- This mechanism represents the X table component of a Meccano Cyclograph under development. The mechanism finds it's inspiration in the Mark 4 and 5 Cyclographs by the Rednall brothers.
I added a differential to decrease the incremental displacement of the tablearms. Two other differentials are introduced to specify the phase between the 2 tablearms. The phase difference is visually explained by the introduction of a nonius for each crank and has been placed on the top of the mechansim (transparant faceplates in the video) and can be adjusted by manual operation.
The model is only partly engaged, because not all kinematical features are supported by Virtual Meccano. The satellite of the differential (white large gear) is either running for 1 or more full revolutions or interrupted with a minimum of 2 teeths. Studying the geartrain it seems that the 96T gear (Metallus) would be preferred above the 95T Meccano gear.
The model of the video is made with Virtual Meccano, version 2.1.3.
