    For a couple of guys who've never done commentary, you did a fantastic job! Local knowledge, context, great back and forth - the bar is high for future Final 9s!

      Jason Green Dutch is a nice guy. If you would take 2 minutes to go have a convo with him the next tournament he’s at you’ll like him a lot. He’s a true nice and humble guy and I’m tired of seeing people hate on him.

  • @curtishodnett1664
    @curtishodnett1664 7 лет назад

    Not a foot fault, its the same principle as a jump putt. You can clearly see him release the disc while both feet are off the ground, which is completely legit outside of the circle (10m)

    • @curtishodnett1664
      @curtishodnett1664 7 лет назад

      Also great video! 15yr old making me consider just giving up on the sport LOL

    • @kimmomatikainen1843
      @kimmomatikainen1843 6 лет назад

      It is never legit to have both feet off the ground when releasing a disc. Even in the first throw on a 1000 ft hole you have to have one supporting point (normally a foot) touching the ground. Outside the circle you can follow-through your throw (step putt/jump putt/etc.), but when disc is released, supporting point of the body must touch the ground on the correct lie. It is not allowed to throw any throws when you are in the air. Outside of 10 meters your foot can be in front of a marker, but foot needs to be in the air and foot behind the marker must contact the ground when disc leaves the hand. If you are behind a push, you can't jump in the air and throw an overhead shot.
      This is stated very clearly in the rules.
      Was flying dutchman a foot fault? My opinion is that it is too close to call if you see it only in person. There is a debate whether step putts should be forbidden because those are difficult to judge. To me those are fine, but very difficult to judge. For example Feldberg's step putts are very close.

    If Tom gets more than one driver and learns to putt he'll be golden.

    • @micah_lee

      Tom knows how to putt for sure. Cameras probably got to his nerves but once he develops in a few years he’ll be easily competing pro.

    Am I crazy or is the flying dutchman a foot fault?

    • @ollihuovinen4898
      @ollihuovinen4898 7 лет назад +3

      No it isnt if the disc leaves your hand before your foot touches the ground

    • @hannahschreiber7805
      @hannahschreiber7805 7 лет назад +3

      foot fault he released it after he was passed his mini.

    • @seanmcnaboe4991
      @seanmcnaboe4991 7 лет назад +4

      Both his feet are in the air and his disc is still in his hand.

    • @ollihuovinen4898
      @ollihuovinen4898 7 лет назад +2

      True, so then it definitely is a foot fault

    • @potdragon8091

      Sean McNaboe - Gut fault. Shrug. Can't expect more from a morbidly obese "athlete".🙄
      Keep pretending this will ever be a sport as long as foot faults are allowed by players who wheeze climbing a flight of stairs.

    The OB on the 3rd hole is unnecessary. Anyone that misses into those areas is already being punished by a bad lie; there's no need to punish them twice.

    • @heise76
      @heise76 7 лет назад

      Okay. Let me extend that remark to EVERY OTHER HOLE. Ponds, lakes, roads, people's houses, and parking lots....that's all the OB you need.

    • @chrisyoung2663
      @chrisyoung2663 6 лет назад

      Are you talking about hole #2 on Fox, which was the 3rd hole for the Final 9 event? Have you played the hole?

    • @chrisyoung2663
      @chrisyoung2663 6 лет назад +1

      There are a lot of areas on both courses at Smuggs in which o.b was created because of necessity to avoid wetland areas. The property used for both of these courses is gorgeous and creating some o.b was necessary in order to use the land for disc golf.

    To be a dominant forehand player he doesn't have a very good forehand lol

      CJahy I think the cameras got to him. He had a great score coming in before this round.

  • @mateogalvan
    @mateogalvan 7 лет назад +4

    Shooting only forehand seems like such a joke. Why would you do that to yourself unless you physically cant backhand due to some injury or handicap. Why limit yourself?

    • @StarlordStavanger
      @StarlordStavanger 7 лет назад +1

      Mateo I shoot only forehand. My backhand needs more work, it doesn't go the distance and highly inaccurate/inconsistent. My forehand I can manipulate into any direction I want.

  • @ffsrekt
    @ffsrekt 7 лет назад +3

    If this were some kind of a more sanctioned event or if the stakes were higher i can't see guys like mcbeth, Ricky, or Simon standing for such an obvious foot fault. Disc has to leave your hand before your last contact point leaves your lie. Both feet in the air on release, clear foot fault.

    • @grantprice4456
      @grantprice4456 7 лет назад +1

      ffsrekt418 8 outside of 10 meters you can do that, it's just like a jump putt, just looks weird the way he does it. I had to rewind it, shouldn't be a judgement call live tho, I don't like that

    • @illegitimate0
      @illegitimate0 7 лет назад

      Nope, you can't jump off the ground. Rule 802.04 B states "When the disc is released, a player must have at least one supporting point that is in contact with the lie." His front foot needs to be on the lie for his putt to be legal.

  • @seanmcnaboe4991
    @seanmcnaboe4991 7 лет назад +3

    It is a foot fault. Rule 802.04. He must have contact with the lie before the disc leaves his hand. Both his feet are in the air. This would be a foot fault.

    • @RobertWilliams-su4ob
      @RobertWilliams-su4ob 7 лет назад +5

      Rule 802.04 C and D clearly state that it is not a foot fault. As long as it's outside the circle, you may end up "beyond" the marker after the disc is released (read you cannot be beyond the marker before the disc is released).

    • @Shealoac
      @Shealoac 7 лет назад +1

      He isn't arguing the follow through. He's arguing that he threw from outside the lie because his foot left the ground while they disc was still in his hand. If you slow it down it's too close to call which is why I hate jump putts so much.

    • @RobertWilliams-su4ob
      @RobertWilliams-su4ob 7 лет назад

      Shealoac no one is arguing follow through. We are going to the rule book and discussing the actual rules. You do not have to release the disc on the ground behind your lie. You have to release your your disc before your feet touch the ground past your lie.
