Never mind jason or freddy. Vigo scared the shit outta me when I was a kid!
for reals
Yep still does and that tells me they did good
I'm a grown man and he still scares me! 🤣
hell nah the scene when Yanosh is a fucking nanny ghost flying with that baby carriage with red eyes & extending arms. THAT scared the fuck out of me when I was a kid😂
How tho I don't see it
If Ghostbusters: the video game (2009) is cannon. Vigo's image returns to the painting but has been weakened to a non threatening level, having only the power to make odd comments when looked at.
Chip Dickory Ghostbusters: The Video Game (2009) is actually Ghostbuster III ans the Ghostbusters 2016 is just a way to get money from people not actually watching the original 2 Ghostbusters movies.
"I'm going to wear you like pants" is a personal favourite 😂
I don't know about you, but I would NOT feel at ease with that painting juts sitting around my place of work or where I also sleep. yeesh
Ghostbusters the videogame is supposed to be ghostbusters 3 and is supposed to be part of the canon.
@Gripen Draken Kinda happy about that. I don't like Peter ending up with someone whose not Dana lol
It's not the comedy (though that is an amazing touch) but the well thought out plots, occult lore, and well crafted villains of Ghostbusters that I love. These are just amazing.
I love it because it has both those elements and great comedy at the same time. Never thought of ghosts as funny before.
I am very sad Wilhelm von Homburg never formed a metal band before his passing. He's got such a great expression for it, and Vigo-themed metal would be fantastic.
Too hot to handle, too cold to hold, they call the Ghostbusters now they in control...
I got to meet Ernie Hudson back in November. Very kind and down to earth man. He told me that while they knew Ghostbusters was going to be a blockbuster, they had no idea it would be as popular as Star Wars.
You are so lucky Kevin!! I love Ernie :)
Kevin Martinez awesome film

Despite some bad reviews from critics, I enjoyed watching the movie.
I think it's the superior installment, personally!
KingRandor82 it's an absolute worthy sequel but better then the original? Nope
kirby march Barcena I actually enjoyed Ghostbusters 2 myself
We'll have to agree to disagree; I guess it also depends on what you're looking for in a film; if you're looking for a straight-up lighthearted comedy with some sci-fi thrown in, yeah, the first one accomplishes that a lot better. If you're more plot-focused, and looking for a slightly darker edge--more resembling the animated series--than I think this one fits that.
KingRandor82 We didn't expect much before watching this movie except that there will be more ghosts to bust.
We have a vigo poster in the hallway of our office
You didn't mention that Vigo's voice was dubbed by legendary actor Max Von Sydow and that Vigo returned in the painting (but effectively harmless) and again voiced by Von Sydow in the Ghostbusters game.
Yeah. You know I didn't even recognize or know this until I saw it on RUclips. I was blown away. And now when I see it I can't believe I didn't recognize Max Von Sydow's voice!
I did not know Von Sydow dubbed the voice until just recently, also after watching a video here on RUclips.
Vigo actually gets to be funny in the video game: he knows he’s nerfed and trapped so he spitefully lists out all kinds of things we’ve done to ourselves that are far worse than anything he would do.
A prequel movie about vigo would be an amazing dark fantasy film and i'd love to watch it
Might as well do one on Gozer too
Dracula untold was pretty much that.
That painting scared the living hell out of me when i was a kid... Loved the movie :p
same here :)
Haha I saw online you can buy this painting for your very own home. WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU WANT THIS
@@RAEN74 one ghost hunter has bought the real one that was in ghostbusters 2 movie
This guy gave me the ultimate creeps as a kid
I was thinking of Rasputin too ... his death was literally overkill
Ernie Hudson was under used.
AGREED!
Truth
So true
3 years later....severely under used. The Real Ghostbusters cartoon series did winston far more justice
Yeppers
One thing I find interesting is that in the video game, it is explained that the slime is not Vigo's doing. It was something that was already in place and there
The lifespan average is so low because of infant mortality. But once you got past a couple years you could be expected to live into your 60s
I’m 23 mins too late to sound informed. =(
This is absolutely correct.
Doctor Beer can't argue with a name like Doctor Beer
Also, it's not correct. Life expectancy may have been 35 (and even that is suspect) but lifespan was definitely not 35. They're two different things. Lifespan back then wasn't much different than now.
i allways wondered that
Vigo the carpathian scared the bejeezus out of me when I was a child
Imagine how powerful Vigo would be in 2021
One time when I was young, after watching this movie I took a shower and I was so scared to come out of the shower cuz I thought vigo would be standing there. I'm pretty sure I was in the shower for a near hour before i mustered up the courage to come out LOL
Wasn’t he also know as Vigo the Butch?
