Crazy not to get everything fixed. Hmmm, removed fuses..... Couldn't think logically why a fuse would be removed to change transaxles! I love the "you changed my oil now my **** quit working!". Either way, I hope he has you get the car in tip top shape! Keep us posted on that 2019 CHEVROLET! Chevy Thunder!
Your videos are the most informative, still leaves me with questions I can never get answered. Being a Toyota I’m not to concerned, I work at Chevrolet but the same concept applies I’m sure. I probably would never find the 120 ohm information.
I bought a mint 2003 eclipse about a year ago with 97k miles from a younger kid who said the transmission was "bad" he drove it to me $400 he had just had a friend do some work on the car before, threw the ol autel on it no com with tcm poped the hood opened the fuse box transmission fuse COMPLETELY MISSING from the fuse box. Put a 10 amp fuse in it from the spare section car drove flawlessly!
I changed some suspension parts and aliened the wheels with a string, steering wheel was perfect at 12 o'clock. I brought it to the local shop for a wheel alinement and your caddy steering wheel is what my car looked like when they got done. Either bring your stuff to SMA or do it yourself.
I haven't been able to watch your videos for a while, so now I get to try doing a marathon/binge watch, lucky me!!! Great video as always! Did you ever find out from the customer what happened to the fuses? Since you did great honest work, I am sure they will be back with the car for the next electrical problem with low voltage for the BCM. I notice the fuse just above he missing one for BCM 6 had a 10 amp instead of a 15 amp 13:36 mark, so something will cause it to blow.
😊I've had customers snag fuses to fix blown accessory outlet fuses from plugging in all their devices and then say 'hey car doesn't start, or cel light is on but not sure why'. You just never know what happens when your buddy works on it!
I've encountered this a few times and it's why I always tell people to grab a wiring diagram so you can test the specific fuse you're after. When I started all my bosses and lead techs would tell me to just grab a test light and blindly check every fuse as the first step to any electrical problem. You would miss this problem. Or at least always look into any empty fuse location that has contacts on both sides.
At least you found out why they had an extra gas pedal. The car is demoting drive because of the wheel speed signal missing nothing to do with the potentiometer in the gas pedal.
He was probably sitting somewhere there smoking one 😅, or he’s too high to remember at what point his lights stopped working properly, maybe it was before the axle job
A morning coffee and SMA with Mr. and Mrs. O is always enjoyable no matter the reason for the episode. Much respect for the trouble-shooting technique.
Multiplexing - very interesting. " a network device that allows one or more analog or digital input signals to travel together over the same communications transmission link."
Digital signals, saves wire but needs more computers to do all the ciphering. This has been the way for a while. We're using the electric grid that way where the new meters are installed.
This is my hyphotesis... he took the car to a mechanic for the CV Axle and at one point they needed a 10 amp fuse for something else and they pulled this fuse just because because it is easier and either they didn't care to put it back or they forgot to put it back. It was suspicious that the puller was out of place too.
Aren't those multiplex circuits so much fun?!😁 On the equipment I work on they have two boards for the multiplexor circuits. There is 18 inputs and 18 outputs on them for each channel. Oh boy bad connections are a nightmare. The cars are quite challenging too I see with the circuits too.
Hey I love your channel ! In regards to what is a bus code, it’s you have a micro processor on the whatever the pcm is using sending a certain information stored to speak with that specific sensor and receiving back in a bus data. Using the by pass system that module can send information to multiple control modules at the same time. When the code arrives is saying the bus information either didn’t receive the information or it returned the information incorrectly. The Scan tool reflects that error as a pass or fail. Imagine the pcm/ecm needing to talk to all this sensors that are controlled by all this different modules it sends this information through a bus. Right there the technician can determine either the signal reference or control etc is not providing the correct stored data the manufacturer requires
Multiplexing means one data wire and one clock. (those can be combined to one) From a start pulse, often a long pulse, each device send it's data to the data wire after a number of pulses on the clock wire. The data can be both digital or analog. Just different analog values is not multiplex. I have designed code locks that was using both system and a 8 channel audio device with only one coax wire. It's very hard to make something as you describe since resistance change with temperature and in a car it change a lot, but it's simpler and cost less so they solve it with large steps between the resistance, but it's not multiplexing, if you press one button you can't press another one as you can do with multiplex like your keyboard.
First thing I though of was a ground was missing at the trany. After a trany rebuild on a 96 caravan, a mounting bolt was installed without installing the ground wire eyelet. It caused overheating as the cooling fan used that ground. Vice grips saved me on the Mass Pike!

