As for forks, well, they did..and if you knew history, you would have known that Balkan states developed under a strong influence of Byzantium and were among the first nation-states by modern definition. In fact they had a modern like consitution older than magna carta. Its not all about money you know or belonging to a religion founded by a man nowdays considered to be one of the forfathers of the holocaust.