Venkman jokingly added"Vigo the Butch" to the list :)
aw give him a break . it's carpathian kitten loss . hes missing his ketten let me just paint one in
Always makes me pmsl that scene. Just the way murray delivers that line.
It’s funny he’s calling him a manly lesbian lmao
Beat me to it.
“He’s leading the witness.”
No he’s not! The witness is leading him!
i wish they had done more with vigo, they build him up so well just to be defeated so easily
It's not really that he was easy, he was going up against the Ghostbusters, and they are very good at what they do, they basically used his own source of power against him, when they used the positively charged slime.
Like Gozer, right?
🤦🏾♂️
I thought it was awesome how the people helped Ghostbusters beat him. The whole movie is about bad energy so why not have the good energy kill him?
@@aarongreenfield9038 and the people's good vibes.
@@trealsteve Right? lol
He was soo scary when I was a kid, but even then I would watch it repeatedly.
Great video. FYI the average lifespan in the medieval era was 35 because of a high rate of infant mortality. Once reaching adulthood people had a similar life expectancy as today around 65-75 and it was not unheard of for people to live into their 90's same as today.
Still love that the video game features Vigo stuck in his painting. For those interested the series goes:
Ghostbusters
Ghostbusters 2
Ghostbusters the video game
Ghostbusters Afterlife
He is VIGO!
The SORROW of Moldavia!
The SCOURGE of Carpathia!
Command me, my LORD! Command Me!
HellScream 🙇 OoOOo YesSS!! 🙆
Wasn't he also Vigo the butch?
I read this in his voice lol
destroy me yeah! give it give it!
Same xD
I might one of the few who actually enjoyed GB2 over the first one..probably because it came out right when I was 8 years old..so it was more fun to me as a kid. The first one came out too early for me to love it until later in life.
I prefer it more for the aesthetics and lore. I never believed Gozer was at all powerful because I never feared her, but the palpable essence of Vigo is chilling.
Thank you for the backstory on Vigo! I always found him interesting in the movie and the bit of history we learned that led to the madman's spirits' preservation within the painting. : )
Later on, (IF possible, of course...) can you cover *LAS PLAGAS* from the popular "Resident Evil 4" game and their evolution in "RE5"? Pretty sure MANY RE fans would LOVE IT...
No worries buddy! adding that to the list now, thanks :)
Thanks, mate! No rush though... Whenever you can down the line- Your channel is one of my TOP 5 faves! : )
Yeah me too. Still waiting for you to take a look at the movie Phantoms because you know. Ben Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms yo.
You have the best movie reviews. I can watch for hours especially at work.
Thanks Marcus :)
I just realized, while watching this, that the voice of Vigo is done by Max Von Sydow.
Eric Smith - I'd love to hear Werner Herzog do Vigo's voice.
I love your explanation videos about movies and games, thanks man.
I love GHOSTBUSTERS 1 & 2, especially the first film, yeah, the sequel was kind of a re-telling the first film with some new gadgets and some new gags, but not well receive from critics and fans, to me, their minor problems because I kind enjoy the sequel, my favorite characters still save the movie and especially the villain, Vigo. As much I love the 1st more than the 2nd, Vigo the Carpanthian was a little bit creepier than Gozer the Gozerian , everything in the sequel was a little bit creepier than the first, the abandon subway tunnel still creeps me out, "WINNNNSTOOON", I would freakout too, when someone call out my name like that, jeez. Anyways love this video, it gives me a clear info to understand who Vigo the Carpathian is....or was. Thanks you, it just creep me out more, lol!!!
I love that subway tunnel scene. I wish that was explored more too.
I'll take some floating head. Never had that before.
Ask Ray how it was lol
I watched Ghostbusters 1 and 2 as a child and Vigo scared the shit out of me! Hes the reason why i still love those movies!
WWWWWWWIIIINNNNSSSTOOOOOOOOON!
Single scariest moment in either film 😁
Hells yea
“AhHHhhhhahahahahaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!”
-Quick what was the # of that train?!?”
-“Sorry!..I missed it.”
That voice was scary as fuck as a kid
@@mrseaofweeds9946 same here & I was only 8 years old at the time back when I first saw this movie back in the day when it first came out. Also those heads that appeared around Winston, Egon, & Ray right after that scary voice.
We are all like the buzzing of flies to him!
