XXSpoiler warningXX That ending was the ultimate "My dick is bigger than yours" moment. When your own men release your most valuable/dangerous prisoner, hand him a gun, reveal to him your location and stand by as he calmly makes his way to kill you. That is perhaps the best example of an incompetent leader.
@trabant3060 um no. No not even slightly. The gun described in this comic could slice apart an imperial voidship. The 40k version cannot even reliably kill a space marine. The Dune Laz gun can slice apart massive construction crawlers and hoards of soldiers and is so lethal only the threat of subatomic fusion from contact with a force shield keeps troops from using it in mass. In 40k a lasgun is less powerful than an autogun, and is used for its logistical ease on the troops ammunition.
@@irontemplar6222 Not logistical ease.. just simply making it possible. Just consider amount of ammo army formed only from autoguns or equal projectile weapons would consumer. Just that army alone would deplete whole planet worth of sulfur, coal and Kno3 in just one planetary invasion alone. There isint enough high explosive in the galaxy to sustain that rate of attrition in supplies. Only possible way is to use ether melee or energy as source for the ammunition.
@ideliveredit dude I have been an imperial guard player for a decade. They are my favorite faction. The guardsmen novels and lore specify this. The autogun has more stopping and killing power. The lasgun can only reach the levels you describe with the use of hotshot Las packs. At point blank range. Also I was talking about DUNE not real life lasers my guy XD
Judge McGruder is a favourite character of mine. She went off the deep end a bit at the end but she also had an iron will like Dredd and was committed to the law. And they both saved the city multiple times. She reminds me of one of those mad-as-a-box-of-frogs tough-as-nails invincible old ladies you meet in small towns who you absolutely do not want to get in the way of but would save everyone in a burning building if they walked by one.

Pretty weird that Sovs lost it so fast, Russians are usually able to tolerate high levels of terror and random executions for very long periods of time.
The difference is that Dredd killed everyone they knew and cared about who was not invading Mega City One and wiped out their entire logistics train. There was going to be no resupply, no reinforcements, and really no reason to fight beyond Kazan making you fight. Sure, some might say "kill the bastards" and keep fighting but a lot would probably say that there is no point and surrender.
@@elysiankentarchy1531When you are faced with an enemy that has literally deleted your own home and still stands to you saying come and get me. that is pretty much to point any intelligent person decides, this is not worth the effort. I love the apocalypse war story. It is so Dredd... sci-fi, creative, grounded in reality, hopeless, dark, terrifying. Just what every 80's teenager needed to remind him that nuclear war is bad, m'kay.
Having just rewatched THREADS recently, just the idea that you could craft a society that could actually somehow recover or even maintain some sort of functional coordinated output is kind of mind-blowing.. especially during.. but I guess that was the whole point of the mega cities, or at least certainly one of the features.
Hey arch! Just trying to a find a tyranid video you did years ago with little luck. I remember a tangent you did going on about ww2 deployment and military manoeuvres in general and how advantageous it is that the tyranids can so seamlessly organise themselves. You also went on about comparing the hive mind to being even better than a super ai. Hope you see this!
Well, considering recent events, I would not put it past some aspiring producer to make a movie about this. Who wouldn't pay to see it on the big screen with the same cast as the last Judge Dredd movie? As the somewhat unrelated reference goes "I'd buy that for a dollar"
Heh, the film 'Dredd' with Karl Urban is good but it was far too normal for most Judge Dredd storylines. It was like making a film about the character doing his equivalent of having a nice cup of tea and putting his boots up for an hour.
@@Akm72 Considering that it was meant to reintroduce Dredd to the people (ignoring the Stallone one), having it be one of Dredd's 'easy' days makes perfect sense. Sadly, I don't think the film did all that well at the box office so I don't think we will see anymore for the time being... then again, do we really want to risk Hollywood, Netflix, or Disney as they are now ruining Dredd?
I drifted away from Arch's channel when Leutin started really smashing 40K. Leutin did a couple of Dredd videos that didn't do well enough and moved on. Glad Arch has picked up the mantle!
Fact, Dredd is official cannon for the God Emperor. He just REFUSED to use his psyker abilities against his enemies during his dread days. The foes were too weak. He didn't need to use those powers. He also knew he needed to hone his combat abilities for future conflicts. He likes the sword due to a lifetime of carrying a day stick.

I am waiting for that full sabbat worlds crusade lore series.
@@jamescawl6904 I mean he did tease it with the Blood Pack and Son's of Sek. (Probably got his name wrong but eh.)
