These door sill scarf LED lights also exist for Jeep, VW, Toyota, Ford, Honda, Acura, Lexus, Mercedes etc. Apparently the even cooler thing is that, the LED light is connected to a relay switch on my door connections, so whenever the door closes the light turns off! Thus it's only on when the door is open!

Use a trim removal tool (non metallic) to avoid damaging your paint and not a chisel.
OMG.... I was cringing with the chisel on the paint.
Nah still had enough slack in that paint to use a jackhammer and a slidehammer..no worries it's just paint

I'd recommend getting some nylon interior trim tools. Right tool for the right job.

The wires are probably like that because a lot of the interior lights in cars actually work opposite of what you would think. They turn on bc a pulse is sent when "break the closed loop" of a circuit after opening the door. In other words, it sends the "negative" signal down to what most would consider the "ground wire" of a connection.

This is interesting; I see you have your Audi logo display from door to ground opposite to what I have. I didn't know which way to face it but now I see that way looks better.

Next time try warming up the trim you wanna remove with a heatgun, then remove it with a hard plastic tongue. That may help you not digging too deep down the paint layer and so you would avoid rust in time

Dude he means if the car doesn’t have the lights that you spliced your wires from, where would you plug the wires into??? My car doesn’t have any lights like that so where would I plug in the wires for the door sill lights??
You can connect it to the fuse box, look at your car fuse diagram for the specific car connection

Hey so i am also going to do it tomorrow got my set to my Audi A7 2012. On driver side where did u make the hole and how did u hide the wire their, since their are button to open the front trunk.
The video should explain how i hid the wires & made thr connections (inside the rubber grommet linear band on the door frame)

It does work but in my case in the night my pedal light is on so this will be constantly on during the night driving

Do the rear ones run off the puddle lights in the rear doors or can u tap into the front wiring somehow?
Rob Barlow for my car i havent found rear sill leds, only for the front, but if you really wanted to tap into the rear lights use the floor lights under the front seats on the rear leg spacing on the b8.5 audi a4 & then tuck the wire under the floor carpet & rubber sealants ,for other makes & models, may vary
I drilled a small little hole into this water resistant panel.... looks good though.
he could have just lifted the seal off and found another entry point, even drilled body and treated before fitting cable through

I had a same silk for Lexus nx200t but I had no idea how to install. Do you have any video that can helps?
Every car make and model is different, from what I've heard others to is either get it installed to the fuse box, cigarette lighter wire with a auto shutoff relay, or another safe connection in a a vehicle to prevent the light from always being on, therefore it turns on only when the door is opened.

You can connect straight to the fuse box find an empty fuse thats live or connect to an existing fuse you will need a wiring kit off ebay
Mo Khan that’s not a good idea because the lights would always be on unless you connected them to a switch, and you don’t want to have to hit the switch anytime you want to open or close your doors.

Not a bad look just that the animation of the lights are too long. Need to be cut by half and it will feel more fit
Looks quite laggy when the lights do that weird motion thing. Is it laggy like that in real life as well or is that just the camera trying to adjust for light?
Nauris Dardzans when I rendered the video a bit, the frames were barely adjusted. Other than that, the lights do not have lag
During driving it keeps lit on, since the foot lighting stays on. Better you connect it to the door light, then it always works when the door opens.
Ward Van Deursen thats not the case for me, i turned on my car in the garage & i had my door closed & i peeked my head towards the floor & the sill light was not on...

@@MrRedentf no the led door sill light is turned on by a relay when the door is opened only, thus the relay shuts off the light when the door is closed, thats how it works with my connections

Are the sill lights always on if you connect it to your footwell lights? My footlights are always on when I’m riding in the dark.

The footwell lights are only on when the doors or hood or trunk is open, just like most modern day Audi's. Thus that's why I have my LED silld wired up to the footwell (interior ambience lighting) so that the lights get powered on upon opening a door for example & the power cuts off once the doors are closed.

The product shown in the video is made for a 2009 to 2016 Audi A4/S4 and unfortunately not for the 2018 Q5. I am sure the LED door sills you are looking for your 2018 Q5 are made from a different supplier.

Quick question... do you have to remove the original Sill ones or can you install on top? does it make a difference?
Raymond Perez the new sills need to be flushed in with the body lines of the cars bottom part of the door, otherwise, the elevation of both sills will refuse the car to not close. So yes you have to remove the oem sill

I bought it and the seller just send me a message for cancellation. He said that no it doesn’t fit my car and they don’t make it for my 2009 Audi A4 B8 . Bummer!
Raymond Perez yes it does if you have a b8 then it is compatible i have a 2013 b8.5 audi a4 & practically the same chasis design & interior. The seller doesnt know what he's talking about, also because you have a b8 your wiring may be a bit different than my b.5 wiring...

Its not always on its connected on a relay in the car that shuts off its power when the door is open. This video shows the light in motion & on only when the door is opened

just put this in my car today and the sill lights didn't work, they had power going to them but it was only 5v as I measured it with multi meter. it needs 13.5 to light up but I'm unsure where to plug it it and how yours worked? I tested both sill lights and nothing, but I put them across the batter and they work find. Where do you suggest I get that power from? I have a audi a3 2014.
@@seanhughes2288 did you plug the positive wire from the sill to the positive wire in the car & the negative with the negative. I know it may seem obvious that you may have tried that, invert the cable connection & see if it will work
Yes mate, tried all sorts of ways. double checked it with the original led footwell light and there is powerl, but only 5v. were your footwell lights original led or standard normal lights?

The wire from the led sill is connected to a relay wire in the car that prevents is from being on all the time, therefore its on when the door is on

I want to find the way to connect it using the door lights Wich goes off once the door is closed
You're best scenarios is to use a multi meter to test the volts on the wires while your car has the door open and closed while the car is on & off and based on that, you can hook up the LED sills accordingly. That way it is not always on. My car has a relay & door lights connected to sensors from factory that tells the car if my door is open or not. (thus lights are off wile door is closed & lights are on while door is open), some cars are built the same but some don't they all vary...
I got a A5 but I don't have a light underneath the doors how can I bypass this
You'd have to have it connected to a non-active port (while the car is off) on the fuse box & once the ignition is on the lights will be powered on. The issue is the lights will always stay on therefore, it would be best to connect the light to a relayed connection on the car & or add a relay to your new connection
