Hi Chris, Regarding the AndroBench scores for the Mi11, have you tried running the test multiple times? I am getting 1600MB/s Seq read and similar Random Read/Write to the S21 Ultra on my Mi11. I'm guessing there's some bug in the Global ROM that makes the score half of what it should have been.
I think there is some error in the memory test of Mi11 because i am getting 1000MB/s sequential read on my mi 10t lite. It is very weird how my UFS 2.2 is outperforming Mi11's UFS3.1.
We need to remember this is the standard Mi 11 vs the Ultra on the Samsung. Some of the 'issues' mighr be addressed when Xiaomi releases a Pro/Ultra model that adds in an optical zoom (or maybe more than one) and possibly a bigger battery.

I don’t get why almost only Xiaomi phones get an IR blaster this days, it’s much more useful than a macro camera for example, or MagSafe and that kind of stuff. You don’t even need stou keep and buy lots of AA batteries for remote controllers for TV’s and AC’s
@Manusia yes I was going to get it replaced... Till I heard there will be a Mi11 ultra coming out soon. I piad £1300 for the 512GB 16g version, it's not really worth it. Especially when Mi costs nearly half the price and is just as powerful 😉

dont know why am on this vid but anyway, i purchased the redmi note 9t on sale and blown away so when he said no extra storage i was like whaaat? on a 1200 pound phone? mine was 150 pound on a sale and has 5g. why anyone would pay 1200 for a phone is beyond me, especially with mid range phones this good.
In my opinion and because of the Mi11 features, Mi11 has won this battle. Mi11 is much better than S21 Ultra and Ip68 certification is not so important for me because I'm not used to use smartphone in the pool or whatever

One thing I think you should also test is about video / picture compression and quality in mainstream apps like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc.. cause it seems that IOS has a huge advantage still on that point but I read one month ago that Samsung with the s21, in theory, has gone much further with this... thanks!
iPhones will always have better photos when using a third party's camera mode because the apps are made specifically for iOS. You can't get that on android, despite having the best camera. The apps are set to work on all the phones, from budget to flagship, which makes it impossible to use the hardware at its full potential if you have a really good phone
I'm running the beta and it's very buggy not ready for release. Phone freezes, sometimes on reboot the icons in the notification area are missing and need to be setup. Going to ultra ps and back breaks systems settings. Battery ps doesn't close apps you have manually set to close in the background. Not to mention the wonderful timer for dnd and silent mode is gone. This means you forget your phone is in DND.
More reviewers definitely need to do comprehensive videos like this on devices like this where people are spending a large chunk of their monthly income
xiaomi mi 11 is way better, not because of its price but because it looks good, looks more comfortable on my hand and it looks reliable due to its performance

I seriously can't belief a company like Xiaomi is competing head to head toe to toe with a big player like Samsung and even having a better screen, something Samsung excels at. Its better value overall, its got some of the best speakers, good design, great cameras, good battery life, good performance. Imagine what the Mi 11 pro or Ultra will be like
I'm not! Xiaomi is a very, very big company and is a Samsung partner in screen and camera segment. The big difference is, Xiaomi buy new technologies and Samsung created them. That is the reason for the price difference.

S21 Ultra is just not worth the money at all. You pay €400 more just for the brand. Being "slightly better" than the base model of the Mi11 isn't good enough. I'll wait for Mi11 Ultra and get it instead of the S21 ultra.
There have been waterproof tests done. In one video, the Mi 11 got damaged but in another, it was completely waterproof. They've just not paid for the IP certificate. I also believe you can speed up the animations in the Mi settings, so it looks faster.
It's just branding though. Harman Kardon and AKG are both Samsung and I assume the Mi 11 screen is Samsung too. The speakers may be very similar components and it's down to the internal design that impacts the quality (especially bass) or the amp etc. It could even be that Xiaomi wants to offer a better experience on the Pro/Ultra model of the Mi 11 in the future. On balance, the Xiaomi quality seems pretty close and you'd be plenty happy - especially if you didn't have the Samsung side by side to compare.
Very deep comparative review. But, both phones are getting quite hot. Not to my liking. I'd may prefer a snapdragon 865 or 870 with flat screen and zoom (yes I use it on my mate 20 x)
I can also point out a glitch in MIUI 12 and it is quite frustrating: when using dark mode the status bar shows dark text on dark background when watching some RUclips videos. Can't see anything on the status bar as the text and bar colors are the same. So I never turn on dark mode
Okay and do you see teh UI glitches? Missing icons or things displayed funny? happens when the phone is not used overnight I find. Watch up icons are blank and widgets messed up. It's not always happening. And a random reboot on Mi 11 no idea what happened. A glitch.
@@Techtablets I have the Mi 10T Pro, I haven't experienced the app icon disappearing or the widgets or whatever but I have experienced some issues with third party launchers
@@Techtablets on my mi8 the lock screen ambient display (have no idea what it's called) completely goes crazy when I wake the screen. For a split second it glitches and the colors completely fall apart. It just breaks the illusion of having a "flagship" phone.
The most impressive thing about this video is Chris's haircut. If the Police see someone with a haircut in the UK they lock them up for breaking plague restrictions. The optical zoom on the Samsung seems to be the only 'win' I personally see it having over the Xiaomi but for 400 - 500 more I doubt many could justify paying that much extra for a slightly better camera. If there is a Mi 11 Ultra or whatever it really needs a better still camera... but then, if it is thus more expensive... Back to the haircut - lock that man up for getting his hair cut! :-)

