    BETA READ VIDEO UPDATE 📣 thank you to everyone who submitted pieces--I'm having a lot of fun going through them! if you still want to share something, I am keeping the form open until MON MAY 30TH: bit.ly/3NT0sN5 there were more submissions than I anticipated and I'll do my best to include all of them.
    Also, just a heads up--June will be a busy month for me, so it may take a while to get these videos posted. (Could be up to a month, depending on how my schedule pans out, since I'll be out of town for a bit.)
    I don't want to rush giving you guys feedback! I appreciate the patience and I hope I can make the discussion as thorough and helpful as possible. thanks!! ☀

    Finally catching up on your videos! I love hearing someone else talk about writing short fiction. Short fiction is what got be back into writing last year and I love hearing how other people use it in their writing journeys!

    Gotta say that I really love your vibe and how confident you are in your process. I wish I'd been that confident when I was much younger, maybe I wouldn't have taken 20 years off of writing a lot. But I'm making up for it now, working on my third novel, just for fun. 😄

    Every once in a while I think, hey maybe I''ll do a writing vlog and document my thoughts and process and then I look at Kris MF and I realize you've just posted something and somehow said 90% of what was in my head! Thinking my writing is ok, then thinking I must be delusional. Getting nervous about submitting to a beta reader. Last minute frantic editing before submitting to a beta reader. All so, so, so relatable.

    i am so glad the algorithm recommended your channel to me! this is my first vid but i already love your approach to writing and how structured your writing routine (?) seems to be. i am currently reflecting on what you said at the end (about writing impulsively) and i suppose maybe there should be time for that too... though, as someone way too fond of routines, that scares me a little. when i allow myself to do things on impulse, i tend to burn out and drop them haha anyway, really liked the video and think i am gonna stay on this little corner of youtube

      welcome!!! I promise I'm not very structured at all, but I just like to approach projects one at a time (usually)! :') thanks for watching ☀

    Your short story's title has me hooked. :)
    Having never gone to the pool for online beta readers, I still rely on local colleagues for that stage. Getting plays critiqued is more difficult because ... in case you're not aware of what theatre people are like ... the majority of what they're willing to say is either fluffy flattery or passive aggression, both of which are linked to their own career motives and neither of which is helpful in the editing process.
    If you usually only write one book at a time, try writing two. Even if you have four ideas, stick to writing two and if that works out for long enough try three .... etc. But if two isn't working, go back to one. The juggling analogy works well, because why would a beginner be juggling ten balls if they haven't tried with two of them?

    Just the first few seconds in anddddd this video is relatable 😂 but omg you are so pretty 😭😭❤️ inside out!
    And I’m also comfortable with third person too. I only have one story in first person.
    Ahhhh title reveal. Love it. A big fan of single word titles or just two word titles!

      Ohhh I have this problem too
      I will sit for hours trying to find a title and then come up with something like “The House” 😐

    • @KrisMF
      @KrisMF  2 года назад

      honestly I hate titling, which is why I usually put it off for as long as I can haha. I don't really have title advice beyond just playing with different words until I find something that sounds nice! I usually use a central motif, image or theme in the story as a starting point and just build around that :)
