    “home was an old painting nestled deep into the cracks of the canvas, and she had arrived as wet and unsettled as fresh ink” is a lovely line!!!
    I’m deep into edits so this was really interesting hearing your process!

    Your self-editing and diagnostic skills are great. I love seeing your line editing process because mine feels so shallow in comparison.

      i think it’s totally normal to edit on gut feeling, not shallow at all! ☺️ thank you for watching!!

    Yes! My vote is for more editing videos. You are so purposeful about everything you write. I love seeing you find a way to make each moment work twice as hard. Loved it! Keep these up!

    if this is what y'all mean when you say your first drafts are garbage I should simply stop writing because girl this was so good!! I truly enjoyed it so much that I paused and read the whole thing (I did it with both versions) because I was instantly captivated. Now I want to read the whole book lmao. Thank you so much for sharing your writing and the thought process behind it, it's so helpful and interesting. I hope you do more videos like this in the future!

    okay i loved this. it's so helpful to see another person editing, because when it comes to my own, i usually just play by ear. "i dont like how this sounds, this is inconsistent, i could have used a stronger word here", that kind of thing. seeing you edit so thoughtfully is honestly so helpful when it comes to deciding what to remove, keep, add, and _why_ .

    I loved this! I've recently finished the first draft of a fantasy novel too, and it's always so interesting to see people's processes moving into the edits. Loving your prose! You definitely have a distinct and lyrical voice. Thank you for sharing!

    yea this is the most wonderful writing video ever. no one shows the self editing version of themself, where they have to talk to their story and listen back for answers. thanks!!

    you are so awesome! not to be a stereotypical filipino, but it's nice seeing another pinoy writer 😚 i started writing years ago when authortube was only 5 channels with super vague advice, so it's amazing seeing more honest channels with authentic content like yours coming out. once i finish my current first draft, i hope you still have slots open for betareading ❤️

    This was really interesting, the changes you made and your thoughts behind them. The second version was clearly better, and it was fun to compare the two versions. I keep my first drafts for this as well, love to see how the writing improves with each draft.

    i never minded prologues as a reader and as a writer i still dont. im glad to see you chose not to use it though. they are like maps for what scenes should have been written. still though i never mind getting set up and being told what my mind can expect to be shown. very cool of you to dig it up and show some of your process with it

    My writings is nowhere even near to the unrevised draft. English isn't my first language nor it is the second, we actually don't use english around here. I like to use that as an excuse for my uninteresting writing style, it feels like I won't be able to write a good novel until pigs learn to dance.

    I keep hearing about familiar phrasing. What is it? I haven't been able to find anything on it.

    • @KrisMF
      @KrisMF  Год назад

      in simple terms, it is “cliché writing” - common sayings, metaphors, smilies, etc. just descriptions that are used a lot-either in every day speech or stories-to the point where it can be seen as predictable or overused. but as with all writing, whether or not something is “cliché” comes with degrees of subjectivity.

    Are you Filipina? Do you speak Tagalog? And another thing: do you write in your own language?
