My 94 year old mother has stage 5 Alzheimers and lives on her own. Mother had carers twice a day, six days a week and is in decline. She is obsessed with light on her boiler and waits for them to change so she then rings my sister asking for her heating to be turned off or on. Mother unplugs her microwave and reading lights and asks for her car to be put in her garage. Mother has no car,nor does she drive any more. Her day is spent sitting in her armchair reading meaningless newspapers. Mother is anti social and stubborn. She refuses to wear her hearing aids in the house and will not use a walking stick for her osteoarthritic knee. She refuses to join any community activities with peers in a local centre. She has now developed" rummage syndrome" as a coping mechanism for disorientation and boredom. Mother abseloutely refuses to consider going into a Care Home because her Adult Social Care Services maintain that she still has " capacity". Mother is unaware of how infuriating she is because of her many needs which we try to address. With her non - compliant attitude and continual stubborn manner,we await divine intervention and our patience is sorely tested.

I remember when we had to take the keys away from my grandma I was 5 and she used to pick my up from preK. Now that I’m older it was a really heartbreaking time for my family to think that just 9 years ago she was picking me up from school and now she can’t remember what my name is. I wish the best for you and your family. I hope you and your family stay strong through all her sages. Much love from a random child on RUclips
