My mixed pom is 8 years old and still barks at dogs that walk by my house, I think it’s protective thing, but outside on walks or in public areas he does not bark he is very respectful. Even if the other dogs are going crazy and barking or growling he just ignores them. I think it’s important to socialize ducky and take him too dog parks where he can socialize with other dogs and make him “desensitized” but I know some people don’t like or feel comfortable with dog parks either
