Usually 1 word replies for me means they don't wanna talk anymore. Like saying "ok" to something and just leaving the entire conversation like that means they have no interest in talking so I don't even bother after that.
I think this game shouldn't be played all the time otherwise the other person will lose interest.

When I get short replies to my messages, I usually consider it rude and move on. Some actions can string me along but that's not one of them. Maybe I'm just too old for all that nonsense. But one thing I will say and that's that I can't remember ever getting with a girl that played hard to get. It was always people who were honest with their emotions to a point.
