I’m a 14 year old boy and I am skinny and right now I’m grinding my ass of to gain some muscle, having aortic valve disease can cause some obstacles for me though, I’m only allowed to squat bench and deadlift the bar (45lbs) as a safety precaution. I move past these obstacles but with safety I am getting stronger as I go, this is a real challenge and motivates me to get stronger, good luck to any of you guys out there doing the same, with this disease! Workout but workout with safety first

Do you have a genetic disease? Get a genetic test or speak to your doctor about Marfan Syndrome that might be the cause its a genetic disease people are born with

I know your frustration. I have a bicuspid aortic valve that caused an ascending aortic aneurysm. Mines 4.7 cm but I was born with this. I did drywall forn37 years lifting 12 ft sheetrock by myself and I work extremely hard. And I also have been building a house. So mine hasent grown but makes me wonder if I've had this my whole life and its just enlarged over a long period of time. Im 53 and am so frustrated cause I cant be the super human I used to be.

Even for after an aortic dissection with a stent? I am 21 and was 19 and tore my aorta at water polo practice. I struggle on a day to day basis because I can’t reach that level of adrenaline anymore specially on 3 different bp medications. What exercises could I do?

I benched heavy for years in 400s plus. I had a ascending auortic aneurysm 5.2 cm discovered in late 2015 in jan 2016 had the operation at mount Sinai hospital ny dr Allen stewart!! Had whole aourtic arch replaced dr saved my valve. I had juiced (steriods) lifted heavy, and had high blood pressure 😶 dr Allen stewart said thought it was definitely blood pressure and or genetic weakness in that area. Get ct scan's with contrast for checkup of all arteries, heart and aorta..Do not do nuclear stress tests inaccurate the insurance companies do not like to cover ct scan's..ct scan saved my life, nuclear stress test and echo never saw the 5.2 cm killer.

I'm searching for causes as well. Recent echo showed 4cm ascending aorta, I lift heavy and do BJJ 3 x per week, now I'm told I have to give it up. I never had high bp, never smoked, and no genetic issues that I know of. It doesn't make sense. I've only been lifting 10 years, I'm at a loss to explain it.

Since being diagnosed with ascending thoracic aortic aneurysm of 3.9 cm I have been very careful of how I exercise. I am told it is okay to do cardio but not push too hard and I can do bodyweight exercise and light dumbbells. I do higher repititions to get a good workout.

@@sherrid5315 Mine was 3.9 and now is at 4.0 cm. I have known for a little over 2 years. I am doing well thank you. I exercise daily but don't push too hard. I do walking, cycling, bodyweight training and light dumbbells. I am told just be mindful of it and don't worry. Follow a heart healthy diet and don't smoke. I never was a smoker anyway. I go back every six months for testing like stress test, nuclear stress testing, holter monitors and echocardiogram. I have always had high blood pressure since I was a child! Genetic defects. So I do my best to stay healthy and live my life. I avoid lifting anything super heavy and it seems to be okay. There is no need to be concerned unless it gets over 5cm...then they will send me to a thoracic surgeon. Live your life and stay healthy and happy. Best wishes to you.

I have congenetal biscupid aortic stenosis and regurgitation. im 26 i exersize very hard doing cardio and weight training i have never experienced any symtoms or had to stop due to my heart. i just have an echocardiagram every 4-5 years. however whats the chances of my condition worsening if i continue to persue my exersize program i am hopeing to join the british army and im currently appealing my rejection on medical grounds at the moment. As they declare me unfit due to my condition however the do accecpt appeals on the grounds that my condition is stable and unlikely to worsen i just have to backbthat up with medical evidence
