- This video shows you how to install the brush cutting blade on a Honda UMK425U Brush Cutter. The video also demonstrates the blade in use and how to remove the blade and revert to the standard bump-feed line head.
Perfect. No 2 minutes of oral life story. Cuts to the chase. Bravo.
Thank you!
Your video told me more in 6 minutes than the hopeless Honda manual ever did. Thanks
Thank you for watching
What an excellent video. No spoken words, just clear instruction. Thank you.
Got an adapterkit off Amz. Came with two sets of adapters to fit various brands. I've a Honda Versattach. Had to combine the two adapter sets to get it to work. It's funny that our Canadian manual says only use brush blade with Australian model. Maybe has something to do with you guys being upside down? LOL! I got a tri-blade Husqvarna blade. Much thicker that most others I'd seen.
Thanks for the vid! Honda should be paying you. Their vid's and website are absolute schit!!!! A million views on a blade change vid! Bet that's a surprise!
Great video. Sped up where needed. Showed everything. No dumb jacked up music. Down to business.
Buying a Honda trimmer. Can't wait to use a brush blade on it. Thanks.
Thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks mate, didn't realise how easy it was to unscrew the existing head. Replaced my head in about 20 seconds because of your video hehe - and here I was thinking it would be a 30 minute job at least (with nuts and bolts flying everywhere!)
+agro1942 Glad to help, mate. Thanks for the comment
Many Thanks had to do this today for the first time and the video was easier to understand than the Honda manual
I’m glad this helped. Thank you
Very simple and great. No background music.Such a useful video for brush cutter purchase planing people's.
Please include grease filling, oil, petrol etc........
Thank you so much man! I couldnt figure out how to take off line head until I watched what you did with allen wrench. Thanks again man take care!!
No worries at all!
Thank you for watching

I changed out the oem head on my honda hht25s to a sindaiwa speed head. So far so good!
Noypi54494@ Did you ever think of referring to the owner’s manual ? You know the old saying, “When all else fails, read the instructions “ 😂
@@andregreen8040
Lost it but duh right. 5 years never needed it until I wanted to put a speed feed head on.
I have a different model however the method here I believe will work with mine. I think the video is well done without a verbal commentary which I appreiciated. Thank you!
Thank you!
The Honda instruction manual should just be a link to this video. Excellent tutorial.
This was more informative and useful than the damn installation instructions. Thank you 🙏.
I went to change the blade out to the bump head fitting and the nut kept spinning, lol. Very helpful video.
Excellent Video. Just to clear up someone else's question, this also applies to the 435 model. I was stuck, found this. tried it and voila' works the same way Thank you!
+djGreenALERT Thanks!
how nice to not hear obvious comments - excellent video - many thanks
Thank you for watching
Looking for this video for my HHT35S. Basically the same trimmer and this video was a great demonstration on how to swap out the string line trimmer to the brush cutter and back. Thanks!
Thanks!
OMG. Just bought a 2nd hand umk425 from a guy. I’m looking at the shaft where the blade fits and everything was looking really odd. I thought I was losing my mind as I’ve owned one of these before and there was nothing like this on it.
After watching your clip, I realised this guy had added another fitting over the top of the original shaft, which then made it impossible for the holder of the brush utter blade AND the whipper snipper head, not be able to be placed correctly on the shaft/spline.
I managed to loosen the ‘covering’ shaft (unnecessary one) and Lo & behold, everything was how it should be.
He did have the holder for the attachments on the shaft, but it was upside down. Facing outwards 😖
So satisfying to watch, see the brush get knocked down so easily feels all warm and fuzzy inside :0)
Thanks for watching!
One small point. When cutting "bramble type bushes as you started with, try using an "up and down motion" as opposed to a side to side. You will find it more effective. Great video though. I like your silent more instructive style, I also like the way you remembered to show taking the allen key out at the end before operation.
