I've flown close to 100 different types over the last 45 years. The DA42 is one of my all-time favorite aircraft. It's an absolute dream to fly, incredibly well-behaved and has one of the widest performance envelopes I've ever seen. It absolutely sips fuel. It's my dream non-turbine personal airplane.

This aircraft is simply gorgeous and awesome to fly and exactly so smooth to fly as a Boeing 747-400 or Boeing 747-8i! I love it so very much and I would recommend it for anyone else! In my own opinion about it - simply the best of its kind!

The DA42 is an amazing aircraft, especially diesel equipped, allowing long cross country flights and great fuel economy. The DA62 is even more amazing--it is all about seat miles per gallon, and the efficiency of the Internal Combustion Engine vs. the turboprop and turbofan.

It doesn't matter how capable the aircraft is, the fact that I have to move the rudder pedals instead of the seat does my head in

What is the engine overhaul time?

The information that I’m seeing is that it’s just been upgraded from 1500 up to 1800.
I’m a little confused though because it’s stated as “TBO”. I previously thought it was “TBR” (time between replacement).
Either way, I don’t know what the cost is.

You said the exterior is durable, but not easy to maintain? What do you mean?

Yes OMG i love this aircraft. I live SE of Chicago 40 miles. I would fly to each State Capitol in the USA, Then continue west. I would travel the world 2-4 days each city country eat some amazing food. 1100 nautical miles seriously. What a amazing trip id have planed. Plus flying with the Best aircraft. My Goal Actually is to become a pilot who makes short
jumps or hops. As long as i'm flying everyday im happy.

Since you can't rebuild the engines and the high cost of new ones will break you

I'm sorry, but this is not a review, it's a promo. DA42 is fun to fly for sure, but saying that it compares to nothing of its kind... With full tanks it's a two-seater that will fly no faster than a C182 and cost like a Beech Baron.

What other aircraft can do these speeds and range on 12 gph of Jet-A?? I can't think of one. As for useful load, the perfect airplane gives you the option to trade useful load for range. 90% of G.A. flying has been either solo or with one person. The DA42 can easily give me six hours of range with one other person. Or I can fill the seats and fly 3 hours which is about the longest four people are going to want to fly. I owned a 182 and it's definitely faster than my 182 and does it on less fuel with the redundancy of two engines, two alternators, etc. I have quite a bit of Baron time, too, burning three times the fuel of the DA42! It truly is a unique aircraft in this space.

..."fly no faster than a C182:...? At 12,500' I see 135 kt TAS on our 182. Just sayin'.
