Always loved that song along with Mother's Little Helper contradicting the accusation of following or aping the Beatles. Truly shows moments of originality. Brian 's rhythm riff dials in early Bo Diddly
I first saw the Stones play the very song on Ed Sullivan in 1966. I was 16 at the time and hoping to learn guitar. Thanks for the clarifications. Finally, I acquired a guitar later. Keith's guitar, I believed wrongly, was a Vox. I didn't know he (or Brian) used a Guild at anytime. When I first saved enough money to acquire an electric in 1971, I couldn't find a Firebird in my neck of the woods. I had to settle on an SG.
Brian playing the Bo Diddley “Diddley Diddley Daddy” on the Firebird. Part of the great Stones of 1965 string of hits…Last Time; Satisfaction; Get Off My Cloud…”
And don't forget Bill Wyman's deceending bass riff at the end of the record. when played against the Brian Jones riff it gives to my mind a real Bo Diddley feel.
Another excellent video, Doug! I have learned an awful lot from your vids, but I can't believe that you got the little fuzz lead lick wrong on this one. After "You better stop, and look around...", you play A, B, E, D. It is actually B, C#, E, D. Thanks again!
I like when you just play the parts in the beginning without talking over it. Better for experienced guitarists just looking to pick up the song. We can learn it by watching.
Yeah as an earlier comment says Brian plays Diddly Daddy by Bo Diddly the whole time…I think he was kind of almost trying to sabotage the early Jagger-Richards songs or at least kind of showing them up by playing old riffs BUT IT WOrks GREAT as the second guitar. The two guitars riffing off one another is just cool. Thanks great job.
Loving it 12 Ft, Huge Stones Fan ♪♫♪♫♪ Saw them in 89 Steel Wheels Tour, Keith Solo X-Pensive Winos in 93 Massey Hall Toronto and Ronnie Slide On This Tour in 92 at RPM Toronto 🥰
The Black and silver face Fender amps had the optical tremolo which moved the volume up & down. The early 60's "Brownface" or brown Rolex Fender amps had harmonic tremolo which moved the treble and bass giving it almost like a chorus effect. Hard to explain, but yes, different.
Whey cool. Sounds like Keith and Brian all day. Swings bigtime. The guitar on Sullivan was a Guild Freshman. Looked it up on Five Watt world. A full history of Keith's and some of Brian's axes. Keep awn!! 😉🐘
Brians part is a straight rip from a BoDidley song (Didley Daddy I think). While Keiths distored bit on the stop is a direct Chuck Berry figure from the second verse of Around and Around....but hey why not✌️
Omg I just listened to Diddley Daddy after reading your comment and YES that is crazy! 100% direct copy even down to the tremolo/vibrato effect on it. Same part, different tempo only. Wow, thanks for that.
I have to be critical but that was absolutely like the record, except for the naff distortion pedal at the improtant bit.. I can't say you didnt nail the playing though... ❤
thank you so much, really glad you like them! there should be a "thanks" icon if you click on the ellipsis below the video on pc, or maybe there's icons you can scroll to the right on the phone. not sure how it shows up where you are.
Could you do a lesson of 'Come on' as I‘m going to marry my girlfriend of 38 years. I‘m planning to plug in my Champion600 and do that tune for her /us . She‘s a big Stones fan all of her live . Would love to plug in my Telly and rock out , right after the ceremony. ❤ Love that gal . Peace out ✌️
Early-era Stones tunes don't get enough love! Great stuff and fun to play. Thanks for the lesson!
Deceptively simple rhythm guitar parts are very intricate. Takes my playing to a new level!

The entire “Stones aping the Beatles” is so exaggerated. It mostly comes from Beatles fans who can connect anything the Stones due to the Beatles.
Check out Bo Diddley's "Diddley Daddy." That may have been what inspired him to write the song. It's got that same bass line.
@@sexcomedyrocknroll That is where it's from.
Love this song!! That opening riff is one of my favorite to play!!
I love the early era Stones!

Nice lesson, brother. Have always loved this early Stones track. Gotta start playing around with this one now that you've laid the foundation.
My mum bought me that record when I was 8 from the barras in Glasgow, oh the memories
👍🏻👍🏻 One of my favorite songs ever
Heard this covered by Jason and the Scorchers the other day. Reminded me of how much I liked it. ❤

That's the bass, right?
Not say goodbye, Tommy Tutone.
I’m doing this on my Ibanez full hollow Jazz Box . Wanted that old "." sound . 😂With the distorted part it gets really strange 😅..
