You guys have no idea wha you're looking at if you think he didn't know what he was doing. In this circumstance the car was gone, nothing he could do about it. By hammering the gas he was able to bring the backend right around, scrubbing more speed and keeping it off the wall. This is an instinct only bred into people who have a lot of experience, 99% of you would have let off the gas, counter steered straight into the wall as soon as the tires regained traction. So before you shit on someone Maybe.. Just maybe, the dude Mclaren is letting drive their 3 mil car has more experience than you.
He was 'hammering the gas' to shift the weight to the back to bring the front straight. The incline and rotational velocity was too high for the car to straighten up with that technique (which would be impossible to tell without a lot of experience). The spin at the end was caused by him braking and locking the tyres. I do think this was appropriate although it would be possible to counter-steer with a bit less throttle so the front end would have more grip to work with.
+Repulsive Rat except he saved it from hitting the wall. project cars was take this turn at what feels like a standing pace, and oops you just well, omg, slide, slide, wtf is happening. omg, someone, call call, call someone. what is happening, since when can't cars car?!@?
Weng Ten right? it's to break people's sensation of speed. games were spot on with the real world. now it's to disassociate with how real cars work. so that you think you don't have grip where it doesn't make any sense at relativistic speeds.
+bayareanady Whoa that was quick, and hello! Yeah nobody else got video I think, saw a snapchat from Adam. We all thought he was going to hit the barriers :O
The steering ratio is much tighter than standard P1, very effective and sensitive. Wonder how it's feels like at the moment you realized you're about to crash a P1 GTR.......
ap2pat I thought everyone knew not to apply gas till the bottom of the curve. The car is nearly weightless till it gets to the bottom of the cork screw. Hey everyone makes mistakes it just happened to be a guy in a P1 gtr at Luguna Seca raceway.
Kenneth Abuel Wow what a way to think. One crash from some rich guy and you think ALL of America can only go in a straight line. Well I got news for you. There are more record holding cars made from America built by Americans than any other COuntry. Also There are literally thousands of Race tracks not just drag strips. You might need to educate yourself a little bit next time before you blame ALL typical Americans.
To anyone who thinks they coulda saved it, (I’m a professional outlaw super late model driver fyi) he kept in the throttle so that the rear end would come around, I’ve done victory doughnuts (in my shop parking area) and once you’re spinning staying in it will kick the rear end around until you let off or hit the brakes. This guy was also hired by McLaren themselves because he is a professional driver (probably 10x better then me I’m just an oval racer lmfao) and was setting the pace for everyone else. Promise most of you guys woulda completely let off as soon as it kicked loose, upsetting the cars balance, sending it straight into a wall, or you would of hit the brakes and went into a wall. (Ngl, I probably woulda saved it for a second before hitting the wall, my late model pushes 900hp, around the same as the P1, but these are much more aero, and are much lighter. I probably woulda of overcorrected and smacked a wall myself. Again if anyone wants to talk about how he lost control, remind yourself that this is a professional driver and even pros wreck. Jimmie Johnson and Luis Hamilton have wrecked before
The brake squeal is common on carbon ceramic brakes. People will say that it's 'normal' but I think it's a defect. I have a 2016 Turbo S and a 2016 650S with 22,000+ and 12,000+ miles respectively I track both a lot. The left rear rotor on the McLaren started squealing the first day I tracked it. Just that one. The other 3 are fine. The Porsche never squeals . The brakes on both have been visibly glowing at times so all 8 rotors are under stress. Just one rotor squeals though. Go figure.
+elite76 I don't think that this was full throttle.. With 1000 HP it might just have been a little tip on the pedal; maybe he touched it accidentally. I dunno.
Inexperience and way too much power but I will say to this drivers credit, he did not over correct and stuff it nose first into the left side barrier. After losing control he did the best possible thing.
+effspot, I would agree. Not correct to say inexperience since that's why he didn't turn left! I've seen F1 pilots make that same error just pushing too hard.
Was that Bruno Senna? Coz this seems like him driving and he knows McLaren won't tell him anything. The floor of the gtr looks like gone after climbing those 2 "rocks".
WHY are there OBSTACLES anywhere NEAR the edge of the RACE COURSE??? Those that are responsible for the safety of the cars and DRIVERS should be force to pay for the damages that car sustained to its undercarriage.
I could be wrong but it looked like he entered the corkscrew too fast and panic braked, when he should have braked just enough to not break loose and then rode it out or if it does break loose, quickly stop pressing the brakes and ride it out a bit.
Asphalt 8 users watches this as the most normal thing in the world
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.
Ya Got Me! :V
Random skid, lol
...
haha true LOL

