This was so perfect at explaining many things, different techniques and possible outcomes, reasons for failing, hot to correct those fails and then on top of it all.... YOU SMILE, admit your limitations and how to correct them for the next time... PLEASE continue to make vids. Great job!!!

    I've just started my knife throwing career I don't have proper pro tools as in the correct throwing utensils at present but I am looking to purchase some real soon I am throwing inside at the moment I have neighbours and knife throwing if it doesn't stick can be very very noisy I know nothing about shuriken your throwing spikes but this video is cool as are the rest of you're videos at the moment I have learned some of the military half turn technique I can throw from far back and get it to stick just by placing my thumb higher up the knife with military half spin but ultimately what I would love to master is the non spin distance knife throwing that would be very impressive on my part and something to learn to master .
    Stay blessed from the UK ...PEACE

    This is an amazing video. It's a really good refresher video! Question, would be making a no-spin video for knives? I understand that you can't no-spin throw a knife like a spike, and I've definitely tried plenty of ways to no-spin my knives (I have, in particular, cold steel sure flight sport) but I can't get them to stick. Thanks!

    • @Xolette
      @Xolette  9 лет назад

      Armando Villa-Ignacio In the near future, I'm thinking of doing a Fedin How-to, but it might evolve to the 3 different no spin techniques. We'll see! For the Sure Flight Sport, try throwing from 2 meters away (at an angle to avoid direct ricochetrs). Ralph Thorn's method of no spin should work best. You can also check out his Combat Knife Throwing DVD and his RalphThornSchool RUclips channel. Hope that helps!

    for the instinctive half throw/ blade throw, how would you grip the knife? Would you hold it like a normal half spin, or just do a no spin but inverted? I feel like the second would cut your hand, but I don’t really see how the first would work. Controlling the rotation of the knife itself seems quite foreign, or at least something that I need a lot of work on.
    Nonetheless, great video! On my way to part 2!

    • @XoletteLife
      @XoletteLife 9 лет назад

      Kevin Liu No cutting of the hand if the blade isn't sharp. For a half spin, I just hold the back of the knife by the blade. If it's double-edged, then that'd be difficult to do if the knife was sharp. But most throwing knives aren't sharp. Hope the 2nd part helped you how to control the rotation...once you understand the trajectory of a knife during a no-spin throw... it's not that difficult to make the necessary changes to get it to stick. :)

    Do you think the rubber mats will work for knives. Mostly ones shorter than 10 inches?

    • @Xolette
      @Xolette  9 лет назад

      Rahul Seoparsan In my opinion, I don't think so. The spike only leaves a small hole, but a knife will leave s thin gash. It doesn't hurt to try though!

      Found it. Could he decide what weapon(s) he would have to handle well enough in order to pass? In Germany we sometimes can choose two weapon categories which we must handle in near perfection - if we do, one category has to consist of two weapons ambidextrous. Nice Bo-work there! The tomoe nage was cool, too.
      And there I see you Chose Hapkido for sourself some time ago. Nice!
      It's strange how paths seem to correlate sometimes, even intercontinentally.
      I used to train in Shinson Hapkido under Ko Myong in my homwetown Darmstadt/ state of Hessen when I was Young. Tose were the years that inspired me to Keep on Training martial arts. I always get watery eyes when I return to that old Dojang and am allowed to watch Training from the visitor's room. Very happy memories :,) Thanks for bringing them back! Imma go see Myong's son Hanol (hope I wrote it right this time) train these next days, I guess.

  • @ArtLeo_Art
    @ArtLeo_Art 9 лет назад

    Do spikes need to be very or decently sharp to penetrate, say, a wooden target like plywood?

    • @Xolette
      @Xolette  9 лет назад

      +Kyle Nguyen The tip should be sharp, especially for plywood. Plywood is my least favorite target though as it's hard to penetrate through the layers because of how they're situated. I'd go with the targets I show in this video. Good luck!

    • @Xolette
      @Xolette  9 лет назад

      Crystal Tam It'll help hone your skill in how to "slow spin" a knife-- meaning how to go from quarter spin to getting it to stick. It'll be easy for you to to go from spikes to knives. It's not as easy for people to go from knives to spikes... because spikes are smaller so takes a bit of getting used to. Good luck!

    Hi, are throwing spikes relatively safer the throwing knives? Thank You Kindly!

    • @Xolette
      @Xolette  8 лет назад +1

      Yes, I believe so because of the soft target...and even then, spikes don't ricochet off wood like knives do. (And wood is a difficult target to throw into anyway.) As long as you keep a safe distance (past 2 meters) and stand at an angle from the target, you shouldn't get any dangerous ricochets.