@@chasepalestrant1264 Hopefully he makes it like his siege of vraks series.
One of the best lore series on youtube and we get teased with judge dredd and the sabbat world crusades videos.
@@jamescawl6904 He’s said he, despite thinking GW isn’t worth it, will be doing it. Just it’s a massive project so don’t expect anything until Winter.
I thought I would just provide myself some background by deciding to catch up on your Dredd lore videos. Little did I know that they would end up dominating the evening not only audially but also visually, the comic images turning into an irresistible glue between eyes and the screen.
Thank you for providing this adventure. I really need to catch up on some comic book culture - a thing I had been delaying for far too long.
I literally was waiting for this for a week, avoiding spoilers for this story. The world of Dredd just fascinates me.
I still have the apocalypse war collection in a single book, including the Block Mania prologue. I must have read it a thousand times.
Imperial Rules of Standard Procedure;
Rule Number 1:
Section 1:
Subsection 1:
It can *always* get worse.
Sub amendment: and it can always rain to make any situation more miserable
I love when Arch does big long lore series
He's unironically a Nazi supporter.
"Nothing worse could happen...right?"
So was the Apocalypse War before or after the Predators came to Mega City 1?
This makes me want to watch the 2012 Dredd movie for the hundredth time.
Happy you're doing this judge Dredd lore is epic it has that old-school 80s style hope to see more judge Dredd
XXSpoiler warningXX
That ending was the ultimate "My dick is bigger than yours" moment. When your own men release your most valuable/dangerous prisoner, hand him a gun, reveal to him your location and stand by as he calmly makes his way to kill you. That is perhaps the best example of an incompetent leader.
It shouldve ended with dredd saying "for crimes against humanity you are sentenced to death" much better.
40k sure loves taking incredibly powerful weapons from other franchises and making them hilariously underpowered
Oh God yes. I mean they reduce the lasgun to an underpowered m-16 Xd
They aren't underpowered, everything else is just as strong.
You gotta love Dread that man said your gonna have to earn my city.
This whole war left a very nice and big power vacuum open, I'd be more surprised if someone didn't step in to try to capitalize on that.
Well, they would but reference that last line before Arch's outro line.
slightly the other mega-cities help balance things out and megacity one has the leg up on repairs
Loving it! Keep the Dredd lore coming Arch 😁
you left me curious with the last video and this was a welcome friday surprise
This dropped two days after I returned from Marine Corps Officer Candidate School, i just discovered it early this morning…..and now have rewatched the damn thing now SEVEN times already 😂😂😂😂😂. It’s that awesome for me
Pretty weird that Sovs lost it so fast, Russians are usually able to tolerate high levels of terror and random executions for very long periods of time.
Unfortunately those in power are not usually the most intelligent people
Thanks for covering this franchise! Cant wait to see what you cover next!
Stubb gun judge: ...
Astartes Plasma gun: "First time?"
Thx, Arch. I love the lore of Dredd.
The song "I am the law" by thrash band anthrax kind of summarizes a lot of judge dredd arcs, including apocalypse war. I think the Stallone film has the block wars.
The Stallone movies was fucking dogshit and should be erased from memory
Angry Law is better than unlawful Anger.
Wondering if Arch would somehow cover Judge Death and his crew.
I would love to hear Arch give a presentation on Judge Death's world. He has the perfect attitude for covering that place.
I'm waiting for the Dark Judges lore.
nice. love it. i would love more 2000ad in general please! This is some quality nostalgia.
I appreciate you branching out, it's a welcome drop of new blood on your content, I personally would love to see you cover LOTR, and your rationalist take on it, but it's a very cornered topic as is.
Really enjoying this Dredd lore
Arch I’m so here for these judge dread videos! Please keep them
Comming
One thing have been left out.... what happened to the missiles that hit the apocalypse shield? Where did they go?
I think we might learn about that in a future episode.
They were teleported across dimensions to a alternate reality were the earth had known nothing but peace happiness and prosperity thorough all of history. The combined might of the tad's annihilated all in a instant without warning.
I'd love to see you do battletech sometime. The inner sphere is really interesting and the lore of that world is great too.
Your style of narration is quite unique. I do like it very much.
Glad to see some quality variety, thank you.
Can't believe you didn't show where mega city one giga nukes went once they were sucked up by soviet shield, that was the funniest part
Nice segway from Warhammer into Dredd and his World. Would love to see you do more 2000ad material. Rogue Trooper etc.