Driven by a professional driver who was setting a time for the clients to beat.
Jordan Imrie that is very true if he didn't counter-act the force by accelerating he would have lost control.
He was 'hammering the gas' to shift the weight to the back to bring the front straight. Jordan Imrie well said, simply trying to force the car to face the way he came and end up in the middle of the track.
should have just braked earlier
wow, way too close!
Of course your watching a Mclaren Video haha.
Welp, this is about to go viral.
+gfreeman23 Next up: Bieber Lafiasco
+gfreeman23 Investing this comment
Yep
+gfreeman23 hahahha
+Credit Repair Nerds Nearing 200k in 2 days, not too bad I think. Not Lafiasco viral though.
Well that was almost expensive.
i would have that seat replaced if i was the owner of that car! :P
+Arvind Raja hahaha
daamn, that was hella close!!
+Rick Hoving Damn...daniel?
+effspot Why is the breaking very annoying ?
Man, those brakes are like the ones I hear on a freaking bus.
Ouch! Imagine if he hadn't caught it in time! Great footage - amazing that you were there at the right time!
This car is so expensive than the base model, you would go to hell if you even scratch it.
You know just 3 P1 GTR on the track. Just another day you know
Still sounded fucking expensive tho! Nice catch, bro :D
+Hok I believe the cars underside is protected by a carbon fiber, lucky dude!
+effspot That still sounds expensive tho lol.
+Da Ca dude u so made up that number, nice try though
+derek452 Probably not far off, considering it's a P1 Racecar...
fuckin Gran Turismo type of wipeouts!
+Repulsive Rat except he saved it from hitting the wall. project cars was take this turn at what feels like a standing pace, and oops you just well, omg, slide, slide, wtf is happening. omg, someone, call call, call someone. what is happening, since when can't cars car?!@?
+Bo Huggabee have the same problem it just keeps on spinning and sliding on curves no matter how slow or fast you drive!
Weng Ten right? it's to break people's sensation of speed. games were spot on with the real world. now it's to disassociate with how real cars work. so that you think you don't have grip where it doesn't make any sense at relativistic speeds.
Effspot always is on the right spot on the right time! Great video again!
Awesome Video mate! Lucky no one was injured!
He didn't lift off even after it was obvious he lost it already, balls of steel :)
+Trancedrift Mad respect to him, I'm reviewing my footage of some of his laps and holy fuck he went all out.
I think u are the only one who got the full thing
+bayareanady Whoa that was quick, and hello! Yeah nobody else got video I think, saw a snapchat from Adam. We all thought he was going to hit the barriers :O
Nice how the driver tried to correct the slide by applying throttle and countersteering. Luckily the car remained almost intact!
+mmmakeee Very good eye! He is definitely a pro. You can find his insane goodwood run in 2015 in a Mclaren F1 GTR.
Holy shit! Talk about being in the right place at the right time lol. Nice capture man.
I always crashed in that spot in GT2.. Verry difficult course
The driver's seat must be nice rn
+mathcachaille Hahah I almost shat myself watching it happen, but this guy is a pro, he was back on the track within 30 mintues.
Cue the teary awkward nervous laughing.
What a nice set of quiet brakes there.
trefod go to a race, none of them are quiet
That's because brakes are hot
Laguna Seca screwdriver is boss!
+julian torres corkscrew...but close enough lol
LMFAO
Screwdriver lol
That was almost a VERY expensive accident🙀🙀
+Sicario_Camisado Agreed, glad nothing happened though :)
The steering ratio is much tighter than standard P1, very effective and sensitive. Wonder how it's feels like at the moment you realized you're about to crash a P1 GTR.......
+NISMO N ATTACK 東瀛戰神 R34 Z TUNE I don't ever want to know what it feels like to crash a P1 GTR lol
lol
I bet it's as terrifying as it is exhilarating!
did any damage to the car happen here ?
Incase you were confused, that was me driving that car, guys.
Any underbody damage? Those P1s are low to the ground
Looks like the car ran over a big rock after the spin. I wonder how the chassis damage looks.
I'm going to make a guess and say this video will hit over 1 million within 3 weeks
+waffles4ev3r I bet it won't. Taking you up on the bet! But wait what's at stake here
I thought everyone new you cant apply the gas in the middle of the cork screw. You have to slowly apply it as you get to the bottom of it.
Yes the professional race car driver in the 3 million dollar race car needs tips from a camaro driver on youtube...
ap2pat
I thought everyone knew not to apply gas till the bottom of the curve. The car is nearly weightless till it gets to the bottom of the cork screw. Hey everyone makes mistakes it just happened to be a guy in a P1 gtr at Luguna Seca raceway.
Typical murican who can only go straight lines

Don't pick on Camaro boy and American drivers. Just look at how many great American born F1 champions there have been
Rip 3 million dollar machine...
wdym? nothing happened to it
Why he got back on the power really confused me!
He probably tried to power out of the spin, but the car was gone by then
So why did it screech when breaking after the lose of control?
Carlos Smith Loose/sticky tyres on tarmac... need I say more?
@@wheelspin6178 Yeah, the right answer... it’s because he has ceramic brakes.
did he dieded?
oh man, imagine the smell of the cockpit as the car came into the pits

