Valid but I don’t believe that is what she was saying. Everyone at this point knows the WNBA cannot financially sustain itself. They are supported by the NBA. Regardless, everyone in the organization is still paid (no one is working for free). She is saying the percentage split amongst the players and owners should be better. At the end of the day, regardless of how much or little an organization makes, the owners and players negotiate the split. NBA players and owners share around 50% of the revenue.
The WNBA? It is around 75/25 in favor of the owners. Even if the WNBA was sustainable, I don’t think anyone would say that is fair split to its players (who you know are needed for the league). I can concede that is a fair point and reasonable request.

@@superbiaantno…that is completely incorrect. Compensation and revenue sharing must be proportional to the revenue generated, as high compensation isn't sustainable for a league with lower revenue. It’s sustainable for the NBA because of the larger pool, but with a smaller, MUCH, smaller pool, there’s no way for a business to remain viable and sustain operations with such a high split. In almost all industries, it’s performance based comp. Comp is heavily tied to the success of a business. So no, what Kelsey Plum is saying is nowhere near reasonable

It was an obvious low dig from Taurasi that you would expect from an immature, unseasoned, and controversial player. Not from someone that has nothing to prove and should be working more on solidifying their legacy then proving themselves. It reads more like jealousy and fear when you look back at all the useless, bias, and unfounded comments. Even when Taurasi tried to say that greatness is greatness, she implied that does not apply to Caitlin Clark.

I've been watching the WNBA very closely throughout the season and can honestly say that it has been a wonderful way to get through the NBA off-season, because the level of play has gotten so good across the board. There are a ton of great storylines for each team, and the WNBA All Star Game was infinitely more exciting and enjoyable than any NBA All-Star game I've ever seen. I hope that Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese both continue to flourish, and that the WNBA's surge in popularity is sustainable. Its definitely been a wild ride so far, and I can't wait to see how the second half of the season turns out when the Olympic break is over. Thanks again, and keep up the good work!

I think since Taurasi has been on the team for over 20 years, its seen as "her team" just like how Lebron and Steve Kerr can call the shots and leave last year's team in the dust. Its probably Taurasi's last year in the WNBA and her last Olympics so its clear she doesn't care about the money, its just a selfish move so she can claim a fifth gold medal and have that as her legacy as having the most basketball golds. If this were soccer, Megan Rapinoe would have done the same thing to a popular younger player. Men do this to men too, its just that with women's sports, they really should think about the $$$$ and giving back to their sport.
