Hello Bin, it is really great video! Thank you so much. I wonder if there is a way to do the same with curtain panels and assigning it to the rooms as well ?
I think I have tried this a while ago, but it did not work because the curtain panels could not pick up the room information. I will have another try later.
Hi Bin, Thank you for your work here, it has helped me tremendously. I do have one question, do you have a work around for glazed external sliding doors within the same schedule? Thank in advance.
I am not sure about your question. Are you asking about removing the door from this schedule? If that's the case, it's likely because this sliding door is currently classified as a window family. To resolve this, you'll need to edit the family and reclassify it as a door family.
Thanks for that. Great explanation! However , to work out natural light properly you need to know the area of glazing excluding frames. Do you know how i can do that?
I think we can. If we can get the perimeter of the window ( width*2+height*2), and multiply it with the width of the frame, we can get the rough area of the window frame. However, it will become too complicated if there are any internal mullions or transoms. So, I guess it will be more reasonable to multiply the window area with a certain percentage, such as 90% or slim frames, or 80% for heavier, thicker frames. What do you think?
Maybe we can have a parameter from the window family itself where it calculate the glazed/opening total area. Set the glaze windows subcategory in Identity Data to be as opening.
Hi Bin, how do you change glass sliding door from door family to window family. If a room has both windows and sliding doors I can' have in the same schedule?
You can Edit the family and change the category from door to window in Family Category and Parameters. However, I do not recommend it because this will mess up your drawing, eg. tags, schedules. I did try the Multi-Category Schedules to include both window and door category. However, they do not shared the Width and Height parameter although the names of parameters are the same. It is possible to create project or shared parameter for both category, then use Dynamo to automatically copy the data from the families, but I do not think it is a good idea. Fortunately, whenever there are full height glass doors, there should be enough natural light in that room. :)

Thank you again Bin 😊
Very well and easily presented, thank from Johannesburg.
Thank you for this video, i learned a lot!

Kindly recommended: multi category will save lot of time, even in small projects ;)
Hi Bin is there a video on fenestration please?
Can you show me some example please?
@Tebogo Matlhare, you can use the same methodology for Windows & Doors, separate schedules, add Phase Created & Mark to identify the Windows.
