Are you able to configure the devices without using a cloud controller or a local controller? That is a big plus for Grandstream. Unifi devices need a local or hosted controller.
Once you go into this new cloud, can you still IP in locally? My lab one I reset, claimed to the cloud, and the factory password will not login locally using IP and factory defaults to login. Works greats in the cloud though. May have to contact GS.
Thanks for taking the time and sharing Willie! Looks impressive. By Default, do Grandstream Firewalls block all traffic or are they open to all traffic?
@@WillieHowe The firewall appliance itself. By default does it allow All Inbound and Outbound traffic. Or does it block All Inbound and Outbound traffic until rules have been configured to allow required ports/services? - Apologizes for noob question. I need to pickup Grandstream router and play around. Looking for alternative to UniFi. As Alonzo pointed out, huge plus controller isn't required.
Love that they are continuing to work on it. I purchased an ap and also one of their routers. It makes me nervous that I rely so heavily on Unifi and I want to make sure I have other options
Hello Sir, is it possible to add Tp-Link Ap or any other vendor device to GWN cloud. 2. can you use GWN 7630LR NET port to connect different vendor AP and get GWN voucher work on the different vendor AP?
grand stream did have a router years ago I had one that had voip in it granted it was only 100mbps lan so nope did not use that part because I had all gb equipment so they been doing routers for awhile off and on
I'm not sure where my previous comment went....... but I'll ask one more time, what is the benefit of using GWN Cloud compared to using the local controller for an AP (specifically)?
@@WillieHowe Unrelated, but Grandstream vs. UniFi APs.. Which would you choose? I purchased a 7660, and it seems to favor clients connecting to 2.4 Ghz regardless of steering and takes many minutes to kick them over to 5 Ghz.
If you are still being abused by Ubiquiti, you are starting to get very low on excuses. Grandstream has been taking their time and learning lessons from others, and it shows.
Great video Willie! Thanks for sharing. The new GWN.cloud looks amazing. I’m going to have to dig in today and explore!
Me too !!

Yes you are.
@@WillieHowe that is a killer app right there. UI controller still on JRE8 is so asinine I have to laugh about it or go crazy
@@Wahinies apologies . . . UNIFI Is still using JRE8?

Between VLANs?

More devices and better flexibility for administrative.

@@Shamrock013 GWN7664 would be my choice. It's also up to the client which band it uses, not the AP.
Ohh Perdy, I’m working on my Grandstream firewall today.
Great video Willie 🙂
Wow, looks really slick!
I hope they add some enterprise features to their routers and give us a great next gen firewall with application blocking. That would be awesome!
Hi love your videos 👍🏻 i thing i miss on GWN is site export pr at least settings export
They aren't really clear with that password on the device, I think it is the wifi password also by default correct?
Yes

Looking forward to the 60Ghz wave equipment. I have a water tower and 8 buildings that need a backup network.
Heard it was going to be Q1 so we'll see... it doesn't seem that they have a beta program anymore..
@@WillieHowe somehow when I switched from the live stream, I commented here. Senility is my excuse.
looks like ripped off from ubiquiti
They have been using that UI component lib for years.
A feature poor ripoff at that.
@@taylorbornyk4146 could you elaborate please
@@taylorbornyk4146 It looks nothing like Unifi and has a workflow that isnt remotely like Unifi. If its any good or not remains to be seen.
