As an American-I avoid New York City ❤I would never encourage a foreigner to visit-except maybe for a weekend. Then get out and see other parts of the country. I feel the same way about visiting LA, California. I know that lots of people like to visit these places when in the US-but I generally avoid them. Too much stress! Unnecessarily. Thanks @ Tayo We love you! 🇺🇸
what would be the best state to visit in the us? i want to visit america
@@arisyttt New York City is by far the most diverse, most inclusive, most creative, and my favorite city in the USA. I was born in California, and I have lived all over the US and abroad. There is no city like NYC and I am proud to say that I have lived here for more 23 years. Most visitors who have bad things to say about NYC, spend the vast majority of their time in Manhattan. Manhattan is such a small part of the city. In my view, there is no universal best place to visit. It depends on what you like. Also, I think your question should be "What city in the US is the best place to visit?" What is best for one person, is the worst for someone else. For example, I hate Los Angeles but many people love it. New York City is by far my favorite city in the United States. One thing I love about NYC is that you can certainly be overwhelmed and busy all the time, but you can also choose to have a far more laid backed life. That is certainly how live.
@user-tq6ns7cg8w LA can get easily expensive, most theme park are like $100 per day per person...A weekend getaway at Las Vegas will probably be good and easy on price....
Now New York is flooded by immigrants specially from Venezuelan
@@arisytttHouston Texas
NYC Born and raised. I had to commute from the Bronx to Manhattan for high school every day. I was completely burnt out by graduation. Growing up there does something to you. Like everyone else who grew up there, you develop a hard shell with sort of deadened emotions. The exhaustion is real. People shouldn't have to live in a constant state of vigilance. It damages the soul and the nervous system. I finally was able to move north to the country and lived there for 14 years before finally being able to escape the northeast entirely. Best move ever.
Most people can grow accustomed to anything. I think you just weren't able to and that's fine, I agree it can be a lot. But vigilance just becomes 2nd nature after a while. But even stuff like the noise, I moved to the suburbs in Florida and could not sleep with the silence. I'm back now and maybe it is that break and you are right that I will get burnt out again but as of right now, I'm not trying to leave again. I left a few times because that's what I thought I needed but I'm older and wiser and I wanna build my future here.
As for the shell, yeah, seeing homeless people constantly will do that. I like to give when I can but if I give to the first homeless I see, am I gonna give to the next one? Or the one after that? If I gave to all of them, I'd be the homeless one. So it becomes easy to ignore them and the drug users after a while.
It did not not take me that long to realize that NY is the biggest lie ever told to people. I was there just a week, it's a real concrete jungle.
I also took the train from the BX to Manhattan for high school school. The SAs were crazy, which is why I mean mug damn near every man I see. I never felt burnt out though about the fast pace or movement bc I didn't know anything else. BUT I went upstate every summer for camp, then I went to college down south and saw life could be different. Eventually, I moved to New Orleans bc it' reminds me of NYC, but with 6 months of summer, friendlier people, and a much better cost of living. But I wouldn't trade growing up in NYC for anything. I'd move back if not for those 3 things...and the rats, ewww... They weren't as bad when I lived there as they are now. .
@@hotchocolategirl1der yep the groping- the men pushing up against you on the rocking train. After a while I just got numb.
The idea is to be cultivated in such an environment like NYC which develops and ready you for the world. Why New York is most sought after destination of parents in the states. The key is knowing when to spread our wings and fly. Most fortune 500'S give internships to students out of NYC schools.
New York leads the way, with 13, given birth to the most US Supreme Court Justices over the past 221 years in America. Including the very first, John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the Court.
I love NY!! There are so many different aspects to NY, it’s not just Manhattan. You have all 4 seasons. NY builds some of the strongest people!! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
I seriously want Tayo aina to be the most subscribed RUclips channel in Nigeria before this year ends.
Let's do this guy
Yes before this year in Africa tho, not only in Nigeria
We are with him ❤
That girl looks so pretty. Her laughter when you asked her the question was just beautiful.
The part about NYC that we rarely talk about. A week before we sat down for our interview, I was actually admitted in to the psych ward due to a severe mental health breakdown that was caused by burnout and other issues. Thank you for your vulnerability and sharing this story.
