comfort that Becky Chambers's work offers...

It feels a little sappy or sentimental, but it's true, seeing folks follow a passion or inspiration without any sort of hustle or sort of compensatory expectations brings me a lot of joy.

Lekden, did you know that _Stoner_ is one of my favorite books of all time? It was my favorite book of the year in 2022, which was a surprise since I had considered myself mostly a fantasy reader back then. I meant to personally recommend it to you based on something you said in an earlier video.
The friendship between the Losers was my favorite thing about It. I loved how they reflected on what friendship meant to them and the fierce loyalty they showed one another at times.
Have you read Ursula K. Leguin’s Left Hand of Darkness? I was thinking about trying to read it within the next couple of months and think it would be a good one to discuss with you if you’re interested. No pressure if the book doesn’t sound appealing to you.
    Great video!

I look forward to finishing Stoner. The algo fed me Allen's video on it and I bought it right away. I was reading A Canticle for Leibowitz at the time (on Mike's reccomendation) and DNF'd it because of the prose.

I didn't know that about your experience with _Stoner,_ that makes me even more excited to start it. I have seen a few other folk talk about it the last few months, though, it seems to be making a BookTube resurgence this year...
I haven't read _Left Hand of Darkness,_ and would be 100% down for some sort of buddy read or wrap-up discussion situation. I am pretty jammed up until February, to be honest... (I have to go spend the entire month of January at another monastery, since we have a Winter Term that rotates across different monasteries... so I will spend the month sleeping on the floor with twenty of my classmates with access to my phone and my Kobo but not to a computer, and not to a lot of free time, either...) If you are down to start in February or after then sign me up! (If you want to read it earlier than that then no worries).

@@arockinsamsara Stoner completely caught me off guard by how much I loved it. I have a spoiler-free review of that book at the top of my Book Reviews playlist (STONER and AUGUSTUS || Falling in Love with Two Books by John Williams). Edit: while spoiler-free, I would recommend reading the book before watching that review.
As for Left Hand of Darkness, February or sometime in the first half of 2025 works for me! Just let me know! :)

@@Johanna_reads I will definitely watch your review once I finish. One of my favorite parts of BookTube is reading legacy books and then finding dozens of people who have thoughts about them already!
I will email you about _Left Hand of Darkness,_ that sounds great!

I have a lot of joy in my life. Not sure about schadenfreude. I don't get joy when other people have misfortune. But I laugh and think it is hilarious when people get angry and worked up when they shouldn't be. I am not sure what you call that.
You look young for 40 years old.
I think you will likw Stoner. I am not done with it. The prose is strange and I don't really know how to describe it. It is like he uses simple words in tweaked ways that make up very complex prose. Definitely if anything I would call it a book that is expanding the English Language. I hope to be done with it by the time you finish your video.

I can't really speak to what I do or don't look like, but I certainly don't _feel_ young for forty... To be honest, actually, I had a full beard from when I was maybe eighteen or so until basically when I ordained, or the year before I ordained, I suppose, and shaving it off definitely felt like shaving ten years off...
I am excited to read _Stoner,_ I can't wait to hear your thoughts when I finish it. I generally appreciate strange prose that makes me do some work...