That corner is brutal

Got to love the squeaky breaks on a 1million dollar car.
christian Lemonade You’re ignorant. Don’t comment if you don’t know about cars, dumbass.
What would have hurt the most the cost or pride?
What a strange application of full throttle once the car was already unrecoverable.
+elite76 I don't think that this was full throttle.. With 1000 HP it might just have been a little tip on the pedal; maybe he touched it accidentally. I dunno.
Jeez , why would he try to throttle out of that? Was already way beyond recoverable
Best content
+Nathan Osbourne Thanks m8!
All the expert comments section is amazing. Pretty sure most of them have never driven down the corkscrew.
That scared the hell out of me.If he would have hit the wall I think I would have fainted.
0:47 DOUBLE-OUCH
Woooow
good spot for some rough. Just that little patch kept him out of the barrier.
So many Keyboard Senna's in here....
Agreed.
That first car is beautiful
Best save.
If I ever see 1 McLaren P1 GTR in person I'd flip out, you saw 3.... Holy Shit!
There were 12
Reece Lindquist Are you fucking with me?
+SUPER AGHAKHANI hahaha no there actually were 12
I would probably pass pass out after seeing 3 LET ALONE 12!!!!
Believe it or not I've seen a LaFerrari but I've never seen an aventador so if I saw an aventador I'd probably flip out
why the brakes doing that sound ?
racing pads squeal
+ all the dust sticking to the hot brake parts when he went off road
+Lucky Baldwin no.
OMG !! it was really close !!!
VTEC kicked in.
Lucky!
The whale like calls we hear at the end of the video is actually the car screaming out in frustration/relief
Inexperience and way too much power but I will say to this drivers credit, he did not over correct and stuff it nose first into the left side barrier. After losing control he did the best possible thing.
+Ken Clark Agreed, I wouldn't say inexperience, just pushed it way too hard.
+effspot, I would agree. Not correct to say inexperience since that's why he didn't turn left! I've seen F1 pilots make that same error just pushing too hard.
never mind , he has another p1 in his/her garage
Was that Bruno Senna? Coz this seems like him driving and he knows McLaren won't tell him anything. The floor of the gtr looks like gone after climbing those 2 "rocks".
what da fucc, ofcourse effspot had to be there to film this. Dude i think u pushed that car.
+derek452 I used the leap to push it.
*Presses rewind and attempts the driving line 4 more times over*
I love McLaren P1 GTR
he braked so late still the car stopped... thats craaazy
Wasn't Chris Harris
That squealing at the end, does that mean the brakes broke?
most racing or track-oriented cars have carbon ceramic brakes, which squeal if you use them lightly because of the material
normal stuff in Asphalt 8, it is called Random skid (very usual in mclaren cars)
WHY are there OBSTACLES anywhere NEAR the edge of the RACE COURSE??? Those that are responsible for the safety of the cars and DRIVERS should be force to pay for the damages that car sustained to its undercarriage.

Almost $3,000,000 down the toilet. Good save.
Gran Turismo memories...
In Gran Turismo this place is dangerous when u drive with dodge viper for licence :)
+gutica 5 exactly!
Bruno Senna in the car I think.
it sounded like he wanted to give it some gas as the car was drifting sideways. someone needs to take the away from that driver.
+thedriver He did a great job what you talking about >.>
+thedriver That driver is Chris Goodwin.
thedriver You’re an idiot. Don’t comment if you don’t know what you’re talking about, kid.
Why the hell does he even rev up after the tail broke loose?! This is the dumbest move, especially when you are sitting in a multi-million-dollar car
The End You’re an idiot. Don’t comment if you don’t know shit, kid
Looked savable. Maybe the electronics got in the way.
Well that's why they call it the widow maker
Fewwww...........He just saved 10.000 euros front lights damage......
it would've been a lot more than just headlight costs
at least he was trying to get the best out of it
Thank god it didn't smash up the front end
Vollgas!
sieht ganz so aus haha
DAMM THAT WAS SO CLOSE
Like what just happened to Alonso
That was close.
*CRINGE...That bone crunching sound of the carbon fiber cracking.
so close to being a big dollar repair job !!
DAMN SON!
+eddiefara DAMN...DANIEL?
Deja Vu
The brakes is weaking
Not super into the dude behind camera celebrating the crash. I just hope when/if he ever wrecks, he hears somebody on the sideline: "Yeaaa baby!"
See?! Even a million dollar car has squeaky brakes
+Sasha zabyv They were meant to be like that.
+effspot Must be an optional $200,000 feature
A racecar spins out, wow…
+TURST67 more like dude almost loses a million dollars by inches.
*3 million
Worlds first.
only reason he saved it is because he saw his paycheck burst into flames if it hit that wall XD
That's well nice!
Was it possible for him to drift out in that turn instead? xD
Nope
No, he would of gained traction and would of went into the wall (or he woulda of done that except save it again 🤣)
@@bellaxxi4116 jeezus christ the comment was 6 years ago
