Gundogan was Barca’s best midfielder last season and arguably best player in general last season. He played most of the games, 14 assists and 5 goals second best g+a season for him. The issue isn’t him being able to handle it physically, the issue is that Barca wasn’t able to push out Frenkie, Araujo, and one of Ferran or Raphinha.

Rival fans are enjoying Chelsea's struggles, but they're overlooking something crucial: Chelsea is not far from returning to the top four. In my view, this team is just one or two players away from becoming a young powerhouse. What makes them even more dangerous is their youth; they have the time and space to make mistakes, grow, and develop both individually and as a team.
Looking at Chelsea objectively, they are a squad of young, talented players at the beginning of their careers and long-term contracts. If they continue to develop, by the time they're midway through their careers, they'll have ironed out the typical early mistakes. With these long contracts, Chelsea has the flexibility to refine and strengthen both the team and the club as a whole.
Yes, the losses, lack of trophies, and absence from the Champions League hurts, but this is part of the growing pains. I believe Chelsea is ahead of their time. If this team clicks, they’ll be a force to reckon with-and they’re not far from doing just that. The aggressive criticism from rival fans on platforms like RUclips only reinforces my point; they’re clearly concerned and trying to destabilize Chelsea’s fan base. Their efforts are so transparent, they don’t even realize how desperate they appear.
Considering that Arsenal are struggling to win despite having a clear opportunity-especially with Manchester City's aging squad and both Manchester United and Liverpool in rebuilding phases-Chelsea's acquisition of such a large pool of young talent is incredibly fortunate. They've essentially secured the next generation of football stars.
In conclusion, while rival fans may relish Chelsea's current struggles, they fail to see the bigger picture. Chelsea's strategic investment in young talent has set the stage for a resurgence that could dominate the next era of football. As Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool navigate their own challenges, Chelsea's young squad has the potential to grow into a formidable force. The temporary setbacks they face now are simply part of the process. With time on their side and a clear vision for the future, Chelsea is positioning itself to reclaim its place at the top-and when they do, the rest of the Premier League will have a lot to contend with.

Well this is the problem "Looking at Chelsea objectively, they are a squad of young, talented players at the beginning of their careers and long-term contracts. If they continue to develop, by the time they're midway through their careers, they'll have ironed out the typical early mistakes. With these long contracts, Chelsea has the flexibility to refine and strengthen both the team and the club as a whole."
      Cau
That isn't going to happen. They spent big on Lavia (€62m), Caicedo (€116m), Enzo (€121m) but also spent money on Dewsbury-Haal (€35m), Renato Veiga (€14m), Kellyman (€22m), and they will at most give playing time and the chance to develop for 2-3 players, that's a minimum of €70m on the bench/out of the squad
They spent big on Sterling (€55m), Mudryk (€70m), Nkunku (€60m), Palmer (€47), Neto (€60m), Madueke (€35m) and now Joao Felix, again 7 players where at most 3 get regular game time. Do you think they can sell Mudryk or Sterling for anywhere close to a profit when they have 3 and 6 years left of their contract? And not forgetting they also have spent money on even more young talent in Kellyman (€22,m), Estevao (€34m), Paze (€18m) Angelo (€15m). Again, one thing is saying you are going to develop these players, but 10+ players competing for at most 3 spots means they won't get the game time and need to be sold or loaned out have a chance to develop. And then we are back to not having clubs willing to pay the same Chelsea spent purchasing them for. We have already seen that happen with Koulibaly (bought for €42m sold for €21 a year later).
Last year Chelsea sold of some big assests like Havertz and Mount (from their own academy) and this year they've been desperate to sell academy players like Gallagher and Chalobah jus because they need to balance those books when spending so much on new "talent". The problem is in 1 to 2 years time the number of academy players that have broken through and got to play for Chelsea could have drastically reduced and then the whole scheme collapses (buy new talent, develop, sell on for profit).

    • @Ivordorival
      @Ivordorival 21 день назад

@@axels9179 My friend, thank you for responding to my post. I agree that Chelsea’s approach is highly unconventional and filled with uncertainties. Not only has this strategy never been attempted before, but it also lacks a proven track record of success. However, what I believe Chelsea is trying to do is buy up young, talented, although unproven, players with high potential from around the world at relatively low prices. By signing them to long-term contracts, Chelsea is buying time-time to develop these players or sell them at a profit if they don't succeed within the team. During the preseason, Chelsea seems to be rigorously assessing these players, weeding out those who can't rise to the challenge. Those who don't make the cut are either sold or sent out on loan.
I don’t view sending players out on loan as a negative. On the contrary, they continue to earn their wages while gaining valuable minutes on the pitch, which is crucial for their development. Playing in different leagues and experiencing various cultures can make them more well-rounded players. The responsibility, therefore, lies with the players-they must strive to improve and seize the opportunity to be successful.
Overall, I believe this approach could make Chelsea a much more competitive team. By assembling a pool of the best young talent from around the world and letting them compete for a place in the first team, Chelsea is ensuring that only the cream of the crop survives. Don’t get me wrong-this is a ruthless approach, but no one is acknowledging the significant risk Chelsea is taking by investing in young, unproven talent. The risks are high, but so are the potential rewards if the strategy succeeds.
I could be wrong, but if Chelsea is indeed securing the best young talent globally, what does that mean for other teams? They might end up with the leftovers. If Chelsea dominates the market for young talent over the next two or three years, other teams may struggle to keep up, leaving Chelsea in a strong position. Currently, only Real Madrid and Manchester City are successfully employing a similar multi-club system.
You mentioned Mudryk and Sterling, and I agree this is where Chelsea’s strategy leaves room for error. They won’t always get it right, as evidenced by Sterling’s contract, which has proven to be a costly mistake. However, it’s important to note that Sterling’s contract was signed before Chelsea adopted their current focus on youth and lower wages.