I love the apocalypse war story. It is so Dredd... sci-fi, creative, grounded in reality, hopeless, dark, terrifying. Just what every 80's teenager needed to remind him that nuclear war is bad, m'kay.
Judge Dredd is proper grimdark
Youve made me an insanely big Dredd fan with these last few videos
Having just rewatched THREADS recently, just the idea that you could craft a society that could actually somehow recover or even maintain some sort of functional coordinated output is kind of mind-blowing.. especially during.. but I guess that was the whole point of the mega cities, or at least certainly one of the features.
Ty man! I just binge watched your videos on dredd and love them!
Brutal as always. Good Job on this one, Arch
Wow this was excellent, more Judge Dredd stories please!
Hope you see this!
a superb additon to your catalogue. you have to get Dread v. Riddler in there
i remember the reason they did this is because megacity 1 had gotten too big lorewise
Well, considering recent events, I would not put it past some aspiring producer to make a movie about this.
Who wouldn't pay to see it on the big screen with the same cast as the last Judge Dredd movie?
As the somewhat unrelated reference goes "I'd buy that for a dollar"
Block wars was the lead into the apocalypse war,if I recall apocalypse war was 100% drawn by the legend Carlos Ezqera,
t34 with monster truck treads lol
I think I'm more scared of that opening scenes guys glasses and the shape of his head than any Sov invasion...
I could see Karl Urban playing Dredd in the movie adaptation
Soviet invasion on Mega City One? This is...
illegal
remember there is only one punishment for collaborators, silencers
I never realized that Dredd had this much lore to it.
@@patchmoulton5438 You're probably right.
Great story, great narration
I drifted away from Arch's channel when Leutin started really smashing 40K. Leutin did a couple of Dredd videos that didn't do well enough and moved on. Glad Arch has picked up the mantle!
Fact, Dredd is official cannon for the God Emperor. He just REFUSED to use his psyker abilities against his enemies during his dread days. The foes were too weak. He didn't need to use those powers. He also knew he needed to hone his combat abilities for future conflicts. He likes the sword due to a lifetime of carrying a day stick.
Why’s your content so good
For that last comment, where did those skunks end up I wonder 😅😅😅
It seems as though every day i have to hit subscribe again and again
Danke Arch!!!!
i very grim and hardfougth victory...i loved it ,thank yaw arch for bringing more folks like me to the knowledge of how kickass this universe iss
Could you do some Dredd videos about the many different factions?
[libationes deis algorithmi]
Great episode on the Judge Dredd series its good and the newer movie is great. Hope they make another like it at some point.
While I do love me some WH40K lore, the Judge Dress universe and lore, is also a fine treat. Thanks Arch
wow what a mess , thanks arch loving the series
Batman superpower: Im incredibly rich
Superman superpower: im practically god, except for kryptonite.
Wonder woman superpower: Im practically god, but I just cant resist superman's schlong.
Captain marvel: I'm OP AF.
Judge Dredd: I'm just too stubborn to die. I never quit, ever. I'm a veteran of two nuclear wars, one zombie apocalypse and multiple interdimensional alien superfiend invasions. Also, BOOT KNIFE!
Why doesn't Judge Dredd just take the sov judges and make them part of Megacity one, seeing that they have nothing to return to? They always seem to need more judges and given the losses they took in the war..
28:00
Well, I would presume that Mega City 1 took control over all the silos and arsenal that was previously controlled by East Meg 1.
Russia: **invades**
"Wait, that's illegal."
When you finish dredd lore can we have rogue trooper and strontium dogs histories
Oh man Rouge Trooper would be balls to wall awesome.
God damn I hope this gets popular enough that you do some of the other big plot lines and series from 2000AD.
I would LOVE to see a few videos on Necropolis and Judgment day. Either way awesome content. Pay attention please RUclips Algorithm.
Necropolis is a beast as it ties to many other story lines, it would easily be on par with war of the beast seriea at least
Awesome. Cheers for more Judge Dredd
Arch I hope you have plans on doing "America" next
Hey Arch, since you’re doing Dredd lore, any chance we could get some Nemesis the Warlock lore vids? That series was gem if ever there was one.
I love to see a video about the dark judges next.
"They broke my heart, so i broke their fkn city. With nukes"
5:50 I'm a master of gorilla warfare. You run up and beat your chest. Then you throw some grass in the air and hoot really loud. Works every time.
Man this is great, thanks for sharing brus
Really enjoyed this!
i cant wait for the video on the droid uprising
Here's to more Judge Dredd!
JD: Fatties at war, pls after the whole war business
