    If you use a silicone spatula you will get every bit of this yumminess out of the bowl! 😊

      Also, don't bang SS implements on these toxic hard plastic blender containers. Once the outer surfaces are cut through, the plasticizers get leached into the foods, inadvertently of course. Dr. Greger is a fantastic source for all things plant based. He teaches that the "new" Triton is as bad as the old BPA bisphenol A polycarbonate, as they are _all_ loaded with synthetic estrogen, that interrupts our hormonal regularity, especially in women.

    I have made these before and I see now why mine did not come out as well. I added more of the date liquid than I should and I should have cooked them longer. Thanks for the tips. Very helpful.

      Thanks for your feedback Trish. I hope they work out with less date water. Keeping cooking them until they pass the toothpick test. Enjoy! 🥧💖

      You for your support! This recipe is a home run and very healthy sweetened with dates and no oil. I hope you enjoy it. The frosting is yummy! 💖🤗

    These are baking at my house as we speak and they smell sooo good. I had to use a ceramic baking dish which is quite thick, so they are taking much longer than 30 minutes to bake. I think I'll invest in a glass or metal baking dish for next time haha. Anyway, thanks for the video! The frosting is amazing so I can't wait to taste them both together. Major fall vibes with this dessert!

      Thank you for letting me know the pumpkin pie squares are in the oven now! 🥰. I'm thrilled to hear you love the frosting. Hopefully more time in the oven will make them perfect. The carrot cake recipe at the top of my channel is very similar to this one. Enjoy! 💕🌿

    Could be done also all year with boiled or baked sweet potato instead.

    Will it alter the recipe much to use a sweetener instead? Would I add more pumpkin to compensate for the bulk of the dates?

    • @kathleenkastner
      @kathleenkastner  Год назад

      Thanks for the question. I have no idea because I've only used the dates. Are you sensitive to dates?

    • @tracyherwig4733
      @tracyherwig4733 Год назад +1

      @@kathleenkastner not really sensitive, I just don’t like the taste, lol. Plus, it’s a little too expensive for me. Around here dates have gone through the roof.

    • @kathleenkastner
      @kathleenkastner  Год назад

      @@tracyherwig4733 thank you for the explanation. I understand. Dates are expensive. We get them at Costco. You could possibly use maple syrup but I don't know how much to use and how it will turn out. You might be better off looking for a vegan pumpkin pie square recipe on the internet that uses sugar instead. There are a lot of pumpkin pie cookie recipes online also. Let me know if you find one you like!🥰

    I looked at the link that went to the recipe and I only see it calling for 1/2 cup of plant milk (no date water) but the video you did plant milk and the date liquid at 1/2 cup each. Which should I do?

    • @kathleenkastner
      @kathleenkastner  Год назад

      Thank you Amanda for asking. I would follow the directions in the recipe link. I know I put the date water in the frosting. I would just do the plant milk in the cake part. I hope you enjoy the squares! 🥰

      Actually, the recipe on Forks over Knives "does" say to use the 1/2 cup of the soak water. Per recipe: "Place flour and pumpkin pie spice in a large bowl. Place soaked dates, the date soak water (see “texture” note), vanilla, and plant milk in a blender. Purée until smooth (1 to 2 minutes). Pour the mixture into the bowl of flour and spices, and also add the pumpkin, and mix with a wooden spoon until all the dry ingredients are incorporated". Then under the texture notes, she adds - "for a firmer texture without refrigerating - don't use the water." Anyhow - I'm making these tonight.