Thank you for the demonstration. However, one question still I have that which of the blade should on the brush cutter? I can see you showed used blade which has a kind mark from past installation, but what about new blade? Thanks
Thank you for the video. Excellently done.
Thanks, I did not not know you could get a blade kit for these, I have only been using the line trimmer. Those big weeds behind the back fence on the easement will be history after this weekend :)
+Anthony G The blade will make things much easier. Stay safe
Thanks for your insight to fitting the blade
Really helpful video! Have you got the details for buying this blade? 🤞
Well done very informative
My strimmer top also comes off, but NOT, the rest of it, So how do I fit the circular Wheel ?
Where did you buy the (BLADE) & (ADAPTER KIT) for this model? Please give me the Name & Dimension of the blade and company name and model # of the adapter kit. Love your teaching method.
If I have a blade with a direction, which was is the blade supposed to point?
A picture's worth a thousand words.
Thanks for showing how to. Nice job
+Jesus Cristo Reina Thanks!
You are welcome !
Honda is the best cutter I have ever owned. Great Video, Merlin Mitchell is spot on with his comment, thank you Alex. I do have a question, on eBay I have seen a cutting lead head that uses a chain instead of nylon lead, would that fit the UMK425U? Are they universal?
Thank you for the positive comment. I cannot recommend any chain cutting heads due to how dangerous they are. Either use a solid steel blade or nylon line
Awesome. That blade looks mean! It didn't skip a beat going through that brush.
Does a good job through the thick stuff, that's for sure!
@@YZJB what blade is that, and where did you get it? I am unable to find one like that anywhere I have looked.
@@dkalata if you search for “Honda Scallop Tooth Blade” you should find what you’re looking for. Thanks
@@YZJB, Thank you, that was helpful. I found that this blade appears to be sold in Australia, but I was unable to find it available in the US. Still, I will look further as I like the blade design.
Have you ever had the engine stall with the blade on it? I have the Honda 35CC HHT35SLTA and I put a 10" 80 tooth Honda blade on it. When I let off the throttle, there is some wobble as the blade slows down. This is the first time I've ever used a trimmer with a blade on it and the trimmer is brand new. Just not sure if this is normal. I had the engine stall once after about 20 minutes of use as the blade was slowing down. It was about 90 degrees outside so that might had been an issue.
+nickguitarsw I've never had a trimmer stall because of a blade - the clutch design is such that stalling the engine should be impossible - however I have had issues occasionally in severe heat with the engine not running perfectly smoothly. That may be your issue.
A slight wobble is normal as the blade slows down, too. They all do that.
Hope that helps!
Thanks brill video, made it look easy. Even i done it.
Awesome! Thanks for watching
An excellent tutorial, thank you.
Thank you for watching
what pieces did you use to connect the blade to the machine?
Where did you buy this 12 tooth blade?
Thank you . Plain and simple and looks like no effort at all. Here i go??
Thanks!
Where did you get the piece at 4:37? My brush cutter didn't come with a blade fixing kit.
From my local Honda power equipment dealer
@@YZJB Which country are you in?
Australia
Thanks man. Clear and direct. Can you use the blade for edging ? Are you able to do a video on how to grease the bumphead ?
+sonny chia Thanks for the feedback. You probably could use the blade for edging if you're very careful - I see no reason why it wouldn't work for that purpose. When I get around to buying some more grease (I just ran out) I'll get a video up for you. Thanks again for watching and commenting.
can you provide a link for all the necessary parts needed to make the conversion happen?
The best place to find these parts is at a Honda power equipment dealer. It will be a ‘blade adaptor kit’ or similar
Anyone know what kind of brush cutter blade that is, and where that specific blade can be purchased? Not seen one like that in any online search. Part number if possible?
Awesome video!!! Thanks a mil!!!
Merci c'était clair et net 👍👍👍
Merci beaucoup
Thank you! An awesome really helpful vid. What do you think about using a 2-blade. I have a Stihl one I could fit but I guess that might put more pressure on the gearing?
