Dr David, I kind of get the shove on the flop with set of 8s with backdoor spades but I'm taking my chances with a much smaller sizing continue bet in that spot.
That is not at ALL the reason why he shoved. That flop is the perfect candidate to shove because any paired hand the the villain might have in a 4 bet pot is going to be an overpair and impossible to fold. Plus, with the flop being so connected it makes his hand look more bluffy. Your comment is suggesting that he shoved because he didnt want to get drawn out on, but that is NOT the case.
