It's February 2024 and I'm loving this video. Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
@@TheLivingFarmPaonia me too in May ty for the video
Did you know there are over 330 different varieties of blackberries, I find this very interesting! @@TheLivingFarmPaonia
@@littleowl22778 How many have you tasted?
Loved the video I am 72 years old just started planting strawberries last year I am a late bloomer last year planted mara des bois and sparkle, my wife loves the taste of them.
going to get some seascape saw them at the nursery thanks so much matty
Thank you for watching and have fun with your strawberries!
Amazing
Great video. Am frustrated with my June bearing completing its fruiting already. Going to add a seascape box next year. Thank you!
I have grown my Seascapes strawberries in the cinderblock hole. When watered daily, they do okay. Better choice?
Seascape is the best strawberry that i know of. Cinder blocks will work fine as long as you keep the soil wet. You can mulch to top, that will help.
Surely it's better to grow a combination for most people. I thought june baring strawberries are much larger once they get going? I have already established a June baring patch on my allotment. I wanted to do an everbearing patch next but this video taught me that day neutral is a better option👍
I have a place in Valier MT (zone 4). I'm selecting strawberry plants that are hardy to zone 3 in the hope that the extra hardiness will help them do better over the winter. I've selected "Fort Laramie" ever-bearing and "Honeoye" June bearing. This is going to be fun. I want to get them started this year so they will bear next year.
HI Kelly! Strawberries are so much fun! Enjoy them!
Thank you so much for the tips and this video for me to learn how to plant strawberry I already have 4 strawberry plants
Lynn, in looking at the Johnny Seeds write up for the Seascape, it states, "Day-neutral beds will last for one to two growing seasons once established. Do not renovate day-neutral varieties." What exactly does that mean? Are the plants only productive for one to two seasons and have to be replaced? And what do they mean "do not renovate"? Thanks for your time.
HI, They are referring to when to dig them up and split the plants. We typically divide out plants every other year. You can find all that information and much more in our HP strawberry course. at thelivingfarm.org/high-performance-strawberry-course/
Renovate means cut back or mow down. June bearing are cut down after harvest.
Awesome and Thank You
Thank you for watching!
Great video...
Does the Seascape Cultivar do well in the Mountain West? Idaho for example?
Yes, this strawberry plant should do great there. If you want more information about how we grow them check out our High Performance Strawberry eCourse. at thelivingfarm.org/high-performance-strawberry-course/
I am in Sulphur Springs Tx. I have both Outdoor garden and also i am using hydroponic gardening where can i purchase plugs to start my hydroponic garden also what is the best variety?
Hi! Thanks for watching! I think that Sea Scape will work in both situations
Hi Lynn. I have been vegetable gardening in raised beds for 10 years. This year will be my first attempt at growing strawberries. I live in New Jersey zone 6b maybe zone 7, 15 minutes outside of Manhattan N.Y. I had planned on growing an everbearing variety called Albion. Do you think this would be a variety I should consider or should I go with the day neutral variety Seascape that you grow? Thanks for your help.
I thought Albion was day neutral...
I believe Albion is a day neutral variety
Hey Lynn I am from New Delhi, India, I have planted strawberries for the first time, they are growing well…nice shiny red color but not very sweet…what shall I add to it to make them sweet ? Today I added some kitchen compost hope it will help🍓😊
HI Shashi! IF the berrries are not sweet when ripe that means they are lacking trace minerals. Add some greensand or get a bag of trace minerals from your garden center.
They sure will be super sweet now with that compost!
Yay Strawberries!!! You rock Lynn! Thank you
Aww shucks. Thanks for the shout out!
Thank you Joe! We are missing you! Come visit when you get the chance!
I'm long overdue for a visit! Would love to see you. And maybe buy new slippers lol@@TheLivingFarmPaonia
Since i’ ma begennirer i dont know how to fertilize strawberries sothat Grow better
We have a whole course on strawberries on our online shop! Feel free to check it out at thelivingfarm.org :)
I am in zone 5 and can't find the seascape seeds anywhere 😢
You won't find seeds, you need to order plants. Do an internet search on Seascape strawberry plants for sale and you will find lot of sellers.
What if i grow everberry inside with led grow lights do i get yesr round starberry?
My guess is no. They will still cycle on you. Go with day neutral. Thanks for watching!
If I grew the day neutral strawberries indoors will they produce strawberries year-round?
Yes, I believe they would fruit year round under lights with night temperatures around 50-60 F.

Do seascape be advisable in Philippines ?
I believe the Philippines are too hot for strawberries. They require a more temperate climate.
hey Lynn, i really need your help. Right now im growing 3 strawberry variety's: Strawberry temptation, Strawberry snowflake and Strawberry sweetie. I have no idea if they are day neutral, everbearing or june bearing! please help!!
Hi Jeremy, Temptation is an everbearing. Sweetie and Snowflake are June bearing as far as I can tell.
@@TheLivingFarmPaonia Thank you so much, Would this mean i will get a harvest from my june bearing this year? even though this is the first year there growing.
@@Jeremyveale Probably not this year.
im from Philippines can i buy some seed?
Thanks for watching the video. I am sorry but we don't sell plants or seeds.
Seascape is zone 4; unfortunately zone 3 here.
I buy new Seascapes every year (don't worry about winterkill), so zone information is worthless for me at Broadus, Montana.
Do they do better in full sun or semi?? I live in zone 8b
Full sun would be best. As long as they get 6 hours of sun they should do well.
Adorable lady💡
respect ✊
Straight to the point. I appreciate that.
Thank you for watching!
hey Lynn I planted Albion about 6 weeks ago and they are doing very well already just started picking some but I currently see no new flowers so am worried and wondering what is going on? Please advise. Thanks
I'm sorry but I'm not familiar with that variety.
not sure positive, but weve always told people to pinch first year blossoms because they just seemed to become hardier when you do so.
@@pumpkinspicelatte1731 I pinched back all the flowers of my second year plants and I think this is correct, as the 2 berries I left on have gotten much bigger!
I did Albion too!
@@TheLivingFarmPaonia It is comparable to seascape but it is much more cold and heat tolerant and sends out a lot more runners
Quinaults work well in panhandle Idaho.
Thanks for watching and letting me know about Quinaults!
What strawberry and blueberry plant would you recommend that grows year after year?
Seascape is my favorite strawberry plant. We can't grow blueberries here so I don't have a recommendation for you.
Thank you for responding
How are the Charlotte strawberries?
HI Laneea, I have not tried that variety. If you do let me know how they do. thanks Lynn
I tried Charlotte. I liked the flavor and the fact that they separate easily from the plant, but they seemed to tail off in production, whereas Seascape seemed to increase in production as time went on.
Never heard of the day-neutral strawberry.
Here's a link to the Seascape day-neutral strawberries that Johnny's Select Seeds sells. www.johnnyseeds.com/fruits/strawberry/seascape-strawberry-plants-246.html?cgid=strawberry
Johnny seed phase them out. But you can get the alpine day neutral
Johnny’s offers Albion as substitute for Seascape.
@@TheLivingFarmPaonia Try Indiana Berry Co.
Hi Lynn, we grow our strawberries in Southern California. Until recent (end of June) they were looking healthy, but now they changed - the leaves have strange long stems and they leaning to the soil. What it could be ? Thanks!
HI Miy, Please send an email to thellivingfarm1938@gmail.com with some pictures of your strawberry plants and I will try to figure out the problem. Thanks Lynn
they might be sending out runners. you will eventually see a tiny strawberry plant on the end of that runner. pin it to the soil and it will grow roots and become another p,ant
How to identify your strawberry type? Or strains?
