We apply our own feelings to what we see and hear. Definitely doesn't strike me as a a sad song by any measure. If anything, and I could be taking the progression too literally, feels like two steps forward and one step back. Overall, positive momentum, trial and error but upbeat and happy. Excellent composition.

Literally just at the end I realized it was about the music.
