Green 2001 XJ owner here, with 204,500 on the odometer. You just helped me a lot in troubleshooting an identical issue. Every window went up and down except the driver's. I put the test light probe one at a time on the two wires going to the regulator motor, and sure enough my switch assembly was not the issue! The light in the probe lit up just like in your video. Ordering a new regulator assembly now, thanks!

Thanks for the video, it is very informative! I have what seems like a strange situation where both wires are showing 12V when I press the switch up and no voltage when I press the switch down. Do you have any idea what would cause that? Bad switch? What's also strange (to me) is that the window won't move in either direction. Maybe a bad switch and a bad motor/regulator? Any thoughts are appreciated.
Follow up, even though I was having a different issue, I took the idea from this video (ruclips.net/video/MBNIC_2H_JQ/видео.html) and decided to take apart the switch and resolder the connections and it fixed the window!

recommendations for cheap multimeter? maybe an affiliate link
The wiring running from the door into the cabin used some ghetto wire insulation which was prone to cracking in the boot causing a short. That is a common issue on the XJ & YJ.
Use back probes instead of stabbing wiring, can cause issues down the road.

Does your fuse box indicate which fuse goes to which operating unit?

That’s what I got too, also driver side door lock, if I reach across and flip the passenger side, it makes the driver side work again
My windows will go down.. sometimes not all. And then they get stuck like that and it's been impossible to get lucky and get it up like before what could that be all windows all switches
The only time my driver window goes up is when it sits outside in the sun in 80°+ weather lmao
