If I do ever get another pup I might just get him cropped because their is health issues. Thank you for all the knowledge ❤
Never read one article in the veterinarian fields that has any medical reasons for ear cropping. I've had plenty of floppy eared dogs not one ear infection. It's completely for looks and all anyone cares about trying to make their dogs look intimidating. People always say cropping is for ear infections but yeah plenty of vets are against it.
@silver_spoon5577 We hunt all of ours and have flop, and crop. The ones with the flop get bit more than crop. I don't care about cosmetics, but I don't fancy animals being able to lock on to my dog's head.
I had an American Blue Pit, that I kept the ears and tail, and I never had any issues with her having infections. She stayed in the house, so maybe it's due to the environment they they stay in. I could see how an outside dog, living in a moist climate, could have issues. I got her in Louisiana when I was stationed at Ft. Polk, and had her there for about a year, but like I said, she lived inside the house. Her ears weren't really that long, to cause infections, like a cocker spaniel ear would cause. My uncle also had a doberman that he kept the ears and tail on, and I don't think he had issues with infections either. I really think it depends on where the dog lives, and the climate, if it's outside a lot. I don't like to be judgemental, but I don't really care for cropping ears and tails. In a lot of cases, it seems to be more for the owners preference, than the dogs best interest. It obviously depends on if the dog is a working/hunting dog, but other than that, I don't really acre for it. Especially when it's for cosmetic reasons.
I like that you brought up about working/farm dogs needing docking/cropping for their “job” Those types of dogs are more prone to accidental ear tears & they they worst. First thing a coyote will go for is the neck & head area. If the ears aren’t cropped, they will get bit or torn off. That is way worse for a working dog to go thru, then an ear cropping process as a pup
You can tell you’re a Great Advocate for the American Bully & Dog’s period. I was really into American Pitbull before they were called Bullies in the early 2000s. I had a Dog off the Razors Edge Dog “THING” . He was amazing. An a Female off the Ray Certified pitbull terriers.
Solid advice and thanks for sharing , just recently my got a pup (ish 18m) with ears cut, AKC Ch. LBK’s AmStaff the white shadow “Shadow” and i normally don’t go for them, but he look so close to one i lost a friend few years back, that i had to meet him. I always thought they lose personality in ear positions but i was so wrong, now its not the same, but you can still read your buddy’s thoughts or actions. That a brilliant girl in hand, and can hear the love you have for your pups, thats the first thing I look for when looking for a pup.

I have 2 American Bullies, 1 male and 1 female, both kenneled outside. I bathe them once a month and keep their ears and eyes cleaned daily. His ears were cropped when I got him but I did not crop her ears. I love her floppy ears and I will not crop them for show.
I don't really care when people get their dogs' ears cropped or docked, whichever is the right term. People are like, "You're running the dogs body!" And act as if getting your dog nurtured isn't bad either, neutering your dog is bad to, because it's messing with its private parts because you want to try and prevent a natural thing from happening. I've seen dogs with docked ears, and they look perfectly fine. I wouldn't do it to my dog, but I ain't gonna judge others who get it done.
First she's beautiful. Second the most crude ear crop I've seen was also the best I've ever seen. A pair of fabric sheers, kitchen floor, iodine, a shot of antibiotics, an some corn starch. That dog turned out perfect. I could never put my dogs through that but she knew what she was doing.
As people that rescued a bully that has severely badly cropped ears. I do not condone it. However if people want that. That is your choice. I just don't believe in it. That's all. But at least you are giving out some good information. I just don't understand it. I had a Doberman growin up and she had her floppy ears and she was beautiful with them. My brother had a rottie too that he had shipped from Germany and he made sure they didn't crop his tail either. But you do have a beautiful girl right there

Watching your videos I’m learning about American Bully’s . I fell in love with her ears but I didn’t even know she will have problems with ear infection on down line .
Everybody in the comments need to chill. Breeding business is about the breeders ideal look, size & temperament. That includes ear cropping! Pick the pup for YOU. Personally the crops are beautiful, in my yard I "crop males & flop females" just personal preference.
On my staffy she was getting ear infection we spend a lot of time at the lake then I had her ears cropped now she golden remember not all dogs are the same different breeds have different issues Ty for informing them
I recently purchased a new bully pup ears were recently cropped I had them done professionally at the vet by laser, and they’re perfect, healing process and everything the breeder arranged the appointment. I’ve seen some really nice looking dogs in the past with bad crops and it just ruined their appearance, some ppl choose the cheaper way out I refuse to take chances like that with my dogs LICENSED PROFESSIONALS ONLY !!!
Two questions.... I always her to avoid dissolvable stitches because they get infected too easily? Secondly, what about cropping a few days after birth (like tail docking)? It would require no anesthesia, little bleeding, etc. It wouldn't be a show crop but for a working farm type dog it seems like it would make sense to do them?
My girl is the same color as your pup. When she heard the whistle her head shot straight up. I think she might be a keeper. I need to get her ears cropped.
i’m a breeder of yorkies, i use medical grade skin bonding glue and breathe right nose strips cut into the shape of the ear, this works perfectly and i agree with the floppy ears especially if dog is 2 copies of long hair dies allow moisture after baths to collect a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and yeast to grow if not thoroughly dried but my issue is removing body parts for cosmetic purposes is this, this has blood vessels nerve endings and just imagine if someone cut a slice of your ear off, what gives me the right to do that to someone who can not fend for himself, let me talk about tail docking, the tail is part of the spine, the spine is part of the brain which is something the medical system does not tell you, the tail house’s vertebrae a spinal cord nerves etc, chopping it off for cosmetic purposes is nothing short of wicked imo but since, I think it comes down to the majority of people accept pop culture trends instead of using common sense logic and reason, lastly, the very most important reason I dont cut off body parts comes from The Creator himself in Proverbs 12:10, I’m afraid of going to the lake of fire and forsaking Him, if we all get educated and spread this we can change public opinion and stop this barbaric practice but it takes truth and righteousness yall
Some breed standards you still have to dock their tails.... I see zero wrong with docking(stitched with desolving sutures) if they are done correctly by the vet/vet tech/experienced breeder, done with the dewclaws at 2 to 4 days old! I have Bred, shown, train, rehab, and rescue for 25 years.
@@Twisted.Ginger dogs like Boston terriers, jack Russell's, Rottweilers ect are "docked tail breeds" and (born with no tails.)
