This car is so good looking. The whole concept of the look is captured in this car. Very pleasant to the eye. One of the most artistic designs ever produced. Desert for the eyes. Great Job !!
Beautiful, very beautiful. I was 17 years old when this was my first vehicle, I bought it for $1000 in 1978 from my Dad's U.S. Marine buddy that was getting a divorce and was heading overseas. I loved her, she was in mint condition. I ended up selling her to my Dad a few years later when I joined The Navy. He kept her for many years, it broke my heart when he told me that he sold her.
I wouldn't do anything different. Hate vinyl tops. Great job guy. I like when someone just does the upgrades that don't affect the body styling too much. It's a work of art.
The 65 has been my Favorite T for almost forever & I check out RUclips videos on the 65 when a nice one shows up... This One is the Most Beautiful 65 I have Ever seen, & Glad I Saw this one! wow THE Color is the best Blue , the Mods are Perfect, and you say the it's been 16 years as of 2017, it's now 2020, it still must look JUST AS NICE I'M SURE! I really want a 65 T now.... thanks for showing it off. a car to be Proud of, and You did it...

Hi- I’m loving your ride! Mine has just finished its final coat of paint. Then it’s time for reassemble. I have a couple of questions on suspension, and your motor set up. I reside in Racine and would love to be able to get in touch with you when you get some time. Thanks, Norman
😍 Great looking car. You should post a video with images of what it looks like with the rear wheel covers off. I've always loved the Ford/Mercury sequential turn signals. What's the horsepower?
I'd like to see it with the covers off as well. I think it would look great! It's a beauty for sure and LED lights always show weird on videos for some reason.
You've really made some nice changes. Like the solid turquoise without the vinyl top. Love how you swapped the 65 tail lights for 66, very tasteful. Great move going to LEDs. I've done that with the rear lights, brake lights and dash board lights on my 77 Cougar wagon. The LED's save your brake light switch from burning up, and head light switch too, which really helps when you've got all those incandescent bulbs in the rear. They also brighten up your dash board if you get the higher intensity LED's. Like the gagues and the shifter. Not sure about the custom steering wheel, since these old cars had some pretty impressive steering wheels. Congrats on 4 years of great work. That 66 interior is pretty impressive. I remember that very cool option on T birds with the swivel out front seat. Do you have that?
FYI, Gearld Lloyd Kookson (Kookie) of 77 Sunset Strip had a mid 60's red T bird that was made for him. It toured various Ford showrooms in the early sixties. Someone fitted it with two 427 engines. I'd love to know if there are any photos of that car in any old car magazines, or if it appeared on the show ? I don't think there were any reruns of the show.
I know this was posted long ago.. but if you see this.. I'm really curious on if you're using a ratchet style shifter cable or if you have linkage? And also what you have going on where your column shifter was? I have a '66 and am going to convert to a console shifter.. probably a ratchet style.
Dear God, why can't they make cars this great looking again? The 60's T birds were just plain gorgeous cars. No comparison to the lozenge shaped crap coming from auto makers now. Who are the total morons that gave this a thumbs down? I'd bet they're dweebs with low level ricers.
@@ihave35cents95 Depends on who you ask. In Europe offset was always the measuring method used, in the USA when this 'Bird was made they used backspacing. Offset measures the position of the mounting flange relative to wheel centerline, backspace measures from the inside lip of the wheel to the flange. They are related, you can convert one to the other.
I never did like the factory steering wheels in the '64-'66 bird, but I like the wheel you installed. Further, I always like the '65 bird body (grille/bumper front end, scoop hood and side front fender trim) more than the '66 bird. But I liked the '66 tail lights and interior over the '65. You incorporated, IMO, the best of both, plus added many nice convenience and well integrated touches and features. You damn straight that's a nice car! Your year car is getting close to the last of the good chrome, polished stainless steel, and die cast consoles, etc. -- far better than the cheap plastic chrome crap and anodized aluminum junk today.
my first car was a 1965 tbird i paid 400 bucks for it in 1974 and it looked great inside and out but it burnt a lot of oil and a whole lot of gas, nice car there you have.
Hi Mark it's pretty easy to do . For the front blinkers use Amber LEDs and hook up a resistor to each one of them and you can tap in the top fender blinker indicators to each one of the blinkers. For the rear blinkers use red LEDs and you will not need a resistor for them they work on that motor that's in the trunk not by a flasher and for all the rest of the LED lights in the car just put them in that's it . As for the wood grain I got mine from Metro restyling 3M DI-NOC Bubinga Gloss Wood grain Vinyl you can go online and watch a few videos on using this stuff, easy to do . Thanks for liking my car
If you wanna get rid of that hyper flash on your sequential turn signals you'll have to put those load resistors in line. Stock thunderbirds don't flash that fast...
Literally just bought one. Love what you’ve done. Looking at similar wheels (Foose Nitro), do you remember the offsets and wheel size? I know you said 17”, but the other dimensions? What size tire?
Beautiful job with your custom restomod! But it perplexes me why you restored an already original beautiful car over a 4 year period. That's usually reserved for restorable rust buckets that have sat outside for years that (at best) "ran when parked." I hope you saved the original '65 taillights and steering wheel for the next owner. BTW, I owned a maroon/white colored '65 briefly in 1976. I only paid $650. It looked nice but it did not run well.
What a lovely car. I wish I had one. I love classic cars from America. I'm not a fan of the new. They all look the same. Very small engines stupid design.
I've been driving Ford since I was 16 when they were $45 (In 1964) for a good one ,so I do know about them jumping out of gear. When I bought this Thunderbird I rebuilt the steering column the same time I rebuilt the rest of the car, a few well-placed notches with a Dremel tool to the Shift lever detent solves the problem. When I upgraded my Thunderbird to a console shift I used a Dremel on it also. Console shift should have been standard on all Thunderbird.
@@wallyblackburn I used a B&M Sport Shifter it had to be cut and welded to fit in a very confined space and now the manufacturer would never recognize it.
Wow never knew these old cars could be so sharp! Great job!!!