My mans channel is blowing up. I love the feeling I get whenever I watch a video. The music. The eerie feeling I got when I watched the night of the living dead virus. It feels like I’m watching a true crime video.
Who you gunna call?! Ghostbusters!! Great video!
Alberto2341 He-Man!
Alberto2341 call me 832-242-3487
Alberto2341 , the Winchester’s
Among all the antagonist within the Ghostbusters as a franchise from not only the movies but also cartoons and video games, Vigo is one of my favorite antagonists weather unique backstory and a kick ass design.
Vigo has an appearance in the Ghostbusters 2009 videogame in which he's still a painting being kept at Ghostbusters HQ, going on about his revenge/return along with some other random lines. It's pretty entertaining.
This was awesome, I've always wanted to know more about him, I've googled info before, but learned nothing near this much. Vigo scared me so much as a child, I've always loved this movie. Cheers mate
Last October, someone in Austin had a life sized replica of the Vigo painting on their fence. I thought it was badass to see that close to Halloween.
I love that you made this video. I love Vigo the Carpathian!
Poor Vigo just wanted his kitten. It is interesting that Vigo referred to what he was doing as "evil", generally tyrants don't see themselves as evil but doing what they do to make their dominion stronger.
The guy in the begining sounds like me when i’m not getting What i want.
”Mommy i command you to give me chicken nuggets”
When I was kid. I was very, very scared of the Vigo. Main doors of my parents flat used to be beige-brown, very simmilar like the paint without him. Could you imagine, how scary it was, when I had to go to toilet... Even after 28 years later, I feel strange. He was nightmare of my childhood, but I love Ghostbusters.
Ya boy Rasputin was a vault door, jc lmao took more hits than a old punching bag 😁
Some suggestions if interested
1. Tremors
2. A creature from Evolution (2001)
3. Pumpkin head
4. Sharkman Tribute (1998) I think not too sure.
Awesome! Thanks Blitz, adding them to the list now :)
Great movie! My favorite scene is when Bill Murray offers to “put the baby down”, the child’s attention is wholly focused on what he’s saying but has no idea what he means. It’s hilarious!
Having the haunted painting cameo in the Ghostbusters game from '09 was a hoot.
They synced up Max von Sydow's voice really well with the actor's facial movements.
dude respect for your videos in touching and explaining/talking about movies or geeky stuff in pop culture from the past/present hope your channel blows up in a good way and dont stop the good work
Vigo would be a good sith Lord.
The voice of Vigo was in the beginning of the Force Awakens
The legend and lore of Vigo is a small example of how underutilised the Ghostbusters universe is. It has so much potential, there could be series, spin offs, more films, animated series. There is enough there to build and create something amazing, but those in charge if it don't use it to it's full potential.
Ghostbusters 2 gets a bad wrap sometimes but i always thought it was on par with the the first installment, great vid bud i didn't know there was such an interesting back story to the Carpathian
What an amazing backstory, the scene where they explain Vigo’s backstory was such a throwaway scene when I was a kid but it tells u everything u need to know without forcing it don your throat. That’s organic storytelling that we don’t really get anymore in a lot of movies.
It's ok. Exposition is typically a tool for a bad story teller. The greatest directors show they don't tell
You'll never belive this but while I'm watching this I'm also listening to Pandora and Ghostbusters just randomly started playing
No way! thats spooky dude... But dont worry I know these guys you can call when there is something strange in your neighborhood haha
AnubisXx I don't believe it even if it's true lol
This character scared the s out of me . Loved it !
Loved the vid. I really have to point out though, the 35 year average lifespan at the time is because of infant and child mortality rates. Once you were past that hump you could generally expect to live to what we would consider old age. And yes, though it was REALLY rare some people did make it past the 100 mark. The difference in modern time is in how many people make it to these extreme ages.
100%. People were not old and decrepit at the age of 35. Lol
@@JohnSmith-im8qt Dude, sorry about my last reply, I misread your comment completely, totaly missed the 100% part.
an infinite times better than the 2015 ghostbuster reboot
That's 2016 to you
If Vigo had succeeded in his mission and lived to encounter Gozer's minion that Ivo Shando kept underneath the city, would he have been strong enough to tame it?
Both zuul and vinz clortho are demigods in their own right, and like gozer are interdimensional beings, they are 1000s of years older than Vigo and probably way more powerful and wouldn't fall for his mind tricks and illusions, though you never know
Vigo had a wizard turn a portrait of him a type of horcux so he could resurrect himself some day
This movie scared me more than the first when I was younger...especially when the creator's eyes turned into torches and the decapitated heads in the old underground.
