That was probably one of the most technical fights I've seen this year. Inoue showed every attribute you want to see in a fighter: speed, accuracy, timing, IQ, consistency, punch selection, punch placement, footwork, counters, defense, ring generalship, effective aggression, patience and of course power! Solid performance indeed. Shoutout to Tapales too! He was alot better than i expected, he showed he belonged in the ring to atleast compete at that level and even though he came up short I was still impressed.

Even blocked punches affect his opponents. That is the reason that people throw a lot less punches than they would normally . In some of his earlier fights He had a couple knockdowns and even a KO where the punch was completely blocked. You can’t just stand there and block his shots you need to make him miss completely and then counter. Easier said than done.
No he is not. He's fought 98% nobodies. Won't leave Japan. If he does, he'll lose his state of comfort and much strength due to time zone adaptations and changes in air pressure and elevation. Although Curmel Moton, despite being new, would KO Inoue anywhere and anyday.

INoue's ability to fight on the inside and roll and slip and counter shots on the inside is extremely underrated. IF you watch his sparrings, he works alot on the inside and fighting off the ropes with counters.
Inoue my favorite fighter of all time. He’s that good. I’m impressed Tapales withstood the monster’s shots that I thought would have put him down but he still standing.

If you noticed, every time naoya landed clean or even got through the guard for a partially clean straight right, tapales stumbled back, wobbled momentarily. Naoya was hurting him every time he landed well, the guy has serious power. The last 2 straight rights, the first hurt him behind the guard and the 2nd broke through it. These things are rarely seen at such small weights.
Gotta take into consideration how many power punches tapales blocked with that left hand. He hardly let that left hand go. Must've been injured at some point blocking those power punches inoue was throwing. By the later rounds, the high guard just failed and the monster went thru that left side as well.

In the interview the day after the fight, Inoue said he had zero damage and his father said he was glad the fight went ten rounds and that Inoue took a good few hits so that people wouldn't criticize Inoue as taking easy fights. It was barely more than an extended sparring session for Inoue.

But who else thinks that this KO stoppage seems so out of place and strange if you have watched the whole fight. Tapales avoided all the heavy punches, and even applied the shoulder role for a couple of rounds. The first right cross of Inoue, right before the knockdown, landed 100% on Tapales left guarding hand. But Tapales was pushed back by the punch. So now why would Tapales stand directly in front of Inoue again with his high guard instead of moving back, pivoting to the side, bob and weave, or do whatever, instead of just stand there for Inoue to be able to load up on with this big right cross, the exact same punch that landed a few seconds earlier on Tapales guard, to let Inoue knock him down and end the fight like this. I say it again, if you watched the whole fight, this finish doesn’t make any sense and it seems completely fake. It seems like Tapales was paid to take that shot and go down in the 10th. I’m not saying Tapales would have won the fight otherwise, but maybe they wanted to add something dramatic to Inoues reputation of him being the “monster”.

Canelo's is probably a bit slower than the "average️" elite boxer, but is able to make up for his lack of speed by efficiently cutting off the ring and cutting off exits by using certain offensive tools and positioning. Inoue's footwork is completely different. If he wants, he can very easily dart in quickly, dart out quickly, spin out to the side, etc. His feet are very fast when he's in the mood to box. Very clearly displayed in the Fulton fight when he was in "boxer mode."
He surgically koed the 39 year old, after that same donaire had 3 top tier Kos against top opponents. And he went toe to toe against a 37-36 year old donaire at the cream of the crop wbss tournament. Naoya cuts off distance like nobody else and while throwing massive shots.
The stacking stuff is overblown. You're only allowed to do it on the back of your hands and the wrists, not the knuckles, it's legal in Nevada and Texas too. Fighters do it for extra protection from breaking their shit, and Inoue has injured his hands a few times; same reason he wears Winning gloves instead of Cleto Reyes of Everlast MX despite being a puncher.
He has marketing leverage among his countrymen, but once your name come up in PED conversations, I'd need that Olympic testing to fight him but with his leverage the b side can't impose that

Inoue went to war, but clearly beat Donaire in both fights--in fact, arguably even got robbed of a potential knockout in the first fight when Donaire turned his back from a liver shot and the referee got in between them for no reason. As for the rematch, Inoue slaughtered Donaire. 🤷🏾♂
As for the original poster, both Inoue and Canelo have perfectly fine footwork. Canelo's is probably a bit slower than the "average️" elite boxer, but is able to make up for his lack of speed by efficiently cutting off the ring and cutting off exits by using certain offensive tools and positioning. Inoue's footwork is completely different. If he wants, he can very easily dart in quickly, dart out quickly, spin out to the side, etc. His feet are very fast when he's in the mood to box. Very clearly displayed in the Fulton fight when he was in "boxer mode."

The stacking stuff is overblown. You're only allowed to do it on the back of your hands and the wrists, not the knuckles, it's legal in Nevada and Texas too. Fighters do it for extra protection from breaking their shit, and Inoue has injured his hands a few times; same reason he wears Winning gloves instead of Cleto Reyes of Everlast MX despite being a puncher.
