Great! Just in time. I recalled Andy’s serve today, then your video is here. And I am also practicing the narrow pinpoint stance. It is not so common, but it is another abbreviated form, help reducing unnecessary errors, like pulling the right foot over the left foot. Thanks Doctor!
Some people teach that the LH, for a RHer, should pull into the body after contact. Some people teach letting it come down and fly out behind as a counterbalance. Interestingly, your Roddick serves showed both. Did he change technique over time, or doesn’t the LH hand technique just follow intuition on every particular serve? Are there any general rules for whether I should strive for one or the other or both?
What these clips don’t show is that it is his deep arching of the back/torso that sets everything in motion, and from which all the power comes when his torso starts to flex forward. The right shoulder lowers as a consequence of the back arch. The knees bend as a consequence of the back arch. And the hips and shoulders rotate, and the feet leave the ground, as a result of the torso flex forward. Bending the knees without the back arch, or rotating the shoulders without flexing the torso forward, will leave most of the power on the table.
Knew you we're going to say a lone mission. Thanks for the breakdown, still super relevant & many similarities with King Shelton. Already tried to implement the set up today with my player & was shockingly successful
Shelton is the perfect example of why placement is more important than speed. He hits 140mph+ bullets but people get them back more often than you'd think.
Why are you emphasizing Roddick is (allegedly) not tucking his elbow behind him?As if it was a merit... Rather it seems he is just doing that which is part of the equation for his effortless power and ultra high speed.
Todo esto es basura porque no sirve el detalle de cada parte sino la clave motora del movimiento. Gente como uds solo confunden al aficionado que quiere mejorar su saque. Repito, esto es pura basura
Super excellent video instructions! Best one on his serve style yet! Thanks!
Very detailed analysis. Just what i was looking for in andy's serve

Best server i ever saw. I saw all of them back to Rosewall. Pete a not so close second.

Something out of the world.

Wow, thank you for this excellent analysis! Maybe I'll be able to break 100mph now 😄.

Last night I dreamed hitting a serve and it landed in, yet in the wrong court😂