❤
New York City vs. New York State. So glad you made the distinction. Outside of the city, there are many beautiful, peaceful areas like you showed.
What was not mentioned is NYC has 5 boroughs consisting of 51 Council districts throughout the five boroughs are each represented by an elected Council Member. All have a unique level of distinction like Abuja is to Lagos in Nigeria. It's insane to think one can visit NYC in 30-days without a well though-out plan to visit a different borough of NYC each day. To review NY state would require another 3-months at minimum. The small district in Brooklyn in the video was in Jamaica Town. New York City alone is so vast that many New Yorker living there have never visit other boroughs themselves. To some it like taking a week-end trip, a getaway vacation.
The pressures of being an entrepreneur can weigh heavily on your mental health, leading to overthinking, increased stress, anxiety, burnout, and depression. The air pollution in big cities can also impact one's mental health. Great video!!
❤️🩹
You captured my thoughs perfectly. Thanks for watching!
I can relate, the pressures of entrepreneurship hit very hard.
Totally agree. I’m burnt out
I live in Lagos Nigeria,& this is exactly how I feel😔
I always felt an urge to visit New York city from seeing it on TV throughout my life but when I finally got to visit it was honestly such a stressful and underwhelming experience. Dirty streets, dirty metro, drug addicts and homelessness everywhere, pressured for giving tips for literally everything etc. It's sadly not as romantic as we'd like it to be. I prefer to stay in Europe
I don’t have to tip so I’m confused
I don’t know about you but a lot of people miss the dirty nyc in 1990s
@@estelalopez3563what a ridiculous excuse.
I love Europe especially Italy
Wait till you visit Paris or Rome.
The honesty in this video is applauding. Thank you for letting people see the other side of the mental exhaustion.
Honesty? Lol.
The whole video is sponsored by a mental health app. That's just an angle he found to create content and get a sponsor.
@@papi2011the video is sponsored but it's still real, honest and relatable. The sponsorship is like a cherry on top in my opinion.
🙌🏾 seconded. Love your content through and through Tayo. Please look after yourself
New York can be fun but it's exhausting as well. I felt the same and we made the decision to come back to Kenya. I'm more than happy back home ❤❤
Don't lie dude. You've never even been out of Nairobi
😂😂
@@mitzy123 I've just been curious and checked her on fb. She surely is telling the truth. Na uwache wivu
Home is always the best, wherever you call home❤
Anytime I go to NYC, after 3 days I am ready to fight back home. It's too overwhelming for me. Too crowded, lots of walking, it is sometimes chaotic. I love NYC but just for a very short period.
Let's get this channel to 1M subs before this year ends. Tayo really deserves it! 💯
Feels like poetry. And Sophie...she's a gem! Chopper ride was cool.
She really is! Today's young people are so smart and diverse.!
Moved to NYC in 2021, absolutely loved the big city life idea until I tried building a community. It was extremely hard especially as someone working from home. Ended up moving to Seattle. It's not better but the nature all around helps a lot. Great video Tayo.
I am in Seattle and a community builder. it is definitely less exhausting than New York. lets connect
@@DJNAYIRAM I just subbed to your channel. How can we connect in Seattle?
Seattle gang over here
Seattlite too. In my industry, all those close move to other cities.
I left Seattle for Washington DC. I found people in Seattle cold! If you didn’t grow up or didn’t go to school there, people will just avoid you. The weather didn’t help either.
PS: I’m not an outdoorsy / nature person so Seattle didn’t work for me.
Tayo u just blow my mind each time u create content.... Am 50 and being to New York a few times and here u are taking me along another trip as if it was my first. Currently in Sierra Leone West Africa and hooked up on a trip with u in NY.
Young African content creators like you are who I might call hybrid creators......giving confidence to all folks in an all changing world, showcasing real life in a variety of environments, super educative and proudly African. Thanks for another mind blowing adventure👍👍
Hi Tayo, I lived in NYC when I first moved to the US as a teenager. About less than a year, my entire immigrant (Guyanese) family moved to Schenectady NY (within the Capitol Region of NY). Now I call Schenectady my home. It is quiet, much cheaper than NYC and Guyanese immigrants like myself, built our own community. I love NYC, and visit to have fun, but I head back to the Capitol Region when I feel drained. There are fun things to do Upstate like, going to the beaches in Lake George, boat cruise, white water rafting, hiking in the state parks, wine tasting in the figure lakes.