I've seen that a few times at work. Pull a fuse have some fun. Ya, until bad things happen! DON'T DO THAT AT HOME! Good one Mr. O, nice to see Mrs. O, and of course......the kitty.
In addition the missing fuse, it looks like the fuse directly above it (BCM 6) is currently a 10A fuse. It should be 15A per the diagram you showed at 14:27.
Since they are young, I'm thinking they deliberately removed the fuse in order to stop a dinger from going off or to clear a code or perhaps the removed the wrong fuse. I believe they were trying to remove the ATS fuse which is directly under the BCM fuse that they pulled. Eric O mentioned that one of the high beams was out and maybe they pulled the ATS fuse to prevent the adaptive lighting from turning on. It's also possible that the ATS fuse looks very similar to the ABS fuse because the print is so tiny and they pulled the ABS fuse to stop the drivability issue with the wheel sensor. If they are young, they probably don't have the incredibly useful scanner that Eric O has and we are looking at this through the lens of hindsight instead of why is my car acting funky every time I drive it.
G'day, Eric, and Mrs. O.! "Ever since you fixed my bathroom sink faucet. Now, my porch lights turn-on, instead." Just on a side note! We’re plumbers! I always keep some spare fuses in the car, more for the case that I might need them for another car than the car blows fuses. Putting them in blank spots first make sure there is not an existing link in there, as some of those empty fuse locations are for different models with different options, and that fuse might be bypassing a relay and keeping a module on all the time.

With Heater blower Motor problems and dome lite timer n headlights not turning on & off correctly ,, I checked under Hood & found some after market wiring that was incomplete ,,and some fuses missing . After checking out the wiring ,,grounds & components ,I carefully pulled all the Fuses ,tested them & replaced two fuses missing .. It fixed all problems ,,So I ALWAYS CHECK THE BASICS & LOOK FOR GOOD BATTERY VOLTAGE, GROUNDS ,,AND BE AWARE OF ADD ON WIRING ,,GOOD LUCK GUYS ,,ITS NOT GETTING ANY EASIER
Luna did it! She took the fuse to mess with you because you took her to the Vet. :)
😂
Well she did offer to give it a cat scan!
Yessss, of coouurse. The cat ... Sinister evil laughing is heard in the background ...
You really have great humor along with automotive repair excellence.
I changed some suspension parts and aliened the wheels with a string, steering wheel was perfect at 12 o'clock. I brought it to the local shop for a wheel alinement and your caddy steering wheel is what my car looked like when they got done. Either bring your stuff to SMA or do it yourself.
Like your show. Very informative. Like to see family mechanic shows . Keep him in line Mrs.O
Was that Mrs. O's first warning ?😂
If not for friends, what would life be. Very philosophical tonight. Getting ready for a big storm. Lots of thunder and lightning 😱😱😱
I like how thorough u r as u xplain in an understandable way. Keep em coming Eric😂
I learn so much about wiring from your videos. Been wrenching since i was 15. 25 now. Electronics are my weakest spot !!
😊I've had customers snag fuses to fix blown accessory outlet fuses from plugging in all their devices and then say 'hey car doesn't start, or cel light is on but not sure why'. You just never know what happens when your buddy works on it!
Well done Eric! Keep being you- and Mrs. O too!
Great diag as always. Someone was playing for sure...
Customer claims he had no idea, and he was there when the axles were changed 🤷🏼♂️
@@SouthMainAutowonder if his "buddy" was just trying to secure a little future business?
He was probably sitting somewhere there smoking one 😅, or he’s too high to remember at what point his lights stopped working properly, maybe it was before the axle job
@@baykarracko1505amount of people I see driving around with all burnt out tail lights and headlights/ running lights is phenomenal

