Before the Pandemic I was playing with other musicians at a local bar with our B Celtic Double Ding & found it played well with most music we played. Also tuning to me helps. Great video Ricky! Have a Happy New Year!
Hey Ricky, I was wondering which Rav Vast tuning is best to play with other instruments? I've listened to many; some seem exotic and best played on their own. However, I would like to play traditional western-style music on the Rav, alongside other instruments from time to time. Which one would you recommend? Thanks in advance.
I really think the D major, B Kurd (and most of the B minor) as well as D celtic and the A integral are great places to start. it Really depends on your approach in playing. If you are going to set the progression and the other musicians are working around your instrument, the sky is the limit. If you are going to accompany a group that is setting the chord progression, you just need to adjust yourself melodically to fit that situation! ;)
Hey there, great vid! Just wondering, if you were to get only one scale Rav drum which would be the most versatile to allow you to play with others and some great on its own?

That's awesome Doran! It is fantastic that people have such a strong response to them in live settings!
Thank you, Ricky! Love my G Pygmy! Yes, the Rav is a universal fit!
Agreed! Glad it was useful Char!
I don’t play or have a Ravdrum but I think some music with other musicians build around the tone of a Rav would be a amazing studio project.
Agreed!
Love the technique! Was that an Aura Handpan you were playing?