The console work you done is awsome! Always thought they should be that way from factory!
Beautiful, very beautiful.

That is one gorgeous bird! Thank you for making her that classic teal known for it in the original emblem!
From Buffalo, N.Y. WOW! That's when cars were CARS! Utterly Beautiful.
I wouldn't do anything different. Hate vinyl tops. Great job guy. I like when someone just does the upgrades that don't affect the body styling too much. It's a work of art.
More better than new! She’s a beauty! I love a nice ThunderChicken. Wish you would have done a parking lot lap so we could hear your engine sing.

Absolutely beautiful my brother ,God bless you
That is the most beautiful 'bird Ive seen. Nice work!
Nice work. Great stance. Nice color, great wheel choice and you see just enough of the exhaust tips.
Beautiful car
My dad had a 66. What a great job you did.👍

Hope you still got this BIRD, as it is a Keeper, So Beautiful it Hurts to look at it....
Yes I still have it Thank you very much
Fantastic looking car . What wheel size and Tire size are you running please . Thanks in advance
excellent job
The lights are noticably off on the blinking. They're harsh and not soft rolling. Aside from that it's a great looking Tbird. 👍🏻
there's electric motor in the trunk with contacts that spins that makes the lights Flash. LED lights are not soft roll their quick and quick off

How wide a tire can you go on the wheels with the skirts on? Just got a 66 and want wider wheels on with the skirts. Beautiful car!
My dad was an auto, body man and he painted my 51 Plymouth that color, almost exactly that color, mixed the paint himself.
That paint is just a two-part mix endless compliments

Beautiful 65!!! I have a 64 my self. Have a question on the the wheels. Do u by chance know the full dimensions on those wheels? Thank u
Is that a 1965 color? I actually like the mods especially the guages!
How did you keep the swing steering wheel while moving the shifter to the console?
Beautiful bird!
eagle screams at 1:48
Nice ride... What suspension changes were made or done please?
I have a 65 T bird here in Oz...
Can you tell me the exact rim and tire size? Love those sporty rims. Got one passed down from my Mom and Dad.
Limited slip and rear disc?
That's cool
The Ford thunderbird should have become the high end corvette competitor while the mustang continued as the cheaper camaro competitor!!
Then it wouldn't be a luxury car
😍😍😍
"Square Bird II' covered in out-of-this-world alien exterior pain. What's not to like?
👍👍👍
Nicely done!
Beautiful car, very nicely done.
I thank you and your dogs
What's the back space on those wheels. I just bought a 66
I think the word you're looking for is offset am I correct

Yes a lot of people have said the same thing, good eye.
Did you change the ac/heat controls to electric or leave it vaccum?
I put all new rubber lines on a it works great
I left them vacuum , I checked all of the components and put new rubber hoses on works great
my first car was a 1965 tbird i paid 400 bucks for it in 1974 and it looked great inside and out but it burnt a lot of oil and a whole lot of gas, nice car there you have.
Yes the gas thing is a problem but I ride her pretty hard.
I have a 64 but she ain't that sexy .. amazing work
absolutely excellent job....I am doing mine now 1965
Have fun and thank's
Beautiful car! I Love the vinyl woodgrain interior. Can you tell me how to do mine? Also I'd love more technical info on switching to LED lighting.

It's just a two-part mixed with no name, I call it Vivid Green.