Makes it even more suspicious.🤔😂🤣🤙
When driving it sounds like bad upper strut bearings when turning the wheel. Thanks for your great videos they sure help
A morning coffee and SMA with Mr. and Mrs. O is always enjoyable no matter the reason for the episode. Much respect for the trouble-shooting technique.
You're an honest person. I'm sure everyone knows you're not going to rip anyone off . The saying 😊 it simple really applies here. Lol
I would have jumped right to the grounds. But your thorough research and logic found the issue. A missing fuse? Who would have thunk it?
I am so glad someone finally explained how a multiplex switch works. BZzzzzzz watch out Eric.
Thanks again for another great diagnosis Dr. O!!
Great job. Love to watch you track down the issues and find the solutions.
That's a costly attempt to mess with you if that's what's going on. Nice work
Hey I love your channel !
(those can be combined to one)
From a start pulse, often a long pulse, each device send it's data to the data wire after a number of pulses on the clock wire.
@ 4:53 Why is it requesting a Mother In Law, does it not have enought grief in it's life already?? 😅🤣😆
First thing I though of was a ground was missing at the trany. After a trany rebuild on a 96 caravan, a mounting bolt was installed without installing the ground wire eyelet. It caused overheating as the cooling fan used that ground. Vice grips saved me on the Mass Pike!
Don't yell at her. It's always nice to see Mrs.O, late or early. 😁
Looks like he was in there messing with it and didn't know what to do when he F'd it up.
Am I the only one that was curious about the warm air she wanted to went? 🤣 I just love your conversations. You just know it's when it starts with the 'oh oh, what's up Mrs. O!? Or a rant 😁
Finally, one I could have figured out! Great vid
Awesome job. Thanks for sharing with us. Y'all are doing such a great job! I know it's hard, but rewarding. Stay safe, and God bless
O, the very supportive Mrs. O, good to see she is still up and about.
Great video. Want to ssrew with someone easily, just pull a couple fuses when they aren't paying attention. Is there a video coming for the 19 Chevy that you mentioned? Would like to see one if there is.
Yeah I made the video on the 19 Chevy because GM needs to step up to the plate and recall these pieces of crap
Hay, Thanks for all the effort in making the videos I'm learning a lot from you. Hope to buy a scan tool and scope when I can. Best wishes grease dobber
Excellent diagnostics - love watching the expert & human aspect of these videos. well done!
Willing to bet that " friend/relative " pulled that fuse as a joke
I don't know, if I'm pranking my pal I'm not going to let it go so far as costing him a couple of hundred bucks.
There's something deeper than that.
" Not only I can change cv axles on Cadillac's I'm pretty good at fixing electrical issues. Im less expensive than the dealership"
I've seen that a few times at work.
Pull a fuse have some fun. Ya, until bad things happen! DON'T DO THAT AT HOME!
Good one Mr. O, nice to see Mrs. O, and of course......the kitty.
Interested to hear the true story behind this one. Good to see the boss in this video.
"...I don't even know what that means..." now you're speakin' my language! ;-)
In addition the missing fuse, it looks like the fuse directly above it (BCM 6) is currently a 10A fuse. It should be 15A per the diagram you showed at 14:27.
Ah yes the old highly allergic to bees shtick. I suffer this as well. And do I carry my epipen? Of course not. 😅😅
a motto to teach that horribly late spouse unit.
Early is on time, on time is late and late is unacceptable. 😹
Love your stuff.
I take it that you've been single for a while?
She makes the lunch, so y'know, be careful what you say.
I literally laughed out loud when you showed the missing fuses 😂
Three of the best plumbers that ever plumed a plum. Reminded me of the boys finding themselves posing as plumbers and set out to completely demolish a house in the name of independent contracting. This is probably one of 'the best Stooges' shorts in that everything flows from one chaotic gag to the next. Bonus Points here, for Curly’s self-built cage of pipes and the interactive television demo of Niagara Falls.
What is all this? What’s happening? It’s the plumbers madam and they’re wrecking the house. Lol!! Cheers! :)
Second fuse in that row was messed with too. Should've been 15A but is 10. Waiting to blow now ;)
Well that’s all of us happy now, we’ve seen Mrs O and she’s looking well, now back to the video 😊 just thinking maybe one of his mates planking him
I love the dynamic between you and Mrs. O 😂 you guys are awesome. Oh and don’t forget the cat scanner! I think someone either sabotaged that car.. Or this has DIYer all over it. Maybe he was “testing” fuses in an attempt to fix his headlight issues 🧐
She seems genuine. Not to be confused with Ginuwine
Nice to see Mrs O 👍
I put my donut on and it was a little low. Traction control had a fit and kept locking up the brakes.
19:19…. So that ground strap you found a couple years ago then?
Yeah, this video should get some attention with GM when it comes out....
Can you tell us what was hanging out from under the Nissan?

I’m with you about the wasps.
I have an allergic reaction to red wasp bee stings. I can hold bees in my hand, careful around ground bees but red wasp?

Watching and learning....

IAC fuel injectors ?? Suggestions please.
in the last 6 months coolant temp sensor, fuel pressure regulator, fixed crank and hard start and increased mpg by 3 mpg yayyyy original mpg on a 30 yr okd car 😊 Recently changed TPS spark plugs and wires and coil pack . Thanks in advance oh and passed emissions 6 months ago with flying colors. Ive got 30 yrs me wanting more years lol love my subyroo ps when i start car next time check engine light is not on .
Another excellent informative video thanx Eric. Totally off topic question for anyone in the SMA community. Is brake fluid flammable? All I see on the bottle is boiling point of 254 degrees.
Excellent thanks
Thanks for the multiplexing explanation.I understand now.
That's exactly my reaction when a bee/wasp flys in through my windows, run as I'm deathly allergic to them too. You really should have your epipen with you Mr o.
It's on my toolbox. I got time 😏
