    Just want to say thanks, I'm a photographer kind of obsessed with colour grading, but very new to video. My exports were looking way different than what they look like in Davinci. I watched a bunch of videos to try to resolve this (no pun intended) and nothing was working. YOU saved the day, they match almost perfectly now, so thank you. You're a legend

    This has been by far the best Davinci Resolve 101 video I have seen. I finally downloaded Davinci Resolve to make the switch and have been consuming so many 101 videos but this one is great, especially the discussion on nodes which everyone else seems to shy away from discussing how they work.
    Love the workflow and lessons on how to make the flow better and set up presets as the majority of my work for social media tends to be in the same space all the time. #DunnaDidIt

    Some very important things to note if you are using Windows 10 and are unable to upgrade to 11 - AAC audio is fundamentally broken for all exports that use that codec (which is nearly all of the presets!!!) do not use the RUclips presets instead use quicktime h264 and select PCM audio - Resolve uses the windows 10 AAC codec which cannot handle high frequencies ie in music and anything similar to audio noise, you end up with horrible metallic sounding compression and audio drop outs and the AAC is limited to 173kbs (instead of the 192kbs in the profile) - this is known by Blackmagic and they refuse to fix it (their solution is upgrade to windows 11). Also MP3 is limited to 192kbs and Blackmagic told me they will not pay for licensing for higher Bitrates for windows (on Macs its 320kbs). In general Resolves Deliver options on windows are pretty broken ie Quicktime DNxHD 100 exports with incorrect aspect ratio metadata so you have to use QT DNxHD 145 which are much larger, and MXF OP1A DNxHD has no audio when imported into other editing programs ie Premiere. Resolve also has many audio bugs on export which will cause audio to duplicate (make dialog sound like there are random stutters) or drop channels - this is really annoying as you cannot trust exports you have to watch them through carefully listening for audio glitches.

    I've been editing on Premiere Pro for years now but recently have tried to switch to DaVinci because I needed a good and free editing software on my iPad. In my opinion, It's the best editing software available on an iPad right now since it's almost as capable as the desktop version and it's FREE. Now I'm in love with the software and even considering switching to DaVinci Resolve completely. Winning the license to DaVinci Resolve Studio would definitely push me to switch immediately😆 #DunnaDidIt

    I wish that there an editing software that combines the file management of Premiere Pro, I love having individual project files for all my projects, the color grading possibilities and some of the pro features of resolve and the ease of use of the FCPX timeline. At the moment, I am really torn in between FCPX and Resolve. I started editing with Premiere back in 2017, it crashed but I was ok with it, I learned editing on that though. Then during covid I kind of moved to Resolve and I liked the fact that it didn't crash that much, it seemed to be slightly faster at exporting. I still was not that huge on color grading but I learned to love Resolve even though a few things weren't exactly as I wanted them. Eventually I moved all my editing to Resolve but then in 2021 I bought a Mac and while I was still editing in Resolve a friend told me to try FCPX. At first I didn't like it but once I got my head around the magnetic timeline and I found out how easy was to install plugin or titles or extra features like that I was sold! The thing I hate the most in resolve(at the time at least) is the fact that if you want to use titles or plugins you have to do weird things like creating a timeline copying and pasting in between timelines the titles. It makes life much more complicated. Although, I really appreciate some of the features the studio version gives like flickering removal. I wish I had it the other day when I had to edit a client video. #DunnaDidIt have you ever edited in FCPX?

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit  Год назад

      Yeah I used FCPX for 3 or 4 months at the start of lockdown. It was not bad, but once I moved on to DVR I couldn't go back to Premiere or FCPX... I really found it to be the best of both worlds. And I haven't really run into some of the problems you're talking about with titles and such.

    GREAT OVERVIEW! just what I needed. Can you make a video on color management settings? Theres to many options! Whats best for online distribution? Whats Best for broadcast? Cinema? Netflix? Also I'm really into coloring (im a novice) but still, what are the benefits of timeline color space being DV WG/I? Ive made my last few projects with Rec.709-A color space bc im editing on the studio display, but is that going to look different if someone watches my youtube videos on their tvs? Much Love, Thanks :)
