  • Ball python genetics can be complicated, but they don't need to be. I'll break down the co-dom and dominant genes in the 1st part of this video series!
    Take a look at what pastel, enchi, cinnamon, and mojave can do when they're combined with other genes!

    I love seeing how big your breeder adults are. Not many people show theirs off, just so focused on the new little babies! That Super Enchi OD convinced me to get one since I’ve been debating for months now on if I should.

    Awesome video dude. You explained that as good as anyone. One small correction though. The correct term is incomplete dominant but I loved the video. He’s doing a great job

      Thanks Gene! You're right, that is the correct scientific term. But you probably also know co-dom has been regularly used interchangeably with incomplete-dom..... it's also easier to say and abbreviate!

    So if a super passes on its genes to all the babies will all the babies show visual representation of that gene? Or will all the babies have the gene but not show it visually. Great video!

    • @SNKELTD
      @SNKELTD  Год назад +1

      If it's a super (2 copies of the gene) it always passes 1 copy to the offspring.
      Co-dom genes only need 1 copy to be visual
      Recessive needs 2 copies to be visual

    I have a Cypress Mojave female, what would you recommend I breed her to in the future?

    • @SNKELTD
      @SNKELTD  3 года назад

      That's actually a tough question. There hasn't been a ton of experimenting with those 2 genes. Take a look at MM and see what's been made so far: www.morphmarket.com/us/c/reptiles/pythons/ball-pythons?s1=Cypress%2CMojave&s2=Cypress&q=Cypress+Mojave&epoch=2
      I probably would NOT breed to another mojave, lesser, or butter because you'll get an all white BEL. Unless you want that!

    Good tip on the morph market calculator. I use it all the time since I found out about it.
    My first snake was a Lemonblast H.pied cant go wrong with those 2 genes and a Het.

      It's really one of the most valuable tools you can have. Especially just to be able to see the photos of the potential clutches.

    You explained this subject very well. I finally know what co-dom and dominant means. I knew that super passes on the gene to every offspring but did not know it is co-dominant. Although I do not own any snakes, I am very interested in them and the genetics involved.

    • @SNKELTD

      Thanks Andrew! That was my goal. Make the info accessible to everyone! The genetics are out of this world. Especially because they keep finding new genes when we already have a ton
