    I also deal with cnc machines myself. Sometimes, however, it is very enjoyable to see how others do it. Awesome video guys! Thank you for creating these! Iam now your channel subscriber.

    Hello Keith, I'm currently developing the CAD model for the BAE Hawk. Can you please help me with the type of aerofoil used for the wing section?

    • @rckeith
      @rckeith  2 года назад

      I didn't use the original aerofoil because for RC models they usually don't work very well. I used a Clark-Y. As you may have discovered its difficult to find information on the original aerofoil. Thats why I used one suited to small RC models.
      Hope that helps

      There weren't any plans for this plane. I just used an image and everything was created in DevFus Foam. The image was just a 3 view of the BAE Hawk from the internet. www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints/modernplanes/bae/84948/view/british_aerospace_bae_hawk_t1/

    what program did you use to get tje wing rib sizes

    • @rckeith
      @rckeith  4 года назад

      It was all done with DevWing Foam. I used DraftSight with a scaled image of the Hawk so I could get the wingspan, root and tip chord. I then used the dimensions in DevWing Foam to create the wing. There are no actual ribs with it being a foam wing. DevWing Foam then generates the g-code for the foam cutter to create the wing. Have a look at my tutorial on DevWing Foam ruclips.net/video/pjx6_OrfhVQ/видео.html which shows the process.

    What foam did you use for this project?

    • @rckeith
      @rckeith  6 лет назад +1

      Its XPS foam, similar to blue foam. I will be covering the wings in Brown paper and white glue. Have a video on my channel showing how to do that. The fuselage I will covering in poly-c did that on my Hawker Hurricane. The brown paper and white glue makes a really strong wing with a carbon spar that going is as well. Thanks for watching

      Just out of interest, is there a particular brand/vendor for this foam? I've had a look at the local B&Qs/Wickes/Homebase stores and can only find the low density XPS70 (white) polystyrene. Thanks.

    • @rckeith
      @rckeith  6 лет назад +1

      I think it was knauf xps but can't be certain now. I've used all mine up and have been looking for more and like you can't find it at Wickes or B&Q anymore. There is company called SIG that seem to have branches in most UK big cities which seem to have a lot of choice. You could use the white foam which when covered makes a strong wing or fuselage. I'll probably use that next. Sorry can't be anymore help

      @@rckeith Thanks for the info , I've located a SIG branch reasonably local to me. I gave them a call and they have stock of Dow Floormate (blue foam) so I will be heading over at some point after Xmas.

      @@MLucasFTW That's good news. I think I'll need to go as well for my next build. 👍

    What type of foam do you use?

    • @rckeith
      @rckeith  3 года назад

      I use polystyrene foam and XPS. The fuselage used in this video was made with XPS. I use polystyrene mainly for wings with carbon spars and covered with Brown paper and PVA glue. I have a video on the channel showing that.
