Sounds like Stephen Fry doing Bertie Bassett's voice. I vaguely remembered the Kellogg's Corn Flakes advert, but it all came back to me after watching this.
Central ITV had only not long done away with in-vision continuity announcers by 1988, hence the voices only of Paul Veysey & Su Evans. I thought it was Gloria Hunniford's voice on the last one in that sequence. But I don't ever remember Martin Jarvis reminding us about the Rubella jab though.
Adil Ray hosts a version of Lingo on ITV, which looks similar to the one advertised. I remember an American show in the 80's that was reshown in the 90's on cable tv,that was more numbers based, with a hostess called Dusty?! I could be hallucinating though, I am currently in bed with a cold!!🤢
Interesting I tried to have mine that year and had a serious reaction and almost killed me. Not as much as catching TB the following year. Think the 2 might be connected as had TB for almost 3 years...OUCH.
Should not look dated!!! The picture quality should not be so poor!!! 1988 was no different to today, except that computers and mobile telephones were used differently.
Yes and black and white films should in colour and Thomas Edison's wax cylinders should be in 7.1 surround and Da Vinci should have photographed the Mona Lisa on a Canon 4K SLR. Nob.
@hbk441 - Yep, and the Actress is Kim Thomson who has been in Emmerdale only recently. She might still be in it. RUclips is GREAT for bringing back memories like these :-D
Charles and Diana 'happy ending'. How little we knew back then :-(
"What do you look for in a furniture store?"
Furniture.
Gateway. Some real nostalgia there!
Now we're talking, The best days of ITV regional, Now the magic has seemed 2 have faded away into darkness..
Hi there 80's kid. Hope life worked out for you

That Mars Advert is Hilarious!!
7:20 'All romantic stories should have happy endings' - Charles and Di probably not being the best example.
Now the message it's more a hope than a claim, SHOULD 🙏🥺
Who is singing the version of Beyond The Blue Horizon on the Gateway Advert.
The woman in the dog food commercial was clearing reading off a cue card . ("Do I get paid now?" )..

Love how the very received-pronouction continuity guy changes his accent to Yorkshire for the Lingo link.
Paul Daniels(magician) son I think he talks like him.
Yep it's him.
Wasn't the bloke who tried to stop the woman go in the lift to see Bertie Bassett Barry from Eastenders??
I see what you mean - but it's not him - Could be Jay's Dad from the inbetweeners though....maybe?
Greg Davis No, it's not him either.
I know 1988 was a different time, but that Daz advert really didn't age well!
The TV Times advert suggests this comes from May 1988, rather than January.
And nice surname in the rubella vaccine PIF :-)
How Polite is the kid at 1.43?! We were raised with manners in the 80's!
Bovril as a weight loss aid 🤢🤮
Daz liquid: Now we know what the lead singer of ABC did in his spare time....
Lingo!
the last voiceover is Gloria Hunniford, isn't it?
I hope that radio wasn't running off mains power, not very safe to have it balanced on the edge of the bath !
Do not think that they will do rubella jab ads these days!!!!

I've never heard of "Lingo", but it looks shit !