Thank you!
I think a two blade is pretty rough on the machine, so yeah a scallop blade like this or similar is better
@@YZJB thanks again
just bumped into your channel and I am impressed at your video editing skills lol. Your videos are great I subscribed my friend. Hey which model of the honda trimmer are you using btw? I am looking to buy one soon later down the year when I decide to start my own lawn care business. How long have you had yours and are they reliable? Any major issues or repairs? They look a lot of fun to use.
+The Prodigal Son Hey thanks for subscribing and I'm glad you've found the videos interesting! My Honda trimmer is the UMK425 (25cc 4-stroke). It's been faultless, nothing has ever gone wrong with it, I only change the oil often and clean the air filter as required. I've now had it for roughly three years and yeah, they are fun to use.
Alex.
Thanks for the video, question. At 2:11 there's what looks to be a spacer, Any ideas the correct name of it? I'm after one.
please tell me if there is anyway best way to get this stuff here in nepal...and please if you can rply me with approx cost of it for new
Awesome - thanks so much for posting!
+skankined No problem! Glad you liked it
Excellent video!
+Response166 Thank you. I'm glad you liked it.
hi, can you tell me what size the locking nut is you put on the end i have lost mine, thanks, mark.
+Mark Millard I’m not sure sorry. It’s a left-handed thread too so finding appropriate nuts might be hard
ok, thank you for replying.
Brilliant "how to do" video! Thank you.
+peter edmead Glad you found it helpful. Thanks!
I recently got this tool and am looking for a cutting tool. For some reason I can't find a kit and I asked my local small engine mechanic about it and he said the kit cost $90. Does that sound right? It seems outrageous to me...Also, I'm wondering what that blade is called and where you got that. It looks perfect.
+Dooda Elton The blade cost me about $30 or $40. Shouldn't be anywhere near $90. Try searching on the internet.
No I was talking about the kit, not the blade. Do you remember what you paid for the kit? For some reason I can't find it anywhere.
+Dooda Elton That's what I meant by $30 or $40: the whole blade kit (blade, washer, cup and nut). The separate blade guard was purchased after I got the blade kit and I think it was like $25 or something.
Huh. Okay. You wouldn't have a model number or anything would you? Sorry for the hassle, I just can't seem to find it. The dealer where I bought the thing seemed clueless.
I'll just call around tomorrow I guess. Thanks for the great video. It was really nice not having to sit through a 2 minute opening monologue.
Really helpful videos! But I'm a bit confused to see you changing the blade guard when you swapped between line cutter and blade...in my manual for this model UMK425 it doesn't suggest doing that, only for UMK435 if attaching a saw blade. But the manual (and also a sign in the machine itself) also says not to use a saw blade on UMK425? That blade you're using seems to some kind of 'hybrid' blade?...
Where did you purchase the blade kit for your honda trimmer? I think it is what I need for my honda. Thanks
Hi, I purchased the blade kit from my local Honda dealer, where I bought the brushcutter from.
Thanks for watching.
Is that the 35cc or 25cc?
The blade is 9" or 10"
Have you tried the 3 and 8 tooth blades?
+Doctor Shred It's 25cc, 9" blade I think. I've got an Airecut blade (Google it) which is amazing... haven't tried any other blade though.
If there a brush cutter attachment that works with curved shaft trimmers? Anyone have a link to one?
From what I've seen, brush blades only go on straight shafts. Might be to do with the blade needing more torque. I'd guess that a curve shaft has less torque due to the curve.
Great video....very helpful..thanks
Thanks!
Where did you get the different debris shield from?

Good Day to You: Thank You for the video. Could you tell me what the attachment that you put on top of the blade with the lock nut is called? I need to get one of them. Thank You for your time.
+phillip staton Hi, it will be sold as a kit, probably called something like 'blade attachment kit'. Hope that helps
Thank You for the fast reply. I'll Try and hpoe for the best.
