After an amazing stay at Kings Canyon, this week we hit the road north to Alice Springs.
Paul gets some great advice around road safety, towing and gear tips, and we say farewell to our wonderful friends after a fantastic 2 weeks traveling the red centre together.
We enjoy some easy and beautiful day trips from Alice, exploring and hiking the East and West MacDonnell ranges, including some of Australia’s oldest aboriginal rock art, and stop in at one of the most unlikely festivals you’d expect to find in this part of the world.
Then we set off on the next leg of our adventure towards Darwin, heading for Devils Marbles.
Let us know your travel recommendations and if you have any questions or comments, pop them below. We look forward to seeing you next week for another family travel road trip adventure!

We are an ordinary Australian family, creating extraordinary experiences. We've taken a leap of faith, packed up our lives, said goodbye to the 9-5 grind and hello to 24/7 - life as a traveling family!
Being complete caravanning newbies, we are hoping the experiences we share through our Family Travel Australia series will not only have an educational element, but will inspire you to take your own leap of faith, get outdoors and make memories that will last.
We live by the mantra "You don't need to see the whole staircase, just take the first step!"

Travelled this part of the country 45 years ago. Thank you for showing us those places again. Your footage is great compared to our old still photos.
Great episode guys. Just another piece of trivia. On the $20 note there’s a picture of a torso with numbers on it. So when you ring the RFDS, and if you have any chest pain, they ask you if you have a $20 note and ask you where the pain is to the corresponding number on the torso. So they can get an idea of your problem.
Great info re the $20 note torso. Thanks for sharing. I can see this on the older notes - doesn't seem to be on the newest $20 notes . Shame
Great info thank you!
Really love touring AU with your family love the ever improving productions.Safe happy travels🇳🇿🍻🥂🥂☕️
Cheers Steve! Really appreciate your positive comments and we will certainly keep the eps coming 👍😊
Guys , thanks for all the tips by your mate was great and what an adventure , love the the recital thanks Jasper, how hard is it to talk about a windscreen Paul, Jasper does a poem you fall apart about a short tv plug … mate the boys leading here come on old man
Haha!!! I know 🤪😂
loved this episode. We have a tyre monitor and it's really good. We found one of our tyres losing pressure avoiding a blow out.
Also loving the bloopers , koala tree and Jasper..a gorgeous little boy
Cheers, safe travels 😊
Hi Heather, we will definitely get one sorted and great to hear you’ve had a safe and positive result with your TPMS! 👍😊
Wow Jasper is looking very grown up with the haircut. Love those new mirrors.
He is growing so fast at the moment 😅💙
More magic. Hasn't the centre of Australia got such an arid beauty about it. We'll get back there one day. Thanks team. 😊
Hi Dave, so true! It’s an amazing country and the NT is blowing us away with its natural beauty 👍😊
Love those mirrors they are cool
They are so good!! Can’t wait to get some 👍😊
once again you guys nailed this video!!!! LOVED it
Thanks Anna!
As always another awesome episode!!! Standley Chasm (with a silent H LOL) is just amazing!! The colours and the sheer cliffs that look like they've been cut with a knife - WOW!! Unbelievable how many caravans were at the Big 4 in the Alice!! Very interesting about the boulder that used to be on John Flynn's grave - we didn't know that they had replaced it with another boulder.
As always your Jasper just blows us away with his conversations. Oh my goodness - to hear him recite that verse from My Country was absolutely wonderful!!! Brought tears to my eyes. He is such a knowledgeable little boy and you are such wonderful parents and role models. Travel safe and keep enjoying your journey!!!
Thank you Julie for your wonderfully encouraging feedback! Jasper certainly is thriving in this living classroom! Oh yes Alice Springs was super busy.... so many caravaners on the road now. Great to see so many people out enjoying this awesome sunburst country! 🙏
Some good advice from a man who knows 😉👍
Love that part of the country but those outtakes 😂
“Jasper Mangles” is lovin’ life 🤗
Nice job 👍
Cheers Greg! Having an amazing time and loving the NT 💙
Excellent! Always enjoy your Sunday eve journeys! Such a delight to see what you have seen and explored. Precious life gifts, beautiful people to share time with. 👏💝💫
The episodes just keep getting better and better.
Thank you Brentan😊👍
Paul you may need a Hold my phone attachment for your CB to hold it. Check out Hold my phone as they make brackets that for to your dash without glue or screws. Love the your Tassie mates ideas. After travelling for 40 years we do all that he suggested. Greta information for those new to the game. We had Glen Annie gorge to our selves after a 40km 4wd track and an hour walk. Love the East Macs.
Thank you great recommendation! It does have a magnetized bracket which is really awesome..... only issue is that the Hilux top glove box knocks the CB receiver out of its bracket when open so I use the mirror until it gets closed (when katie gets in and puts the caravan keys away) and we get moving 😊
The outtakes: “the birth of the koala tree”😂. Another great vid, guys!
Haha! Where the ‘drop bear’ is born!
Really love your channel, and what a great episode showcasing the beautiful red centre - on my list! Well done Jasper for reciting 'My Country' all by yourself! Fantastic! Thank you!
Look forward to seeing your next episode and safe travels! :)
Hi Jo, thank you for your support and I’m sure there will be many more recitals from J over the coming years.... he’s currently singing “home amongst the gum trees” on repeat..... 🤪😅👍💙
Love the colours of the outback and the night shots, well done guys!
Thank you 😊👍
Every summer gets the heat thunderstorms 🌩️ out in the desert and please check the road conditions from the Lasseter district and into Erldunda from Yulara and flash flooding is a big problems in the Red Centre and into Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, Australia and the most rainfall falls from November to March in Central Australia. Lightning storms are spectacular to watch in the sky when it rains from Uluru and into Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. Storms can be very dangerous and severe causing a of problems there in Central Australia. Please be safe to travel by caravan and the camping adventures to the campground ⛺️
It can get pretty crazy weather out there!! Safe travels 💙🇦🇺🙌🏕️
I love following your journeys - amazing content and great narrative. Your production values are second to none. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
Hi Mark and Thank You! Really appreciate your encouragement - hope you are safe and well and we will keep the vids coming as long as we can 👍😊💙