It is amazing these pundits STILL cannot fathom what Chelsea’s plan is. It’s like they won’t even try to figure it out. SMH
    It’s actually pretty simple.
    1) The agreement to purchase included a requirement for new owners to spend £1.5B in first 3 yrs.
    2) They want to buy other clubs so they need to fund that as well as have places to go for all the young super talent they are acquiring while they develop.
    3) They want wages to be incentive based vs pay huge salaries as previous owner did. ( also makes it easier to sell players in future)
    4) New FFP rules are kicking in next season that limit a club to spend only 85% of what they bring in and Chelsea will be at a major disadvantage vs other big clubs with large stadiums…so there is a practical need to stack talent now under old rules. This will help them compete for championships when they have less to spend than rival clubs.
    5) You spend £200M to buy 20 lottery tickets in young super talented players and your odds of finding a few superstars goes up exponentially… more than making up for initial cost.

City have not brought in a replacement for Gundo since the left which is a player who can cover for Rodri here and there while also ply in the 8 and the 10. We’ve all seen what happens to City with no Rodri: 100% loss record. Up until a few days ago, City were going to do nothing. So please explain to me how Gundo as a short term replacement is a bad thing in lieu of the fact that City we’re going to do nothing this season yet again??
Also, he got 17GA in his last season with us and while being in a disjointed Barca side, he managed 19GA last season. He’s never been the fastest player but he’s always had a great footballing IQ which can absolutely help make up for marginal physical deficiencies relative to younger players. Maybe that’s why he is such a talented box crasher. Not bc he’s so fast, but bc he pops up in all the small spaces the defense overlooks or doesn’t see. That’s experience and skill and that’s worth a lot

If it was up to me and I could get Gundogan to City at reasonable terms and wages, I would not hesitate. It's a long season, injuries to key players are highly likely, and there is room in the squad now that Alvarez and Phillips are gone. Gundogan was key for them when they won the treble, and I don't see any signs of some visible decline in his abilities.

Atleti did not want Gallagher unless Chelsea bought a player from them. Chelsea net +42m incoming, Chelsea spend 10.4m annually over the next 5 years.
Chelsea registered +31.6m in profit, they sent Gallagher to a club that perfectly suits his play style, and acqured a highly marketable player who is able to slot in multiple positions in the attack.
I hope this helps! Feel free to reference this the next time you feel the urge to say:
"I dont understand what Chelsea are doing."
"Can someone please explain to me what chelsea are doing?"
"Help. My mediocre playing career in the 90s did not prepare me to speak about the evolving landscape of football operations,I am afraid of change, and ESPN rewards me for my ignorant outbursts."

The reason is purely a financial one actually. Getting €42M in for hardworking Gallagher and paying €8.8M (after divided by 6years) for the erratic Felix. So for the books this year, it was a great deal. The keyword being 'this year'... lol! Without a doubt, the main winner here is Atletico for sure.

So frank really rated Felix for Porto. If he can manage to get the number he achieved. When in reality he was a player for Benfica wouldn’t it be more beneficial to know what teams he played for. The pundits on here are basically bang average players who are bitter about the club career that they won nothing to make a big deal about. Even the way frank won a World Cup is a joke because of the embarrassing way blanc was sent off in the semifinal which was the only reason he played in that team. Burley’s was a journey man and he put down fa cup winner in his career achievement but he didn’t even get to the subs bench.

Some of those players will not have any and if each game a set of them plays, the team will never be built. Players build chemistry and get better in matches not on the training ground.

@madhatter113 Almost everything that is happening with Chelsea's squad today, happened back in 2003-2006.
Chelsea players deemed not good enough for the 25-man squad will be sold/loaned out in order to play...which is easier when the players are young and not on massive wages (despite inaccurate media reports).

Football is evolving; titles, investment, innovation and sustainability are what CFC has brought to the game. It’s business unusual, so people will make all sorts of comments because it’s new to them. Soon, other clubs will start to copy the CFC model in term of the accounting and sustainability. What CFC is doing today is the future of football. The project is real and will soon start to see the positive result.

Why is Cole Palmer played on the wing instead of the middle? Well because every time he has played in the middle he has been easier to mark and struggled to deal with the added pressure of that position where he is marked tightly and finds himself surrounded with little time and space, so his goal and assist rate goes down. The solution then is to put him on the wing where he is a bigger threat offensively as he has more space and time on the ball, but the problem there is that does not have the speed to counter attack, is asked to spend a lot of time on the touch line during attacks so as to stretch the width of the pitch and create space in the center. And we can't forget wingers are expected to track back and help the defense which Palmer has no interest in. With these points in mind, the manager has chosen to put him on the wing. Peace and love
