Dude, thank you for this video. I found out about this system last night and thought it might fill my needs and this video confirmed it fills ALL my needs. Been running the QLS system at work but recently milled my G19 for an MRDS and will be getting a comp. I have a kydex piece for concealed carry but wanted active retention (have had a gun fall out of kydex twice during some... dynamic situations) for my various gear setups which are all safariland hardware. Problem is the DO holsters are sold out everywhere, besides being expensive. This handles all that and keeps a very similar defeat mechanism so my draw will be roughly the same. And now that I see the QLS fork can be modded to work with all my hardware I'm sold. Seriously, Blackhawk should pay you for this. Thanks bro👍
Thanks! Ive heard / read that it's possible but, never seen any content on how. So, I gave it a shot with the holster first to see if i can get it to work with the B model. Once that worked, I had to try the QLS mod. Eventually, when I get a pistol can, I'll buy another one and try the mod to allow suppressed guns to be holstered.
Unfortunately my department only allows the Blackhawk SERPA but I’ve seen Safariland make a kydex holster for a Mk. 9 OC spray can. I like how safariland which is what I’ve been looking to do. A QLS for the SERPA and a Safariland OC holster. Thanks
Good luck. Just take your time and eye ball it after each trim. Sorry your stuck using the serpa. I only really trust safariland for anything duty rated. The construction on everything is night and day different.
I have the same for my p226 with TLR1-HL .. now i will change and buy the surefire x300u-a ... Is it possible this omnivore to fit also my x300u-a or i have to buy another ?
@@minasmandalenakis438 missed what you meant the first time, I believe you'd have to buy another. I haven't seen anything on modding one to work. The good thing is, they're not too pricey compared to the light.
Thanks for the video. I have been thinking about something better than Blackhawk's attachment method. The Safariland looks like the better way to go, but I have a TLR-1 on my 1911, so I don't have an ALS option aside from the Omnivore. I'll probably end up doing it this way.
Let us know back here how it works out for you! Just remember, you can always remove material, you can't put it back. So Shave some try it, repeat till it's just right.
Should be able to being it indexes on the light itself, it just needs clearance for the screw on the b model. As long as the omnivore fits your model of gun with the A model this mod should make it work with the B model.
@@sparda1123 thats exactly what i am talking about. The non light bearing model uses adapters attached the rail to lock the gun of choice into the holster. However no mention yet if the adapter can be used with the light bearing model in place of a light
@@markwelch7125 ah, i wouldn't be able to advise on that. I have a spare x300 i use to float to other guns. Im going to guess no being light bearing holsters are normally wider but don't quote me on that.
If you modify as shown in the video, you can use any Safariland mounting platform that accepts their QLS system. This includes multiple thigh rig platforms. Just remember the WHY on thigh rigs.

No problem man. Be sure to practice the draw, you can get hung up if you pull the gun before pressing the release like on a Safariland SLS.
Like this video I run safariland gear as well and just bought the omnivore. Nice to that there is a way to mount it to safariland QLS mounts

The surefire version is meant for the A model. My modification was to accommodate the B model

I have a Glock 45 I run with a SurefireB light. As long as I shave that edge I’ll be able to run my weapon in the omnivore??

If your referring to the adapter to run without a light I'm not sure. If your referring to something else please elaborate.

Yes I have Blackhawk drop leg and the omnivore holster. No mods done to mine. I run glocks and 1911 with the recover tactical