As a kid, Gozer didn't scare me. Kinda weirded me out, seeing a woman give that voice. But Vigo... That guy was pure terror. I do think they could have done a bit more with his demon face, though. And they never explained the skewered heads, underground.
I unsurprisingly liked the first movie better but I still love part 2. I do wish the plot didn't mirror the firsts so closely and that Vigo would have been more like Dracula.
very underrated film, I loved it and there were some great scenes, the courtroom was one of my favorites followed directly by the ghostbuster comeback where they were catching a montage of ghosts!
Sadly they end up as cameos in the crappy reboot and he’s an Easter egg in the ghostbusters video came which was voice by the original actors as themselves in the game
Spartan A111 game*
I still play the PS3 Ghostbusters game. Awesome game
ATLANTA-BOY-1985 true but I have the 360 version
King charles painting bought me here 😅
I wish someone who respected the franchise could do another movie.
Respect is one thing, talent is another. It would be impossible, or nearly so, to assemble a cast with the right kind of comic skills.
Best video you've ever done. My kid watches it over and over. I finally remembered to sign in and sub lol thank you. My 7 year old big ghost busters fan. Just not that reboot a few years back. Lol
I still want to see the Blob explained
I know it's on the list. I think they'll probably wait until the new movie is released.
Bob Clover there’s a new Blob movie coming out?
+Smiler Vlogs and Stuff Yep, January 1st 2019 is the scheduled release date.
Bob Clover oh crap I wish I had known that sooner
So during his life Vigo was an all around good guy.
35 average age does not say much when child mortality is high.
Be amazing to see one about death stranding once it's out. Brilliant video got urself a sub.
The inclusion of infant mortality rates in calculating life expectancy creates the mistaken impression that earlier generations died at a young age; Americans were not dying en masse at the age of 46 in 1907. The fact is that the maximum human lifespan - a concept often confused with "life expectancy" - has remained more or less the same for thousands of years. The idea that our ancestors routinely died young (say, at age 40) has no basis in scientific fact.
Great video, 👍👍Vigo was a good villain but not a great villain that didn't pose much of a threat as Gozer the Gozarian. Can you do a video of the two ghosts in the courtroom, the Scolari Brothers explained video, there's little information about those two ghosts.
sure will add that to the list now :)
Kenneth Clemons Ghostbusters creator... Call me 832-242-3487
Kenneth Clemons na bro Vigo was a massive threat because if he became flesh its game over for mankind.
How the heck did Vigo become so evil in the first place? A messed up childhood?
Anyhow, what took his subjects so long to depose him if he was hated by them? Perhaps they and others at first saw him as useful in beating back the Ottoman Turks? That's why people put up with Vlad the Impaler's crap at first.
Vlad`s mother was also from Moldavia which Vigo conquered in his lifetime.
Fun fact: in the video games, It turns out Vigo survived. And is stuck in the painting
A misunderstood Masterpiece & my all time favourite movie
Vigo is one of the coolest antagonists of the ghostbusters franchise 😎🤙
Who are you gonna call? GHOST BUSTERS!!!
I aint scared of no GHOST!
Bustas, straight bustas!!
He-Man! He-Man!
Awesome video Niyat!
great video always loved the first 2 ghostbuster films!
you were trying to be funny there right cuz I thought it was funny even if you didn't intend it to be
“Where are you from?” “Uppa vest side.”
“Wasn’t he also Vigo The Butch?”
Sounds like a really swell guy😅
An intelligent genius... so, guessing he wasn't a STABLE genius.
Those 2 first ghostbusters where much scarier than the animated last one
I hope you do more explanations for Ghostbusters. Love this video. Ghostbusters II is by no means a perfect sequel, but it doesn't deserve to be hated or overlooked either.
Liked before watching!
Ditto! Lol
pffft, thats nothing, i favorited before watching! and liked! lol.
"One time I was turned into a dog, and they helped me"
LOL, He created a self portrait of himself......... LOL 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Awesome video!! I love everything about this!
I think that Vigo is combination of Vlad the Impaler ( time period, life, behavior ) and Rasputin ( magic, death ).
I was surprised Vlad wasn't mentioned here.
King Charles' new portrait brought me here.
Please make a Legion movie explained.
Thank you and keep it up!!😀👍
“I await the word of Vigo”... *glances down to look at watch*
iN Skyrim when visiting the Soul Cairn, you can hear Ghosts in the area say that exact line. "Death is but a door time is but a window, I'll be back." I lost track of the number of times I've heard that and thought THATS A Ghostbusters II reference.
Good shit
