I hadn't been overly interested in Solo Leveling until yesterday when I learned that Sawano is the composer. I decided to give it a try since there aren't too many shows he's composed for that I haven't enjoyed. I'm pretty sure I watched all 6 eps in one sitting last night. This theme and the Dark Aria theme at the end of ep 6 hit particularly hard. He's so recognizable to me. I rank him up there with Kitamura Yuka (Souls games, Bloodborne, Elden Ring, etc) too.

When I heard the soundtrack for this anime in these first two episodes, I got goosebumps. I found it very epic and reminded me a little of the songs from Shingeki no kyojin. When I came to look here on RUclips and I saw that the composer was Hiroyuki Sawano, it didn't even impress me. For me he is the Hans Zimmer of anime, almost every anime I watch has a soundtrack that really stands out, several were him which he composed. I would like to see him work on a big-budget Hollywood film one day. This guy has a lot of talent

I understand that everyone likes to compare this music to AOT because it is the legendary Hiroyuki Sawano, but this is a new chapter for him. I think we should welcome this soundtrack without the lens of the most popular anime he has worked on. (I am aware this is a big list, but AOT was undoubtably a giant in the industry) In summary, this music deserves the appreciation as an entirely new identity from the rest, just like any of his other works and not to be compared to as sounding AOT-like. I think that is a disservice to this man's amazing compositions.

In service of an uncaring evil god who played with the lives of countless multiverses and had to serve the creator because he was the "Most Brillant Shard of Light". Just like Jinwoo who tries to be a dutiful brother and son, his father absent and doing his best despite the unfairness fate has given to him, Jinwoo was his family's only present hope, just like Ashborn was to the Rulers when countless universes were being destroyed by the Monarchs. And just like Ashborn, Jinwoo had to watch his comrades betray him at the turning point of the crossroads. Both betrayed by people who fought along side with them. Ashborn had to watch his own loyal soldiers who he fought alongside with for eons being strucked down by their own people and finally he himself dying to his own brothers and sisters while Jinwoo went through a similar trial. To top it off the only reason why Ashborn survived and was reborn as the Shadow Monarch was because of his own God's cruel and twisted schemes and Jinwoo survived the same way thanks to the plans of someone else who was beyond him. Quite poetic, the ironic connection between Ashborn and Jinwoo. The most brilliant shard of light finding a kindred spirit in the weakest hunter in history. And both wishing they were stronger at their time of death and right before their rebirth.
I admit I was tardy to the party..I normally listen to anime music and when I stumble across the o.g masterpiece, I instantly fell in love with it.... At this point I didn't even know what the anime was but boy o boy when I saw ep 2 I fell in love with it again.. listening to it now, I start to feel alil uneasy thinking about those statues
