but put this into perspective, both Andy and Sam groth have very similar serves and they both achieve high speeds with the motion. The question is why and how??????
No one puts as much body weight or 100% mental commitment into their serve as Roddick. Sampras’ serve gets more praise than Roddick’s because of Sampras’ complete game but if you focus just on the serve, roddick’s serve was second to none for a normal sized human being.
I wouldn't say perfect, but it does very special in turns of how he use his arm since I haven't see a second player serve without letting the Raquel head goes down.
Qiuyuan Chen Not an arm function really. It's his hips. They turn faster and further than any other players and that "twist" generates a sick amount of power.
Okay, stop the vid at 1:10. Notice his forearm is supinated. As far as I can see no one has noticed this and no one teaches it. It's like he's cocking the forearm to get extra snap when he pronates into the ball. I would guess this adds 5mph and I'm trying it and it seems to be pretty effective.
Yeah literally every good server does this but the question is, how do you teach it? Or is it a result of all the other pieces falling into place like perfectly timed upward drive and torso rotation. I think this is how it happens but correct me if I’m wrong ;)
It's also a foot fault, if you stand ON the line. If you stand ON the line, you didn't cross it, you see the difference ;) Just wanted to show your comments are useless by writing another useless comment ;) Luckily my uncle is not my father like in your case ;)
i don't think it's cocky at all. he's not stating any opinions about himself, but facts and assumptions. for example he said if he has a good serve it gives him a large break. in fact this is opposite of cocky, because he admits that he relies too much on his serve. there's a lot of ego maniacs like you who view everything as cockiness or competition. how bout relax and enjoy credible information from a professional, who's been doing this his whole life.
Something so simple, and so rare
0:18 foot fault Andy!
I like andy's serve. The short serve motion to me is far better than the traditional long swing motion.
he has a great serve. i model my tack back after his

Again at 1:47. He's pointing the back of his hand at the point of impact as he starts the upward motion.

Does he do flat serve or topspin serve
