    They should forget about the power , i think the most important upgrade they could do it perhaps make the seat comfortable because the stock seat it by far the most uncomfortable seat I have ever sat on . 30 minutes at best . The sundowner is a little better but maybe a rethink on the padding used .

    I’m just wondering with the expense of these bikes would it kill Harley to just offer the nightster special instrument gauge?

    I don't understand why they would make the 117s at slightly different configurations with slightly different power outputs. I do believe Harley has been doing a great job on their bikes. Extremely happy with My 2024 Street Glide so far. 7,500 miles in just 5 months 😎😁

      I think it's a rather genius idea. HD has been putting the same motor in all softails for awhile, the past couple years of the LRS and BR aside. Now with 3 different tunes, which I'd assume are cam/intake/exhaust, maybe even heads, they can tailor and differentiate how the models perform, while keeping production easy; same bottom end, cylinders, pistons etc.

    • @NicePantsLance
      @NicePantsLance 6 дней назад +1

      It works for Triumph! Their 1200cc twin comes in 3 different states of tune between the speed twin, bobber, and scrambler.

    Thanks for the info, I think with just the improvements you listed that Indian has been caught with their pants down. Indian needs to dump the 111 and come out with a high output 116 and that would barely keep them in the game.

    It would look better with the round air cleaner on the Heritage and Fat Bob. Not a fan of the giant air cleaner. The tank badge looks like an Indian logo. Can’t believe no one at Harley picked up on that before approving this thing.

    Nice overview of the new Fat Boy, Mike. Keep up the great work. With the new head design, one thing that's worth mentioning is how much the top of the engine gets cleaned up. The oil line manifold (which is a PITA to remove and install) is gone, giving a fresh, clean look. I like it a lot!

    Hey Man Mountain Mike, what do you think about the 3 power levels on the 117? I think it’s another money grab by HD. The Heritage comes with the lowest power point. Man that bike is designed for 2 up riding. You need maximum power for the extra weight. So now you have to throw down more money to get more power when it should have come from the factory that way.
    I do like the color options on the softails. Wish we could have got those on the RKS. That’s all I have for now. Y’all peace out. I’m out for now.

    • @RidingintheOzarks
      @RidingintheOzarks  8 дней назад +1

      They say the tuning is to met the characteristics of the model, I can kind of see that. My take is the power and tq are plenty for 2 up, My SG is just a little better but heavier and trust me you can't tell your pulling a passenger.
      I think it is to simply stuff and have less motors to support from a marketing, sales and repair standpoint. More compatibility across the P&A stuff also. And if you really want more get up and go the stuff like the cam from 117 HO could be thrown in there and your on your way... overall I like the way they are heading on the Cruiser line. Only real downside I see is we lost the most affordable entry level model.

    • @RidingintheOzarks
      @RidingintheOzarks  8 дней назад +1

      They say the engine is lighter and on my SG I know part of it is for a new method of making aluminum parts so I get it but I don't necessarily jump to more plastic or cheaper parts...doesn't mean there may not be some though.

    • @Prometheus1979
      @Prometheus1979 8 дней назад +1

      I agree with you on that. But coming from Harley’s from 2011 to my new 2023 I can’t tell how much they went from metal parts to plastic. I’m still pissed about a plastic transmission dipstick, and I had to spend 300 dollars changing out my plastic manifold, I plastic transmission top cover, etc. and paying a very premium price for it. It really pisses you off how cheap they building these bikes now and and what they charging for them.

    I think the 3 different levels of 117 make way more sense than all the differing engine sizes of previous years. From an inventory/cost mfg. standpoint. And I gotta admit it’s been years since I’ve given a Fat Boy a second look. I absolutely loved them since I was a teenager drooling over the silver ‘90 model that was in my local dealer showroom back then. But sometime around ‘06 somewhere in that timeframe I quit liking them. Til now this year the blue one and dang that two tone black and red is callin my name. Would love to have a 117.

      @RidingintheOzarks Personally, I want both companies to succeed. We, the consumer, come out ahead. Innovation up and prices competitive. I'm also old enough to remember the AMF days........Edit: I think HD needs to claim "The oldest continuous American motorcycle company" for advertising. I'm currently an Indian motorcycle owner. I mean right is right.

      @RidingintheOzarks I agree that was NOT cool. I almost purchased a Victory back in the day. I think they suffered poor timing for the look(?) advertising, etc. Not really sure. Edit: For me an Indian was on my bucket list since 1978 or so I was a kid. I have a Scout. Unfortunately I have a feeling sooner than later 3 wheels will eventually be in the future.

    All them ride modes, really stupid and not worth it do a low power bike. 100, 110 hp is nothing in todays standards.
