- I finished Rebirth about a day ago? and... I'm not coping with it very well. I broke down in tears with the ending and god- it's so gorgeous but yet it hurts so much. I was really hopeful that Aerith's fate could be avoided but alas; there's actually tons of different interpretations of the ending and all of them makes me so emotional about what can happen. I love both Aerith and Cloud so much and this game delivered the most sweet and gentle scenes with them together. My heart aches so much for them and the soft, pure intimacy they have throughout the game brought me to tears every single time. They truly are star-crossed lovers, the right person but the wrong time... They even have a whole side quest about photographing shooting stars together.
And poor boy Cloud. His mind is totally destroyed at this point, where he can no longer tell what's real or not, and we as the player, can't even tell aswell because we're just looking things through Cloud's eyes. He continues seeing Aerith around everyone but only Cloud can see her, maybe is the grief, the pain, not accepting what happened. But maybe it could also mean how far his mind has deteriorated and the traumas are getting to him, blurring his senses.
Really hoping they can have a happy ending in the next game.

this is so absolutely beautiful my god i love them SO MUCH. and i am so! so hopeful!! i think they will make it this time. i think they will get the happy ending they deserve. i know it wasn't all for nothing. the different dogs have to mean something!!!! 😭god it destroyed me too. i was yelling at my tv at midnight finishing it. sorry neighbors. :' )

I love this, very well done! Aerith’s death is pretty heartbreaking but I’m hoping in another timeline she will survive like Zack did, and maybe come into Cloud’s timeline? Perhaps that’s wishful thinking but with the liberties this remake is taking you never know lol.
this is actually one of the theories about the ending! The Aerith Cloud is seeing at the ending cutscene is an Aerith from a different timeline, the one which he succeed in saving. Hence the breaking sky. But we can never be sure about it, our only hope is waiting for the next game 😭 also, thank youuuuu
@@pink2643no this is right. Cloud died when he caught Aerith and took the hit at the temple but saved Aerith from remake timeline. She runs ahead to the city if ancients.
OG Aerith travels to Zack's timeline and comes out of the "coma" as that's where she's been hiding from Sephiroth. Wakes Cloud up who is from the remake timeline using the lifestream. She chooses to spend a little more time with him but it's risky. Eventually she pushes him through her portal back to the main timeline. This means he's crossed back over which is important as in the forest she pops up. But how? When she supposedly ran off to the city? This Aerith is Zack's timeline Aerith, the one who just faced Sephiroth. Cloud's even surprised and asks her "you're okay?" He gives her back her materia and now she has all the memories of rebirth Aerith.
Fast forward to the end and he's the only one who can see the tear and Aerith. she promises to stop meteor and trusts Cloud to stop Sephiroth.
The world's will reunite in part 3 and Aerith will come back to the party. 👍
Aerith and Cloud are also in Zack's timeline, both in a coma at the moment, but still alive.
@@sharynmorgan944 yes and no. When Cloud saves Aerith from the fall he wakes up IN Zack's timeline. Og Aerith originally kept Zack's Cloud and Aerith in a coma so she could pass their consciousness over if ever anything was to happen to either of them in the main timeline. But Cloud entered a deep coma from the fall so og Aerith had no choice but to wake up Zack's Aerith and bring Cloud round. They have their date and then Aerith sends Cloud through a portal BACK to the main timeline and he wakes up in the forest.
What's crazy is that when Aerith pops up Cloud recognises its the one from Zack's timeline and is surprised she's okay. So only Aerith is alive and well in Zack's timeline after supposedly soloing Sephiroth in the church. It's why Cloud can see the tear and speak to Aerith, he's been to both timelines so he's kinda stuck in limbo.
There is a lot of evidence pointing to this being the case. Like Hollow and NPtK both talking about being reunited and never letting go, how Loveless(which is an obvious parallel to the story of their romance) ends with a line about the hero coming back to rosa after protecting those dear to him, zack acting pretty accepting of aerith's feelings for cloud, cloud's gift on the alternate timeline date being a flower pin that represents being reunited in the future like with leslie and his gf in remake, and zack still telling him to save her in the end despite her seemingly already being dead in the current timeline, the fact that aerith came back during the sephiroth fight, shocking sephiroth a little bit to where he admitted he underestimated her. And these are just the hints i can remember riggt off the top of my head. Im sure there are probably more

I still think they are going to do some big things in the last part, so the timeline stuff have more significance! I really liked how they handled Aerith's death so I'm not really that upset about it, its a really important point to the story and it shakes Cloud to the core even years after the events.
