Whitney sung this in one take. She was out in Atlanta in the studio and she was trying to get to the mall with Pebbles before it closes so she only sang it once. Baby Face hasn’t even finished the bridge when she started so he had to write it real fast. She was a musical genius. Icon. Legend. Queen. The Voice.
The dance scene where she’s all in black is a nod to the Audrey Hepburn movie “Funny Face”, a romantic comedy from 1957. Whitney was so talented. It was heartbreaking when she passed!
Back in the day, I was hanging out at a karaoke bar with my fam & friends and had never sung karaoke before. My classmate was the karaoke MC for the night, and he put me up for a song. I didn't know what to sing, so he asked me what music I liked, and then he picked THIS song for me to do as my very first song. I didn't know what song it was until the music started. OMG!! Nailed it! :) I actually wore out my Whitney cassette tapes and had to buy new ones LOL
Anyone know the classic movie scene she recreated there at 6:47 with the black outfit and hairstyle?????????? I've seen a older movie with the lead actress with the same hair and outfit

I remember watching a video of Clive saying he had Whitney work with LA and Babyface because she needed more of an urban sound.. she was boo’d at an award show (maybe the soul train award) for sounding “too white” and that’s beyond me lol she sings the same way in every song.. Side note this song is literally what kick started LaFace records Clive loved this so much he decided to take a chance on them
Anything by Meatloaf is fantastic - especially Bat Out of Hell, Paradise by the Dashboard Light, Anything for Love, and my favorite For Crying Out Loud.
OMG! Great video from my high school days and, as always, a true pleasure to watch your reactions!! Do people actually complain about getting a reaction on a friggin REACTION VIDEO?! Idiots!
Since you asked me to hit dislike if that was how I felt about this video - I'm your #6 disliike. Why? Did you once take a moment to listen to that woman SING??? I would have appreciated more commentary on the artist and the style of the song - less about the video itself and how to tell if a woman is in to you 😉

is there a video of this?
@@Stephie_L No there’s no video. LA Reid wrote about it in his book. She also sang How Will I Know in one take.
@@jobuck879 Awesome thanks for the info!
@@Stephie_L No problem
@@jobuck879 No, she did not sing How Will I Know in one take she almost did but the last verse she didn't expect.

Whitney looked soooo good. Good heavens. I'm glad I'm in an 80s kid/90s teens. This song is the truth. No, the games never stop.

Always thought her Every Woman song did women no favors, as what, they all suffer Stockholm Syndrome and a drug addiction?
Ask Chaka Khan as she did it 14 years earlier. SMH
The american version sucks, listen to a European one!