@@gerdacoonan7250 indeed! Lol
Thank you 💙
Haha x
So good! Sooo keen to replicate this next year! Listened to like 8 episodes of your podcast today while driving Hobart - Launnie and back! Very much like you, no camping experience but full of fire to do it! Do you mind if I DM you on Instagram a couple of questions? Jaspers such a legend!
Hi Josh, oh that’s awesome and we’re so happy to hear you are enjoying listening to us rabbit on in the podcasts 😂 yes absolutely, definitely connect with us on Instagram or via our website www.thefeelgoodfamily.com.au 👍
We had those yummy pancakes there back in 1997!!!! Looks like they've streamlined it a bit since then tho. Used to be on the back of a trailer. I wonder how many pancakes they've cooked in their time???? Happy travels.
Wow! It would have to be in the 100’000’s for
sure.... I’d love to know 👍😅
Me too!
Oops - I forgot to ask - how did you actually meet the Merediths? We saw you camped up in their front yard in Tassie but we must have missed how you actually came to be staying with them. What a wonderful family they are and what a shame they had to leave so quickly to get back to Tassie. Must have been a very emotional goodbye.
Hi Julie, we met them during our Tasmanian tour and they offered to have us stay in their driveway (for power and water) when covid first hit in March last year. We ended up staying there for 4 months during Tassie lockdown and we are just so grateful for their friendship and generosity 💙😊👍
Thanks for all the great tips😀 Tell me, does the list of “must haves” ever shorten????🤦🏼♀️
Ha! Great question... yes is the answer! You actually don’t need as much ‘must haves’ as you think. Mostly these things are really ‘wish’ or ‘would make life easier’ items to be honest 😅👍
How was the security within the park? It’s got some really bad reviews lately about locals wondering through at night breaking into vans and cars
We found it very quiet at night and no issues personally 👍
Very enjoying episode again . How much red dust gets in the Van? Is that due to the door seal?
Hi Ron, the van has been awesome but the back of the Ute is another story!! We will try and seal the Ute tray better once we get to Darwin 👍😊