I would have love to suggest places for you to visit.
I am happy you enjoyed NY and shared your experience.
Continue sharing your stories.
As someone foreign born and living in New York, I can definitely relate.
👌🏾
Tayo you are so good, creativity you put in your videos are top notch , this channel must hit 1m before this year runs out🎉🎉
Tayo you don't just show me places, you take me there. God bless the day I subscribed to this channel
It's overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time...And things and information seemingly hitting you at such ferocious pace and if you don't have your tribe as the wind below your wings to push you to greater heights, then bouncing is best.
My first time in New York was so overwhelming. It was like a different world … literally like a jungle and I was ready to go lol HOWEVER on my 3rd visit I LOVED IT!!!
I loved this particular video because of how honest and real it was! It humanised everyone involved and serves as a reminder that we're all just doing our very best, at the end of the day.
👌🏾
This was an amazing video. I work as a travel nurse and I go from the north, south, east and west of the country and I love how you shared your story here. It can be difficult traveling for work and being solo but I have learned as I have been out and about to build community for myself everywhere that I have gone. I definitely use therapy and exercise self-care and I open myself up to new experiences because those are like MEDICINE for me. I been following you for a long time and please keep doing your thing Tayo and take care of yourself. 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🙏🏾
Thank you so much! This is heartfelt 🙏
@@TayoAinaFilmsBut you never reply my comments 😠😠
I understand how feel… I was in NY this past weekend for my birthday and I was so overwhelmed! I had anxiety through my stay.
I get it. I was born and raised here. Honestly, things were notably less crazy back then than they are now. But I’m seeing that a lot of places I’ve been. New York has great energy but times are hard for people so they behave in ways they wouldn’t normally. Hope you give NYC another shot when life gets a little bit more sane 😄
Haha, I will try my best to give it another shot in the future!
@@TayoAinaFilms We're getting over the 'shut-down' still it seems after the virus hit! For me the thing I'd always loved about being in Manhattan was the multiple small music venues.. Jazz.. so many amazing musicians and singers .. Not happening so much now unfortunately.. And SO dirty everywhere as you discussed. Great review. Thank you!
Great vibes Champ come again and Visit
Tayo, you should come to San Francisco. It’s also a vibrant city for content creators and ambitious people. Should add that to your budget list. I live here and I love it
Hey that's me @9:50 😄 awesome video! Thanks for having me in it 🙏🏾
Such quality work! I'm just here to say Well done. New subscriber here❤
Just left NYC a few days ago ... after living there for 16 years. Your experience shared in this video reminds me of when I first moved to NYC. I had all of these feelings. NYC rewires you and it's not always a positive re-wiring. But so glad you lived there for 30 days to get a full taste!
Bro I work 60-80 hours a week in NYC (healthcare). But I’m chilling in Cape Town at the moment thanks to your videos!
I can’t wait to leave NYC one day but for now it’s how I can make tons of money.
Variety is the spice of life... What is my favorite isn't yours. New York is a cosmopolitan state. Well done Tayo
Tayo Aina you're among the powerful new generation that showcase their continent and their country. You are living your dreams traveling blogging and making money. Without any Jappa.
New York is noooo joke ! No be joke oooooo i really appreciate you discussing burnout. I pray God Will release endless creative ideas to your mind. God bless
I'm assuming that Lagos would be more overwhelming than NYC. But you are right about being around a lot of people and feeling alone. It wasn't until I left until I really started opening up.
Tayo, you don’t seem to enjoy travelling/creating content. You can always take a break.
@Tayo Aina
There's a concept around the negative feedback psychology of having too much options in life ( 'cos too much of anything can be psychologically worrisome).... I think New York living exemplifies the manifestation of that concept
that' was a beautiful story telling ! nice video
keep it up Sir !
Great video Tayo! I love seeing the world through your eyes. Hope I'll be able to see it with my own eyes too someday
I appreciate all of your content but this one is the 1st one that I could actually relate to after living here in NYC for 16 years and visiting on my school breaks as a child. The southern states of America has more of a community feeling than here. (I grew up visiting Alabama my whole childhood because my grandparents came from that southern state). NYC bothers me because most people are more focused on their own lives and achievements, but as an entrepreneur I'm able to generate thousands for myself in this city full of opportunity.