Great review. For about 400 EUR less expensive, I guess the Xiaomi wins big time. Also, I've read that a software update is lying around the corner which will do some fixes of the current software glitches, making the difference a bit smaller again. I currently have the Samsung S10, but looking at the budget and prices for phones nowadays, it seems Xiaomi offers most for the money to me. Samsung lowering the specs on the regular S21, makes it less competitive in that price range, as both OnePlus as Xiaomi have better devices. Mmm, hard decision
From Anandtech's tests, the Exynos seems to be a little less powerful and runs a tad hotter than the SD 888 - but it's only a big difference in gaming, video editing, and other GPU-heavy tasks, as the Exynos is still behind Qualcomm there. The performance of the 2100 is still much better then the older Exynos processors though.

I am a Samsung fan and long time user but for the money, Xiaomi seems like a way better deal. I might just consider them in the near future and try them out.
I purchased the s21 ultra and was disappointed with the bugs, baked in ads and lack of native visual voicemail support on tmobile. Reluctantly I chose to return the device. Hoping to see what Oneplus brings to the table. There were bugs in both the OneUi launcher and in all 3rd party launchers, both when using navigation gestures. Swiping to go home required a half second wait before the UI will allow any interaction with the screen.
Man... I really do think your specific S21 Ultra model has a problem. I’ve seen video samples all over youtube, not a single flickering or stuttering or anything bad reported.
No popcorn, most people who watch Chris aren't fanboys. They enjoy constructive criticism, TRUE pros and cons, encouraged by Chris' review style. He is a top notch fair reviewer.
AOD sucks and tends to be buggy on the Xaiomi I ended up then installing 12.5 beta and it's still buggy. Screen finger print readers suck I prefer side or rear.
Well if you dont't need the zoom capabilities of the S21 Ultra there is no need to go for it. Now there's no garanties that Xiaomi will keep the right to use Google services as Xiaomi is already short listed by US gov...

The lack of HDMI output is one my biggest gripes with Xaiomi phones. Especially when 10 year old Samsung's have no issues. The second is no LED notification.

S21 Ultra vs Mi 11 Pro when Xiaomi release that beast. It will be also cheaper, but if regular Mi 11 is similar to Ultra, Pro will be the phone of the year. Looking forward to buy that beast, cause regular 11 is in class with S21/21+ and it outshined them, you compared it to Ultra..I was Samsung fanboy, S4/S6 edge/S8/S10+ and i broke it after 6 months and bought Xiaomi Mi 9t Pro and since then I realized you get almost the same product, even better only without IP68 for approximately 400€ less, so I'm with Xiaomi, I also preffer MIUI vs ONE UI. 13:25 Mi 11 is clearly better in texture for that photo. Can't speak for color rendition because of i don't know what is the real color of that "Hotel el Raset" writing but look at that front of Mercedes, street lamps and other things. Mi 11 wins in low light despite having a first gen camera module vs s21's third gen module. Look at man at right of the hotel that man's colors are so much better in Mi 11...
It would be interesting to see comparison to Qualcomm version of the S21 Ultra. A few reviews showed that it definitely performs better vs Exynos as far as throttling goes.

I agree with almost everything except the sound test. On my laptop the mi11 sound a little bit open with more sound depth.

I seriously can't belief a company like Xiaomi is competing head to head toe to toe with a big player like Samsung and even having a better screen, something Samsung excels at. Its better value overall, its got some of the best speakers, good design, great cameras, good battery life, good performance. Imagine what the Mi 11 pro or Ultra will be like
Samsung is milking the consumer base they gained when there was less competition, trying to be the Android Apple.
I'm not! Xiaomi is a very, very big company and is a Samsung partner in screen and camera segment. The big difference is, Xiaomi buy new technologies and Samsung created them.
That is the reason for the price difference.

The problem is, if Xiaomi needs to buy those screens from Samsung to then sell a smartphone that uses them, how is it that Xiaomi is selling for less and still making a profit?
The answer is that Samsung is trying to make three to five times (or more!) the profit that Xiaomi is making. They forget that Android isn't proprietary and that they can lose consumers very quickly by acting this way.

S21 Ultra is just not worth the money at all. You pay €400 more just for the brand. Being "slightly better" than the base model of the Mi11 isn't good enough. I'll wait for Mi11 Ultra and get it instead of the S21 ultra.
There have been waterproof tests done. In one video, the Mi 11 got damaged but in another, it was completely waterproof. They've just not paid for the IP certificate.
I also believe you can speed up the animations in the Mi settings, so it looks faster.
I think Mi 11 is not waterproof, only Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra.

