Man I appreciate you so much I learned how to paint from an old buddy who’s had a business for about 20years now and he’s retiring. I’m 23 and I have more than enough skills and experience to paint anything that gets thrown my way. I’m now starting my own painting business and I’d saw it too many times where no job costing was implemented and we ran over budget and guess work was about the only way an estimate happened. I was clueless on how to get profitable while building the company i could only manage to sustain myself but you’re lessons have put a curve in that and now I actually have the confidence from creating production rates to give an estimate to the customer directly. I could go on man but seriously I can’t thank you enough!

Your not wrong I appreciate your knowledge sharing. If I had to wear paint whites and a t shirt I'd rather not paint anymore . Please consider customized tank tops .

My 4th video and again all true. I wish I didn’t have to learn all this the hard way and figure it all out as I went along my 30 years of doing this. I was all self taught, but at least I got it all figured out, finally. I started doing the job costing as I went along starting a few years ago. Yes, a lot of this is common sense, it must be because I figured it all out myself, but unfortunately for most people, common sense is a lost art!

Amazing video! Appreciate it so much. I actually started a painting business this year and I didn't follow these rules and I can really tell it bit me in the ass. But I'm looking forward to next year and implementing all these. Thank you so much! I'm definitely going to be looking at more of your content and opportunities.

Very informative, regarding materials you calculate the paint along with the materials right ? so you double the paint cost? paint is already expensive enough. Dumb question i know. And what about pricing by square feet ? Seems like doing hourly like this is alot simpler but when i get new construction house the contractor wants to know by squarefeet

You should be getting a contractor discount from you paint store. The more you buy on your account the more discount you will receive. Mark it up to retail cost. It may not be 50%, but even 10 or 25 % is a good start.

How do I compensate my time for all of the things I have to do other than swinging a brush?... I am constantly on the phone after hours networking , estimates. Communicating with customers etc. Then i paint and run a crew all day. Please help if you have any suggestions... the candle is burning at both ends for sure

    Isn't double or doubling, a 100% mark-up? Not 50% ?. Paying your help $25, then charging the client $50 is a 100% mark-up.

Phenomenal video. Very informative and to the point. I’m buying into a painting company that has been in business for almost 30 years. The owner has no kids and no family. He wants someone to take it over so here I am writing estimates for him working my way into it. Your videos help me a lot! 🫡
