Right now iam on a mission to watch every dune video you have. I have learned a lot from watching your vid's i have only been playing the game for 5 days now maybe 1to2 game a day but iam in gold rank so far this season. Well thanks for putting out some awesome videos you are a very funny dude and one hell of a player keep up the good work and i will see you on sundays have a great day.
A couple of questions. Round 1 5:50 Any consideration for going Arrakeen and try to hit 7 persuation? Round 2 combat 13:55 I feel Blackmail to win combat is good here, why dismiss the option so quickly? The 2 extra spice fuels your ring (gaining the lost faction bump) and keeps spice away from beast. Round 3 Not sure why so keen on smuggling first action? The hand needed extra cards to make use of SM, so either mentat first or Arrakeen. Another option is skipping SM for HC this round, but with solari in the combat green will probably take it next round before you could. Still, with a Row this strong it might have been correct still, and could have gone for it earlier. I guess the brainfart on Piters persuation messed up your math this round. In the end, I think I still like playing Piter ( Carthag) better than early reveal. All in all, beast did a great job denying you mentat
Hey monkeyunit! For Round 1, I would have had a 1 in 5 chance of drawing Convincing Argument from Arrakeen to get to 7 Persuasion. Maybe worth a shot, but I don't think I considered it, wanted to have Spice for my Signet Ring the next Round. Round 2, yeah exactly - For some reason, most of the round I was thinking I was revealing for Kwisatz, and then I think I was stuck in that "Reveal for something" mindset.
Interesting to hear your ‘purist’ position on the books vs the movies. I’ve likewise been deep into Dune since I was a teenager. I’ve taken - not consciously - the opposite path and enjoyed every movie and TV interpretation of the books, taking them on their own terms. I haven’t found they taint my enjoyment of the books, which I also re-read every decade or so. I do completely agree with you that Frank Herbert’s six books are the only ones worth reading. I have really enjoyed all three movies and the TV adaptations too. I particularly enjoy the different depictions of all the key characters and the visuals from each movie (the TV mini-series don’t do great visuals but they have other strengths). To your point though - ultimately - what I enjoy most about them are the parts that match the books most closely and it’s the big omissions (eg the role of the Guild that’s mostly absent from the Villeneuve films) that stick with me too. So this is a long way of saying that I’m sure I would encourage you to see them as I’ve enjoyed them all but, equally, I respect your choice and I see the value in it. As always, thanks for the entertaining game too.
In round 3 it was crucial to go to carthag. Stilgar is nice but you could have gained 2 intrigue cards and a very high chance securing VP with a blackmail and 2 intrigues on top. Also it's funny how I've played with every opponent in this game :D Dune community really is like one small village where you know everyone.
Yeah looking back it's weird that I didn't really consider it. I think I was thrown off because for most of the round I was thinking I'd be able to Reveal for Kwisatz Haderach
You've gotta try the new movies, if not just to see the D:I likenesses in action. Also because they are great and even if they don't have every scene from the books, it really feels like Dune. The older movie is entertaining in a silly way.
It's possible that it happens sometimes. A delay would help a bit, but wouldn't protect all info like Intrigues for example. As you said, not worth ruining the interactivity of the stream. If I were playing in a tournament or something then I wouldn't stream it live.
Think there was a possible path to victory here that you missed in round 7, Hard to know that the game was going to end this round but in higher ranks I always assume it's possible round 7. IS take bump with spacing, buy spy satellites (+2-3), Research station with Piter for intrigue, Stilger(swords) and likely SMF (+1), then heighliner (+2). Puts you up to 10 or 11 points at endgame. Great game tho, hard to beat beast with unlimited shipping and quizats.
It's an interesting idea, but not likely worth it I don't think. After playing the Diplomacy and Reconnaissance, I'd be down to 3 Persuasion. Drawing 3 cards, my best case scenario is Convincing Argument and two more 1s bringing me to 7 and letting me buy Jessica. But I'd have to get really lucky. I have a Dagger and Seek Allies in the deck, so I could end up with just 4 Persuasion in the worst case.

Thanks a lot Rocco! Let me know which ones you think should be on the Top 10 of 2024.

I actually did watch the sci-fi miniseries back in the day, I remember thinking it was decent. Thanks for the thoughtful comment!

I love the Invasion Ships Tech Card. When used properly, no one can block you during pivotal gameplay.
It can be really good for sure!
o/ Raising my hand in support of more Root! Variety is the SPICE of life :D
Good to know, thanks for chiming in!

I'm glad you like them, and I believe you that they're good! Just not something I'm interested in.
Any concerns in getting stream sniped 😅. In poker it’s standard to put a delay on but I don’t think worth it here for the viewing experience

Yeah, the Spy Satellites had a lot of potential here. That would have been a nice plan.
Would getting a water and hitting research station be worth it with this row?

Isn’t Django in the top 20 players?
I didn't see the name on the list when I looked just now.