If you're going to live in a place like this "metropolis", then it would be better for you to have needed skills that can earn income for you regardless of a job hiring you, and you should link with other likeminded people to survive with or you will indeed feel lonely. Millions of people walk by you without saying anything to you because they do not know you. Anyway, thanks for sharing the real about this. Wish I knew you were coming and looking to talk with people here. You could have traveled the city with my partner and I as we move around the boroughs. I could have shown you more things about the city. Maybe one day huh? lol Hugs and love bro! :-)
This was heartfelt and I’m happy to hear you resonate my thoughts. Thanks for watching!
lol let's also be fair, that "community feeling" of the south definitely doesn't apply to all skin colors and orientations. As a Floridian, there are literally spots scattered in the state where I don't want my parents visiting because of our Latino roots and spoken language-----which is something you really don't experience anywhere near as often in New York City where the cultures and languages blend together.
@@DIAC1987great & insightful comment.👍🏾You need to experience to understand why folks gravitate towards places like New York. You don't feel so self-conscious, like the leafy suburbia, where you stand out like a sore thumb stms.🤔
Nice 👍
I have been thinking about Miami but don't really know much about the city
It's the soundtrack at the part of the helicopter ride for me. Depicts peace of mind to me. So soothing and relaxing. Amazing content. Thank you Tayo 🇳🇬🇳🇬
Wow wow so many things I want to say about Tayo’s comments, but the main word I took away was “inaction” … I’ve lived in NY ALL MY LIfe and I understand exactly how TRUE this feeling is… .working jobs , owning my own businesses!! Thanks for sharing. Maybe one day I will check it out if I make it to New York anytime in the near future.
I can totally relate to this! Burnout is a real struggle, especially in a fast-paced city like New York. It takes courage to recognize when you need a change and even more to act on it. Thanks for sharing your story!
Lots of love Bro. 1m subscribers loading. God be with you 💕💕💕💕💕
Love this… thanks for sharing your experience
@Tayoaina you need to visit Atlanta. You will love it.
NYC third generation born and raised. I love the hustle and bustle. But my favorite ways to unplug are to get on the water. Walk on a beach. Ride any ferry. Take a boat ride. Kayak on the Hudson. And ride horses, equestrian style, not western. If you are experienced and the stable knows you, the ride is amazing because you can go out and explore on your own. You don't have to leave the city to do any of these. Although there are endless possibilities if you get away of course. I learned how to focus and to block out/tune out the noise. My mantra is F*ck it! It's a dependable filter. I also live in LA. I do the same activities, same mantra. Love what you do Tayo. Thank you!
The green environment is lovely.
It was good u left, the city flooded yesterday
I am 68. When l was younger l loved going to cities. Now I have to have a reason to go otherwise l would much rather be in the country. I get much more of a kick seeing an old tree, hearing birds etc than seeing lots of concrete and millions of people. I think most people feel the same way as they age. Your constant travel and over stimulation is burning you out.
You do such a great job! Thanks for sharing all sides of the story including the vulnerable ones. I just subscribed because of your authenticity. I am looking forward to more great content - and for me that's simplicity and authenticity.
I'm honestly loving the wholesome content ❤
New York is more than just the city. So many small towns in the Empire State to see and visit. As a Canadian living close to Buffalo, New York it always amazes me the beautiful nature all around. Whether on the American side or Canadian side. Next time you come over try and see other parts of the state or visit Canada 🇨🇦. Glad you had that experience as it is a great lesson on learning about personal boundaries. Take care my youth, One Love 💛💚🖤

This has been a struggle for me since moving to the UK from the US. Its hard to survive when you have no community. But its important to just go outside. Thanks for this video bro.
Have you noticed a difference from the US to the UK. In terms of it being more relaxed compared to the go go go attitude of the US?
@@joey-pn3xeno any big city like london or nyc will have a culture of working to survive
@@ye23. Sorry, I think you misread my comment. I’m asking about country level generally not big cities.
@@joey-pn3xe thats a flawed question because within countries theres great variation in its states/cities in their cultures, practices, particularly in the US which is very diverse. Also in the UK where london would be a different work culture to say a rural/quieter town.