I think mi11 sound is better because of better brand speakers on both ends.
It's just branding though. Harman Kardon and AKG are both Samsung and I assume the Mi 11 screen is Samsung too. The speakers may be very similar components and it's down to the internal design that impacts the quality (especially bass) or the amp etc. It could even be that Xiaomi wants to offer a better experience on the Pro/Ultra model of the Mi 11 in the future.
On balance, the Xiaomi quality seems pretty close and you'd be plenty happy - especially if you didn't have the Samsung side by side to compare.

Very deep comparative review. But, both phones are getting quite hot. Not to my liking. I'd may prefer a snapdragon 865 or 870 with flat screen and zoom (yes I use it on my mate 20 x)

I can also point out a glitch in MIUI 12 and it is quite frustrating: when using dark mode the status bar shows dark text on dark background when watching some RUclips videos. Can't see anything on the status bar as the text and bar colors are the same. So I never turn on dark mode
Okay and do you see teh UI glitches? Missing icons or things displayed funny? happens when the phone is not used overnight I find. Watch up icons are blank and widgets messed up. It's not always happening. And a random reboot on Mi 11 no idea what happened. A glitch.
@@Techtablets I have the Mi 10T Pro, I haven't experienced the app icon disappearing or the widgets or whatever but I have experienced some issues with third party launchers
@@Techtablets on my mi8 the lock screen ambient display (have no idea what it's called) completely goes crazy when I wake the screen. For a split second it glitches and the colors completely fall apart. It just breaks the illusion of having a "flagship" phone.
The most impressive thing about this video is Chris's haircut. If the Police see someone with a haircut in the UK they lock them up for breaking plague restrictions.
The optical zoom on the Samsung seems to be the only 'win' I personally see it having over the Xiaomi but for 400 - 500 more I doubt many could justify paying that much extra for a slightly better camera. If there is a Mi 11 Ultra or whatever it really needs a better still camera... but then, if it is thus more expensive...

Great review. For about 400 EUR less expensive, I guess the Xiaomi wins big time. Also, I've read that a software update is lying around the corner which will do some fixes of the current software glitches, making the difference a bit smaller again.
I currently have the Samsung S10, but looking at the budget and prices for phones nowadays, it seems Xiaomi offers most for the money to me.
Samsung lowering the specs on the regular S21, makes it less competitive in that price range, as both OnePlus as Xiaomi have better devices. Mmm, hard decision

No it's not bad at all.
From Anandtech's tests, the Exynos seems to be a little less powerful and runs a tad hotter than the SD 888 - but it's only a big difference in gaming, video editing, and other GPU-heavy tasks, as the Exynos is still behind Qualcomm there.
The performance of the 2100 is still much better then the older Exynos processors though.

I am a Samsung fan and long time user but for the money, Xiaomi seems like a way better deal. I might just consider them in the near future and try them out.

I purchased the s21 ultra and was disappointed with the bugs, baked in ads and lack of native visual voicemail support on tmobile. Reluctantly I chose to return the device. Hoping to see what Oneplus brings to the table.
There were bugs in both the OneUi launcher and in all 3rd party launchers, both when using navigation gestures. Swiping to go home required a half second wait before the UI will allow any interaction with the screen.
Mi 11 even lighter and easier to handle. For me even much more beautiful

AOD sucks and tends to be buggy on the Xaiomi I ended up then installing 12.5 beta and it's still buggy. Screen finger print readers suck I prefer side or rear.

The lack of HDMI output is one my biggest gripes with Xaiomi phones. Especially when 10 year old Samsung's have no issues. The second is no LED notification.

S21 Ultra vs Mi 11 Pro when Xiaomi release that beast. It will be also cheaper, but if regular Mi 11 is similar to Ultra, Pro will be the phone of the year. Looking forward to buy that beast, cause regular 11 is in class with S21/21+ and it outshined them, you compared it to Ultra..I was Samsung fanboy, S4/S6 edge/S8/S10+ and i broke it after 6 months and bought Xiaomi Mi 9t Pro and since then I realized you get almost the same product, even better only without IP68 for approximately 400€ less, so I'm with Xiaomi, I also preffer MIUI vs ONE UI. Nice job, and great work!

13:25 Mi 11 is clearly better in texture for that photo. Can't speak for color rendition because of i don't know what is the real color of that "Hotel el Raset" writing but look at that front of Mercedes, street lamps and other things. Mi 11 wins in low light despite having a first gen camera module vs s21's third gen module. Look at man at right of the hotel that man's colors are so much better in Mi 11...
It would be interesting to see comparison to Qualcomm version of the S21 Ultra. A few reviews showed that it definitely performs better vs Exynos as far as throttling goes.
In Australia you can buy 2 Xiami Mi 11 for less than one Samsung 21 ultra. I am seriously considering the Xiaomi. Thanks for your review
